12:22 Please note this should say 1958 Ford Nucleon. My brain turned into a marble during the latter half of editing this video. Also changed the thumbnail as the old one was really bad lol.
I was about to say; with the increasing size of full-size and especially mid-sized trucks, small unibody trucks like the Honda Ridgeline, Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Ford Maverick have exploded in popularity for their ease of handling. I like them a lot, my Ridgeline is plenty enough truck for any job I can expect to need it for.
A concept so bloody stupid they removed _every single piece of switchgear_ and replaced it all with a touchscreen. A touchscreen you have to watch to navigate to the volume or Aircon or lighting while you are _actually driving._ Just because it looks cool. Could you imagine the accidents that would cause as people fiddled with the, I dunno, led colours, while at highway speeds?
All modern trucks pretty much look identical. If you took the badge off of these modern trucks it be hard to tell the difference. I'm more than happy to see them change things up. As there is clearly a market for these sorts of things. Beauty is subjective. That being said I'm not a fan of the cyber truck because of its cheap build quality, and the fact it really is more of a pavement princess advertised as fully capable truck.
fun fact: the 1955 Ford Mystere (seen briefly near the beginning of the vid, its the pink and black one) was later sold to a company in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and rebuilt into a batmobile inspired "advertisement on wheels" called the Chickenmobile (for a local chain called Chicken Delight) and it was often piloted by a man wearing a disheveled feather suit going by "the chicken man" it still exists and can be seen sometimes around Winnipeg oh also the Mystere is the car that Al in Toy Story 2 drives, for some reason
@@tablesizeproductions4360 yeahhhh...I think by the time they got it in the 60s it was already just a gutted shell so the underpinnings are something non original, seen it once and it certainly didn't have the stock engine I can say that much lol
"The car that Al in Toy Story 2 drives, for some reason" Al's Toy Barn has a chicken mascot, so Al wears a chicken suit and apparently gets called "chicken man". That's probably why.
@@ReddwarfIV WELL HUH...it only now hit me of that but it seems odd that an American animation studio would know of the cars fate especially in the days before anybody even knew about it (it seems like only in the last 10 or so years that people realized the origin of that mascot car) something something a113 conspiracy
That Maverick Estate is hilarious because while its ugly and ultimately a dead-end, its rear-end design is ahead of its time, and looks like it came off the rear of an 80s-to-mid 90s American sedan.
1954 Ford FX Atmos and the Nucleon would go on to inspire the cars of the Fallout games... They should have kept the Atmos as a museum piece. Would be such a cool thing too see when its not turning humans into kebabs.
The exploding Pinto story was generated by one magazine hit piece, that ignited public hysteria, that pressured the government to 'do something', who ran some fake crash tests that no car [of the era] could pass, but hey, that's all ancient history (read 'between the lines' of the Wikipedia article, it's all there)
I can't believe we were robbed of a Pinto II, I would have loved one of those to whip around my local dirt track. I guess I could just take a normal Pinto and modify it to look the part.
Europe car regulations: "you must make sure pedestrians can roll over the front in case of a crash, have good visibility to avoid hitting them" USA: PEDESTRIAN SHISH KEBAB
That Bronco Wildflower near the start honestly looks awesome. They totally should have put that into production. Even a limited run or something. Also the sudden apperance of that picture and sound effect at 12:29 made me laugh more than it should have.
The Pinto II and Mustang II, COMPARED to what we have today.. I'm gonna be honest, it ain't that bad.. Like as a grocery getter, I'd buy it. But as for the performance and bearing the name "Mustang?" Nah.
For me the best french concept cars that I have ever seen were those from the "Motobécane" museum in Saint-Quentin . The brand used to manufacture the highest quality bicycles, small motor bicycles, and bikes. They had an extreme monopoly in northern france after world war 2 all lf the way until the 80's, at the end of the 80's they started to lose huge amount of profits due to the much cheaper imported asian bikes and motorbikes and at that time they made small concept cars that would have been good in the 60's and in fact around 65 % of the entire museum were made of concept bikes ! Unfortunately the brand closed their last factory in 2004 and to this day theirs bikes are sold as much as their brand new price.
I will say, thank you for clarifying the effects of if the Nucleon was in a crash. There is a lot of misconceptions about how nuclear power works and what makes radiation hazardous. Also, I especially find it funny that Ford had explosive ideas for cars, even in the 50’s
Dodge Neon for Cyclists: I don't think that's worth 100K. Probably in the 20-30k range for a specialized trim. Maverick Estate: Yeah, that ass looks nastier than Nikocado's. Maxxcab: Oh yes... the Caravan with a truck bed. Pinto The Sequel: From the lack of documentation, I'm guessing they didn't fix the rear-ender problem. Also, the stripes adds an additional 20hp. Ford Atmos: Very retro, very sci-fi, but the controls would be a turnoff. '56 Packard Predictor: Well, it doesn't look that bad to me. Sir Vival: Very goody looking. Safety Car: The ugliest duckling built for it's namesake. I'M NUCLEONNNNN I'M WIIILLLDDD: The drivable nuke that doesn't exist.
Regarding the Neon Sport-Biker, there were at least two instances where rival automakers actually made special editions targeted at cyclists. In 1996, Volkswagen made Trek editions of the Golf and Jetta, and Ford followed this up in 2000 with the Focus Kona edition. In both cases, these special models even came with bicycles made by Trek and Kona respectively.
No whats crazy about that sports utility pickup thing is that it would actually sell well if people bought cars for what they actually use them for, most pickup drivers just use them to pick up groceries and do errands, never using them to haul or tow anything
0:09 that one is kind of neat. It is like a Corvette and a Cadillac had a baby... a Corvillac if you will. Wait a minute.. it is also reminding me of *The Car (1977)* 6:35 It might show my age, but frankly I was waiting for Denethor to jump off the nose.
I am so grateful that you clarified the info on the nucleon. It helps people like me move the future. ( for I would revamp that idea) Edit: NO! Not that I would revamp it. I will, And I will not stop till I do. . . .
Pinto 2 was a cobra 2 with the husk of a pinto around it. Many fords are interchangeable. Lots of mustang parts fit the ranger, for example. BTW, dodge maxi van was very similar to the explorer sport track, which could support the front end of the 500 and flex
I don't know why but the idea of creating a futuristic looking car in a time thats way ahead of it's current time period is kinda hilarious, its almost as if the guy who created it probably assumed that the jetson car would be what cars would look like in the future
The pickup Literally isn't that bad as a family vehicle. You can put a fuel storage in the bed for extended roadtrips or use it to store camping supplies. I like it.
hey I though the Maxxcab looked alright actually. Pinto 2 is kinda hot, someone could modify a regular one to make it look that way! FX Atomos looks so freakin' deadly, but it looks awesome too. The Predicator looks radical!! It hits that 'futuristic from the past's perspective' style perfectly, thank god it's preserved. Sir Vival is INSANE, and absolutely so cool because of it! Again, I'm super happy to hear it's been preserved, I'd totally own it. Aurora is super interesting, funny as hell story. Preserved too thankfully :3
It's sad to realize that the MaxxCab is basically what pickups are now. Just luxury suvs with a small ass bed and you have to pay a premium for a normal sized bed. The Maxx was just a decade too early.
Sedan's with the trunk replaced by a bed & 4-door pickups with extra short beds are good. Like the Ridgeline, Avalanche, Baja, that Dodge you ripped on. It's ugly, but so are the others, and sometimes you need to haul shit you don't want inside an SUV. Like...shit. Would you pickup 100lbs of manure with a Durango, or Pilot (etc...), or something like a crewcab el camino?

Another concept car ford is Ford Gyron, if I remember correctly, which had only 2 wheels and stabilized with a gyroscope
Omg when that came up I was like “They made another one?!?!? And it *exploded*?!?!!”
I thought u typed Luncheon😔
This new thumbnail is brilliant 😂
you're wrong about the MAAAAAXXXXXXXXX cab not existing anymore, it's now every single truck i see on the road
You're not even wrong.
Lol and Ford made the same thing just using the explorer instead of a minivan

Cyber truck is just like this
I think it would be funny to have a racing game based off of concept cars only
You're playing with fire there. Imagine having something from this video going up against the Peugeot Quasar...
They should remake Gran Turismo Concept. Played it as a kid, since I'm from Europe. It was never released in NA.
So did you hear of this silly car concept called: the cyber truck? Good thing that thing never was mass-produced 😂
For real, could you imagine how many problems it would've had. Sure am glad that Tesla didn't go ahead with it. 🤣

Knowing chrysler's track record, those concept cars are probably lurking in a warehouse or was sent to some museum's storage
the ford pinto sure looks like 🔥🔥🔥🔥 after a car lightly bumped into it
