- At 2:12 p.m. on Jan. 6, supporters of President Trump began climbing through a window they had smashed on the northwest side of the U.S. Capitol. “Go! Go! Go!” someone shouted as the rioters, some in military gear, streamed in. It was the start of the most serious attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812. The mob coursed through the building, enraged that Congress was preparing to make Trump’s electoral defeat official. “Drag them out! … Hang them out!” rioters yelled at one point, as they gathered near the House chamber.
Officials in the House and Senate secured the doors of their respective chambers, but lawmakers were soon forced to retreat to undisclosed locations. Five people died on the grounds that day, including a Capitol police officer. In all, more than 50 officers were injured.
To reconstruct the pandemonium inside the Capitol, The Washington Post examined text messages, photos and hundreds of videos, some of which were exclusively obtained. By synchronizing the footage and locating some of the camera angles within a digital 3-D model of the building, The Post was able to map the rioters’ movements and assess how close they came to lawmakers - in some cases feet apart or separated only by a handful of vastly outnumbered police officers. In a breach on US democracy like this, partisan opinion and affiliation becomes irrelevant. The truth is that lawmakers from both parties were threatened that day by radical rioters. This wasn't a protest for the good of the country, it was an insurrection that cost people their lives and almost toppled an institution. Whether you're Democrat or Republican, no one can deny the severity of what happened on January 6.

Who invited all those angry people? Donald J. Trump. He even insisted they not be made to walk through magnetometers because (as he stated) "those people are not here to hurt me." And if that report came back certifying that Biden won, how likely is it that Trump would've accepted the findings? Considering he rejected all the recounts that came out in Biden's favour, I'd say it's highly doubtful. Trump seems incapable of admitting he lost- and has no problem manipulating his supporters with baseless claims of wide spread election fraud. He's a self-centred con artist.

And by the way, the people who entered the Capitol building stopped the objection to certification, not certification itself.
Tear gas was being thrown into the crowd before anyone tried to breach the barriers, informants were present encouraging people to enter. The whole thing is not what it seems. If you think this was Trump's grand plan to stay in office, you're wrong. If anything, this event disrupted his plans for congresspeople to object to certification and propose a 10 day investigation of the election. After reconvening, many republicans backed out of those previous objections.
For a country that spends more on Military and Defence then any other on the planet, it sure didn't take long to storm the capital building.

When friend of mine said it wasn't an insurrection because they didn't have guns. Well some of them did others had other weapons and a mob itself is a threat. Well, that's the crazy thing. The election was fraudulent so the anger was justified. Trump pretty much won all the bellwethers yet somehow lost the election. It obviously stinks. 18 of 19 bellwether counties, Florida, Ohio, and Iowa (never has the loser won all 3 of those states), and voter enthusiasm higher than the challenger (very rare). Plus, republicans won 27 of 27 tossup races in the house. So yeah, just a few red flags.

Mike Pence (after Trump tweeted that he'd "let us down") had to call for reinforcements while hiding from MAGAs in a Capitol building loading dock. Trump should be tried for dereliction of duty AND endangering the life of his vice president.

This is the first video I’ve seen of what Babbitt was doing when she was shot. The doors were clearly barricaded. There was clearly a policeman with a gun aimed at the crowd. Crowd members were shouting “there’s a gun”. Crawling through that window was suicide.

You shouldn't be apologetic about this. These people are lead by the ones who claim to want change and improvement of their country but not so deep down their lust for power and greediness are way worse than those in power. You can look up maps of the building. Or just use graphics of the interior like the one displayed in this video at around 2:00. Not that hard to figure out especially when large media outlets like this display that kind of thing.
You just need to take a guided tour like I did last year, they show you where Pelosi's office is.
