    I have one and I love it! I first make sure the X axis arm is snug (eccentric nuts) and then use the e-leveler to make sure the bed is square with that nozzle. Once that’s set, I use the mesh level in my Jyers firmware followed by a manual mesh adjustment. When I start my first print that first layers is dead on and OH so satisfying! Chuck has a HIT with this great little tool! 😊

    My bed is pretty dialed in. What I don't get is it seems way higher then a piece of paper. I'd be more willing to try it if I knew how something thicker than paper levels better than paper.

    • @badcrash99

      He forgot to mention that the instructions says that you need to subtract the height of the device to get the correct height

  • @rongibson7305
    @rongibson7305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I'm a little confused. If it's thicker than a sheet of standard printer how does it work? After using the tool. Won't my nozzle be too high away from the surface to properly print a project?

  • @chrisb3989
    @chrisb3989 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you use these for manual mesh leveling on an Ender v2? You can’t set the initial z offset enough to clear the thick probe?

  • @ArmaliteSpade
    @ArmaliteSpade ปีที่แล้ว

    The G-code I have for this pauses until you hit the main button again on my Ender 3.
    I honestly quit printing for a while as I got so frustrated with levelling, and this little device got me back into it.

  • @Jaypoc
    @Jaypoc 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I find leveling with paper quicker, easier and more accurate. I've had the e-leveler2 fall apart (the back riser isn't secured) while trying to use it, and the delay is definitely not long enough if you need to adjust. The manual leveling can be done quickly and you can take as much time as you need at each point. Curious if others found the same.

  • @IH1940HAY
    @IH1940HAY 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Doesn’t this change the Z home height?
    How do you do both, have the bed level and the Z height at the desired height?

  • @MarekZpe3n
    @MarekZpe3n 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I level the bed, shouldn't the nozzle and bed be heated? Is PCB of this tool heat resistant?

    • @Crosslink3D
      @Crosslink3D  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would not heat it up but you should make sure the nozzle tip is clean. Adjusting the z-offset for the first layer is something you should do by printing a test pattern and then live adjusting the z-offset in the printer menu for perfect results.

  • @MattJonesYT
    @MattJonesYT ปีที่แล้ว

    I have to wait 20 seconds on each corner and this is supposed to be easier than using a piece of paper? It add many layers of complexity and potential points of failure because now I have to worry about the gcode thing. A piece of paper is the best solution, especially if using a glass bed and a thin layer of glue stick which basically solves all bed leveling problems.

    It seems like loading and running a G-Code is a little much when you could probably do this a lot easier by running your stepper motors manually.

    • @Crosslink3D
      @Crosslink3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      Bed leveling with motors turned off is never a good idea. Weight of the gantry or pressure against the nozzle can have the z-Motor turn and then you can start over. I don’t see why running a gcode is more work. Marlin also has corner leveling which essentially does the same thing, you could just give it a different z-value for the e-leveler

    That Amazon link has some serious markup on the price of the E-Leveler - £45
    I paid a lot less than that for mine ($24)
    Works a treat on my non-probe printers, including my IDEX for setting E2

    I really don't get it. wouldn't a 3D touch for $15 be 100x better than this for $20? yes it doesn't compensate for bed leveling, but you can use the mesh values to adjust your bed!

    • @Crosslink3D
      @Crosslink3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to level the bed from time to time for best results it does not matter if you have a probe. If you need parts with perfectly flat undersides this is critical.

    I have a background in electronics and I can tell you one thing for sure, it's ridiculously overpriced. Dunno why there aren't any Chinese knockoffs yet. However I like CHEP's Filament Friday channel so I'm asking myself why not buying one of those to support the channel instead of building one myself 🤔

    • @jimjones8428
      @jimjones8428 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm an engineer and I will say since YOU believe it is so ridiculously overpriced, why don't you...
      1. Design your own PCB
      2. Design the plastic end piece
      3. Get the the PCBs manufactered
      4. Get the tooling done for the plastic end piece
      5. Get those plastic pieces manufactured
      6. Get all of those along with the switches, battery holders, batteries and leds to an assembly house...along with all the packaging, btw
      7. Get the finished product imported so you can start selling them for $5 each and realize your reasonable profit margin.
      And I said "imported" because there is NO WAY you will get all that done, in this country today, and be able to sell it for less than CHEP is selling his.

    For the people confused:
    The E leveler uses a print file that stops at a point higher then the home BUT at the hight where the leveler has the marked center point after the print is done it will go back to home and the regular printing height.(if you're still confused there's no hope for you)
