how did you train him and gain his trust to let you pet him? Because I have one too, he only flies up to me and nibbles on my hair but still won't let me pet him properly..
Hi, it takes lots of time and patience. I would also say: a proper approach. Every animal is different, birds are different than dogs or cats and parrots are different than other birds. You have to watch its body language, sounds it makes. Speak low and gentle voice, never raise or shout, never make sudden moves. The bird has to be comfortable with you, trust that it’s safe. Mine doesn’t always allow me to touch his neck. If he bites me or makes angry sounds, I have to give up. It’s good to just keep an open hand in the front of him, usually when he is on my knee (bent, so he is high). He also likes sitting on the armchair’s side rests. Even if I keep my arm close, he prefers the armchair. So, open hand or even a single finger close to him, but not too close: he will bite or fly away. If I keep my finger close to his head, like an inch or two, he might bend his head forward inviting me to pet his neck. The easiest way is to keep an open palm in the front and, when he gets closer, pet him with one finger without changing the palm position. Good luck and let me know how does it go.
