This came in to my recommended feed today, Shawn talks of a podcast as a platform to document others that aren't being heard, and has no ego in this. I usually don't listen to a lot of this stuff but I like where his head is at with all this, so it is interesting. Also Julian I have started watching more of your videos, good content and informative.

Finally someone who can interview Shawn just like he does with the guests on his show! So glad I came across Julian’s podcast, I like how he’s so knowledgeable about so many things and by the questions he asks you can tell he’s done his homework whoever he interviews and the way he can carry on the conversation keeps you engaged listening from start to finish
Listening to Shawn Ryan say he knows more men who committed suicide than he does that died at war and talking about his suicide attempt is overwhelmingly helpful to me personally, everywhere men feel alone with those thoughts and to hear that even the best trained people in the world go through this too is so helpful, Thankyou so much Julian and Shawn
For whatever it's worth, a personal experience: I've spent 13 yrs in the civilian skydiving world, 5 yrs of that working full-time as a professional skydiver. In those 13 yrs, I've known, personally, more skydivers who have taken their own lives than skydivers who have died jumping, including BASE. I don't know what that means but there it is.
@skyearthwater if i had to make a complete guess, people who become obsessed with ultra high adrenaline situations are doing to to fill a void, they keep pushing the experience further and further until they either die or reach the peak, then at the peak they think 'shit, i still feel the same, i thought this would fix me' and then spiral
My grandfather was a Ranger at the beginning of WW2 and, in the end, was working for the OSS. He never told my father or any of his kids anything about the war, but one day my brother and I asked him about it and he sat us down and told us a few things about his time during the war. He told us some pretty crazy stories, showed us his medals, and even showed us a bunch of pictures, too. He even showed us his old colt .45 he brought back. Wished he was still here with us.
Really lucky to get to be around a man like that. My uncle Ben was a Navy Diver at Pearl Harbor when it got hit. He told me some wild stories about that, recovering bodies, etc. He was almost cold to me until I graduated commercial dive school at 19 and then he really liked me.
Great - what did you do? It’s your turn now. Go and serve in whatever capacity you can, if you haven’t already. Men can still be men if / when they choose to be men. Shawn Ryan wasn’t born with a Superman emblem on his chest. He’s just a guy who decided to make himself into one. Do it.
As a veteran… I applaud Shawn’s comments about the VA! The VA is the ultimate Symbolism over Substance institution around. God bless you for your service… then AND now.
Shawn’s shows and guests are unique in the social media world. We’ve all wanted to be a “fly on the wall” listening to operators share with each other. Without cameras or people around. The Shawn Ryan Show is exactly that style!!
It’s easy to see that Shawn is a great guy with a golden heart. I truly love him. So thankful that I got to exist in this universe with him in the same lifetime.

It’s easier to spread lies and misinformation but it’s also easier to get the truth and knowledge out there now. All we have to do is find it.
Shawn Ryan is amazing with his ability to explain deep, difficult concepts and activities in perfectly simple sentences of truth and accuracy. Explanation of the issue with people at his level not getting hired by departments simply because the departments afraid of change and improvement. His ability to make incredibly uncomfortable topics and situations understandable to the outside, thank you.
I remember when Shawn started his show. He did some VERY good training videos. Then made that episode with Marcus luttrel and a few others. Dude started off strong.
The Marcus Luttrell, lone survivor story Is an amazing story. Until you find out, he had the man who saved his life deported from America after bringing him here for his own safety. Why did Marcus Luttrell have him deported you might ask? Well this poor afghan farmer told a different story than the embellished government line. He found Marcus hiding with 10 full magazines of ammo. In direct contrast of a seal team "fighting to the last bullet and man" story told in lone survivor. Many believe Marcus Luttrell does not deserve the awards he was given. I also implore all to research the story of Dakota Meyers. The airforce jtac involved in that story is the true hero, not Dakota. He was hyped up in the media because the Marine Corps had no living Moh recipients from oif/oef, public interest was waining for the war and they needed a publicity stunt.

Thank you so much for bringing Shawn onto the show. I'm also a combat veteran and Shawn has helped me push through some dark times coming home. I fell into drinking really heavily and really struggled. I've been clean for over a year now and looking back, I knew how dark of a headspace I was in but I didn't REALLY know until after I got clean. Just knowing you're not alone helps out a lot, and fake bravado or chest pounding does nobody any good. Being real about these topics takes courage, none the less in front of such a large audience. There are so many people in the shadows that need help and not a lot of people seem to be talking about it.
Congrats on being clean brotha, that is very hard to do and you should be really proud of yourself. I was so glad Shawn agreed to come on and open up like he did. It can help so many people out there.

I feel what makes Shawn so good on his podcasts is his ability to ask specific questions to the guest he’s interviewing. Then allows them to tell their story uninterrupted but keeps it on topic with the ability to sidetrack to points that are made during the interview. His reverence & respect for the gold star & veteran community shows in his “ beliefs”. He has carried his influence and experience into the public light. We need people that know what governments are capable of doing and what they have done to our warfighters. He gives me hope that we can one day become WE THE PEOPLE.

Been following/watching Shawn since he began his Vigilance Elite channel…he’s really evolved into one of the premier long-form interviewers on the platform. His personality along with the guest list have exploded his popularity, as deserved. I think what most viewers appreciate about Shawn is he’s rough around the edges and doesn’t apologize for it…just owns who he is, and what he’s been through…and the world needs more people like this. Good job Julian! Got 2 of my favorite YT podcasters on today, has made my 8hr drive much more tolerable…
I think it shouldn’t ever be underestimated how skilled these Tier 1 guys are, and how transferable the skills that they’ve accumulated over time can be. Not just in warzone. These guys are truly high functional/clever individuals.
Absolutely loved the interview. I've been following SRS since episode #1 with Mike Glover. As a U.S. military veteran I am so happy that these fellow veterans who served in Special Operations and intense combat are sharing their stories and experiences. Even in Shawn's case serving as a contractor with the CIA. People need to hear what these men and women have gone through for this great country. And the sacrifices that they have made for it.
Props too Mr. Ryan for coming on your podcast Julian! Most of the time TH-camrs who have a million or more subscribers will not do videos on smaller peoples channels. They normally make the smaller channel come to their platform but props to Shawn for coming too your platform! Would love to see you on Shawn's Vigilence Elite channel!
Been following Shawn since before the 1st SRS. It’s been wonderful watching him develop & keep things interesting. He’s got a great mission & it’s awesome to see him interviewed again. Edit: Just got to where Shawn talks about the new warfare…he’s talking about 5th Gen. Warfare. It’s real & we are absolutely in the middle of it. You don’t defend yourself if you don’t think you are being attacked. Guess what. We are.
I swear I've seen every single SRS to date but I've yet to watch him on anyone else's channel and it's just as awesome. Best content online. Then again he lives 40 minutes up the road and I've always been one to rep the hometeam.

SRS is by far the best podcast in the space no question. There’s nothing quite as real and raw as SRS. Shawn is a great host. He knows when to fill dead air and when to allow it. He knows when and what questions to ask and what not to ask. He knows how to get these guys to open up and tell stories that otherwise we wouldn’t be blessed to hear. It’s a badass fuckin show. If you’re not watching, you’re a square.
So much truth to "a man left alone with nothing but his thoughts". I'm glad that people like Shawn are out there to do the unspeakable things that keep us safe. I love both podcasts (Shawn and Julian). This episode was particularly moving hearing about Shawn's experience coming back home.

I am still here because of shows like Shawn’s. His show and guest’s honesty about Psychedelic healing was the push I needed to take that leap for myself after boozing and pilling my way out of law enforcement. I dont care if its separating from the military, a first responder career, or an injury forcing a professional athlete to retire, the trauma compounds in that dark lonely place once you are out and it is unbearable. Shows like this showed me I wasnt alone and provided a path out, instead of the life sentence of pharmaceuticals and shrinks. Thank you Shawn and Julian for another great episode.

Fallujah was 2004. My older bro was a Marine and was in those battles. There were 2 that year. One in April and one in November and the second was the worst combat since the Tet offensive in Vietnam in 1968.

He never told my father or any of his kids anything about the war, but one day my brother and I asked him about it and he sat us down and told us a few things about his time during the war. He told us some pretty crazy stories, showed us his medals, and even showed us a bunch of pictures, too. He even showed us his old colt .45 he brought back. Wished he was still here with us.
Really lucky to get to be around a man like that. My uncle Ben was a Navy Diver at Pearl Harbor when it got hit. He told me some wild stories about that, recovering bodies, etc. He was almost cold to me until I graduated commercial dive school at 19 and then he really liked me.

The Marcus Luttrell, lone survivor story Is an amazing story. Until you find out, he had the man who saved his life deported from America after bringing him here for his own safety. Why did Marcus Luttrell have him deported you might ask? Well this poor afghan farmer told a different story than the embellished government line. He found Marcus hiding with 10 full magazines of ammo. In direct contrast of a seal team "fighting to the last bullet and man" story told in lone survivor. Many believe Marcus Luttrell does not deserve the awards he was given. I also implore all to research the story of Dakota Meyers. The airforce jtac involved in that story is the true hero, not Dakota. He was hyped up in the media because the Marine Corps had no living Moh recipients from oif/oef, public interest was waining for the war and they needed a publicity stunt.

Thank you so much for bringing Shawn onto the show. I'm also a combat veteran and Shawn has helped me push through some dark times coming home. I fell into drinking really heavily and really struggled. I've been clean for over a year now and looking back, I knew how dark of a headspace I was in but I didn't REALLY know until after I got clean. Just knowing you're not alone helps out a lot, and fake bravado or chest pounding does nobody any good. Being real about these topics takes courage, none the less in front of such a large audience. There are so many people in the shadows that need help and not a lot of people seem to be talking about it.
Congrats on being clean brotha, that is very hard to do and you should be really proud of yourself. I was so glad Shawn agreed to come on and open up like he did. It can help so many people out there.

I feel what makes Shawn so good on his podcasts is his ability to ask specific questions to the guest he’s interviewing. Then allows them to tell their story uninterrupted but keeps it on topic with the ability to sidetrack to points that are made during the interview. His reverence & respect for the gold star & veteran community shows in his “ beliefs”. He has carried his influence and experience into the public light. We need people that know what governments are capable of doing and what they have done to our warfighters. He gives me hope that we can one day become WE THE PEOPLE.

I've been following Shawn for several years. He has an incredible podcast and seems like a genuinely amazing human being.
Absolutely loved the interview. I've been following SRS since episode #1 with Mike Glover. As a U.S. military veteran I am so happy that these fellow veterans who served in Special Operations and intense combat are sharing their stories and experiences. Even in Shawn's case serving as a contractor with the CIA. People need to hear what these men and women have gone through for this great country. And the sacrifices that they have made for it.

SRS is by far the best podcast in the space no question. There’s nothing quite as real and raw as SRS. Shawn is a great host. He knows when to fill dead air and when to allow it. He knows when and what questions to ask and what not to ask. He knows how to get these guys to open up and tell stories that otherwise we wouldn’t be blessed to hear. It’s a badass fuckin show. If you’re not watching, you’re a square.

I am still here because of shows like Shawn’s. His show and guest’s honesty about Psychedelic healing was the push I needed to take that leap for myself after boozing and pilling my way out of law enforcement. I dont care if its separating from the military, a first responder career, or an injury forcing a professional athlete to retire, the trauma compounds in that dark lonely place once you are out and it is unbearable. Shows like this showed me I wasnt alone and provided a path out, instead of the life sentence of pharmaceuticals and shrinks. Thank you Shawn and Julian for another great episode.
