  • Testing out Hot Shot's Secret Stiction Eliminator on our high mileage Ford PowerStroke Diesel. We ran it from 375k to 385k using it in 2 oil changes.
    Find out if it made any difference.

    Another huge plus is that it sounds like you somehow have an earlier Non-inductive heating flash on your FICM. The latest flashes cover stiction up and compensates for bad injectors to the point of failure. Don’t ever get your truck reflashed, enjoy the power and better fuel economy. 👍🏻

    Huge difference. The "sound" is the sound of a diesel you wont get rid of that.
    Your cold start without the additive soundded very choppy and a bunch of hard clacking.
    After the additive it started smooth and no chop. Even sound

      It seemed to smooth out the idle a bit. Unfortunately, in our case, the injectors were too far gone and had to be replaced. The truck has over 400k miles now and runs as good as she did new!

    I used the Stiction after 50k miles on my Ram Ecodeisel to clean it out. Changed the oil after 10k miles, which created a rear main seal and a valve cover leak. My guess, it cleaned out the crud that was covering the issue. Took it to the dealer, who covered the leaks under warranty! Looks like I timed it perfectly (totally by accident). Anyway, my advice is to use it just before your warranty is up so it can clean it out and expose any issues. Thank you! Not sure id use it now that my truck is out of warranty. The crud is sealing my motor.

      As a mechanic that works regularly on ancient engines the crud sealing leaks on the inside of the engine is pure bs. Even on a engine that’s seen a lifetime of lead fuel. Lots of crud but it’s not sealing anything

    Is there such a thing as too many additives? I already put a zinc additive. Could even more additives alter the oil lubricity?

    • @HufflerGarage
      @HufflerGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most quality oil has enough additives. I would be afraid of mixing too many.

    • @TeamTopKick
      @TeamTopKick 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What diesel do you have? Older diesels need a zinc additive or a oil with a high level of Zinc/ZDDP and every diesel benefits from a diesel fuel additives. Only reason they stopped putting alot of zinc in todays low emmisions oils is because it damages the emissions equipment and zinc isnt good for environment. Old diesels need it. Once they made diesel into low sulfur it became less lubricated so a diesel fuel additive with a lubricant will help all diesels. Makes injectors last longer.

  • @yohnny8839
    @yohnny8839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Stiction has to do with the injectors. Nothing with the friction in the engine. Lol. The poppet valves in the injectors get stuck and don’t have time to open all the way, meaning it will run poorly until the oil heats up and thins out.

    • @ALW96
      @ALW96 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It works on not only injectors but anything the oil comes in contact with buddy. Turbo bearings, oil lines, etc.

    • @doug3805
      @doug3805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right. It is the build up of the cooked oil causing the injectors not to fire.

    • @therenboster3024
      @therenboster3024 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right but in his case it would be spool valves. That's the difference between the 7.3 and 6.0 heui systems. 7.3 is poppet and 6.0 is spool. It's the same reason 7.3 are much more forgiving.

    • @brandonfuhr5459
      @brandonfuhr5459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Austin Williams is correct, anywhere the oil may heat up and become burnt. The burnt oil will adhere itself to moving parts surface's. The product eliminates that from happening on a molecule level. Example, look in the valve cover before using it and then after about 12 or 14 treatment's, you will see the difference right before your very eyes

    In my opinion this isn't really necessary if you do frequent oil changes what would be more beneficial is the Lucas oil stabilizer at high miles or something similar

      @@HufflerGarage its archoil ar9100 friction modifier. I'm pretty sure you can use it as both, but don't quote me on that I'm no expert. I learned about it having a sticking injector and it works awesome. It's basically a bandaid if your at that point tho lol. I dump the whole bottle in when i change my oil and truck runs smoother, starts and idles way smoother.

      I used the archoil and it didn't do any better on my 2002 7.3. #4 and #8 are still bad when cold but do okay when hot. I'm going to replace them this fall.

    • @upnorth6.0
      @upnorth6.0 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @LemonySnicket-EUC it only seemed to help when I first noticed I had an injector/s sticking. They eventually reached a point where I had to replace them because the truck would shudder and have low power when cold. I definitely noticed a difference using archoil in the early stages of them going bad though. Since then i put 205/30 Holders injectors in and they're awesome.
