For those who aren't car people, he is driving a McLaren 570S. It is a 562 horsepower rear wheel drive mid-engined supercar that is very light. It should be driven with respect. I almost died from some loser like this. Dude was driving 101 in a 50. He hit me and I seen my speedometer shoot up to 99 miles per hour as I lifted up and slammed my head into the roof of the car, the side window, and slammed back into the seat and broke the entire thing. I fractured my spine in so many places. Mainly micro fractures. They caused long term pain and joint instability in all my ribs on my left side, my si joint on both sides. My lower back. It destroyed my neck. I got a couple more surgeries left but it took 15 years of suffering in massive pain to get here. I’m glad they kicked him off I hope someone sues him or the state charges him for this.

The unofficial (and simplified) difference between the two is how long they manipulate a situation to achieve their goal, or “getting their ducks in a row”. Sociopaths do it in short bursts, whereas with psychopaths it’s longgg running games of it. So long that they might even forget the original goal.

    • @Gulyus

HIPPA affects only people who have a legal duty to protect your information, though. If your friend hands you their medical history and you shout it from the rooftops they can't technically sue you...for HIPPA violations at least.
Now, what DOES change things is if the cameraman was an employee of the idiot or just there to be there. If he is an employee and has his insurance through the company, THEN idiot has a legal duty to protect it under HIPPA.

With how much safer cars have gotten, as long as you wear a seatbelt and don't get unlucky, you can survive some incredible crashes without critical injury. Getting T-boned is still pretty dangerous, because there is no room for a crumple zone, but side-curtain airbags and frames that keep passengers from being crushed even make that much less dangerous than it was 25 years ago.

Sports car assists are not meant to be rain driving aides, and IF you use any of those assist while driving in the rain, the ODDS are very much higher that the car is uncontrollable.
For the most part when you're talking about assists in ANY vehicle, the ONLY THING that is happening is the computer is looking for a range of wheel speeds in comparison to engine rpm on a valuesheet that was calculated at a desk and using that information to apply braking to affected axles, sometimes to single wheels, to help slow the wheel speed....
MEANING that IF your car decided to hit the brakes in the rain because with ASSUMES you're spinning when you aren't, IT VERY WELL COULD SPIN YOU.
Learn to drive people, fuck assists, they aren't helping you at all, it is just more shit to break and an upcharge for the factory, and a feel-good line for the marketing team.... NOTHING REAL...

lmao 7 year olds in Dominican Republic can drive trucks. Just drive slow and make yourself known using blinkers and you'll be fine. Nearly every human being drives. You'll quickly realize that driving a car is just a better game controller. In fact many modern cars literally have video game-like interfaces (mainly hybrids and electrics).

Well nothing will ever be done about this guy. He is still going to be rich, still have friends that follow him around even if he doesn't care about their health or wellbeing, and he is going to keep making money for being a bad person. Why would he change when he really faces no repercussions?

I've seen tests by both Mythbusters and Try Guys. They both came to the same conclusion: distracted driving is worse than drunk driving.

McLarens are the legitimate definition of a smart hypercar, they literally try to make themselves move faster and faster. These cars are NOT meant for "children" to drive. The P1 pushes 180+ mph and they keep trying to move faster.

Thank God it was recorded. It really shows how fast you can lose control when your looking at a phone. Granted it was raining and he was going 70mph BUT the lesson is still there and hopefully the younger generations learns from this.

It would be nice if the judge even just gave him a week in jail. Something just long enough to go past being an interesting story for social media, and actually be an inconvenience. This isn't being impulsive, the recklessness is premeditated and done to make money, so the court system is more likely to take it seriously.

Mustang driver here, the fact the curb weight of that McLaren is both lighter and faster is legit nuts. And Mustang are dogshit enough as is on wet roads.

He not only asked his now injured cameraman to record it, he asked him to record it ON THIS PHONE TOO...
Meaning, he was already having him record and didn't think to say, 'HEY, BUDDY, YOU'RE INJURED, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT RECORDING RIGHT NOW.'

A teenager (16 at the time) in Michigan killed his friend in a crash because he drove recklessly. They hit a speed of 105 before the crash. This happened last year.
Doherty and the cameraman are mad lucky.
