@@TheAsgardMedia In Australia because Toyota's are extremely popular older Toyotas appreciate well my 27 year old Toyota Hilux which l bought 5 years ago for aud $1500 now today l couldn't buy a 1997 Toyota Hilux rear wheel drive single cab chassis with an aluminium tray for $1500 l would have to pay aud $5000 to $6000 for a Hilux so older Toyota's are still reasonably cheap a couple of years ago you could of got them cheaper and in Australia we have a Toyota Tax it's nothing to do with the government it's to do with how good Toyota's are and popular
@@lesklower7281 paid $2500 for my 34year old 80 series Landcruiser 15 years ago have been offered $25k plus for it. I wont sell it also have a 97 75 series Landcruiser. Always wanted one of these 1st gen rav4s have had a few 1st and 2nd gen 4 runners but the prices on old yotas in Australia has gone crazy in the last 4 or 5 years.
How are the modern engines compared to the old 3S workhorse in terms of reliability? Coz if they're better that combo would definitely be the ultimate SUV...
Toyota didn’t invent the compact suv and this story even contradicts itself. At 3:39 it says the Rav4 hit the streets in 1994 and Toyota “introduced the compact SUV to the world” but at 2:34 it says “taking the Kia Sportage as a model”? Obviously the Kia was already out (1993) for Toyota to use it as a model. The Suzuki Sidekick was being built in Japan and sold in the US back in 1988.
You're right, and the story doesn't say Toyota inverted. Toyota simply perfected the compact SUV. Yes the Kia sportage was there but how many people actually owned it? Very few. But the Rav4 was so good when it came up that in essence it was a benchmark for SUVs. I love the fact that you paid great attention when watching... ❤️
Well, Toyota markets it as a 'Crossover SUV'. It is a SUV but of course differently built from your Traditional SUVs like the Land cruiser which is also a legend in its own right. Crossover, SAV(Sports Activity Vehicle for BMW) are all marketing terms but ultimately all refer to vehicles under the SUV category, whether compact, sporty or traditional.
@@TheAsgardMedia I understand there is no legal definition of “SUV.” But I think most enthusiasts would agree that it’s a truck-based vehicle with a wagon body. If the RAV4 is an SUV, then so is a Subaru Outback.
I bought brand new 2016 corolla and it was my most problematic car ever. After 3i years I sell it cuz I can't relay on it. Almost every month the car had major mechanical problem like engine, transmission, breaks and etc.. I was very disappointed by the service and the "repairs"... I will never buy new toyota again. This brand became one of the worst by terms of reliability and customer service. They are not trustworthy anymore.
Oh sad to hear that. It's strange coz Toyota is known for its reliability, and the corolla has been one of their flagship cars for a long time. Maybe it's due to too much tech in the newer models. Otherwise the older generation Toyotas are tough and well built! Maybe try the older models!
This is genuinely one of the best and well-made videos I have ever seen, great work 👏👏👏

I like the RAV4 infact l like all Toyota's

How I wish Toyota could put a modern engine in to the first generation RAV4. Size, off road capability, etc are no match.

you conviced me to want to buy a 1st gen rav4
Awesome! And you definitely won't regret it! 🙏
awesome video on the ever enduring RAV4
Thanks you... 🙏🙏

great video

I prefer the 3 Door Jimny
Yeah it's nicely compact. If storage and rear passenger space is not an issue, it's an ideal car.

Amazing job. Honda Legend Please .... Than Hilux :-P
Thank you... Definitely doing a Hilux, Honda legend I'll have to research on it have only heard about it's incredible reliability... 🙏🙏🙏
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the RAV4 is not even an SUV, it’s a crossover. The best Toyota SUV ever is undeniably the Land Cruiser.
