    I used to think every investor lose out during inflation, meanwhile, some make millions. I also thought everybody went out of business during the Great Depression, but some went into business. The bottom line, there's always depression for some and profit for others, it all starts with having the right mindset. That said, I've set asides $250k to invest for the future, unfortunately, I'm a complete noob.

      @Grab A Phone | Tech Guy yes my comment is only regarding 2.5% interest which SGB provides. Consider the example where you invested ₹100 as principal amount so with 2.5% P.A. Simple Interest you would always get 2.5₹ per year and not 2.5% on the incremented value (i.e after 1 year you won't get 2.5% on 102.5₹).

There are many people out there who say all kind of good and bad things about you but I think it all boils down to the person who is taking that information how you want to use it. Thank you. Keep up the good work as many people like me need such financial education.

    I have a question. Apart from other forms of gold, as an Indian, we must have it in the jewellery form as well. Considering this, should I buy gold/bar today and later ask the jeweller to make jewellery out of it in future. Or should I directly buy Jewellery. The reason I'm asking this question is because of the difference between buying and selling the price of gold

    Do we have to sell SGB after maturity or we can keep it as long as we want?

  • @gauravwalia2k7
    @gauravwalia2k7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for the information Ankur. I have 1 question. Say, if I buy SGB today from secondary market which will be expiring in 2025 (which was issued by RBI in 2017 and I bought in 2023) and sell it on maturity, would i be eligible for exempt in long term capital gain tax although my selling - buying period is less than 3 years.

    • @GurdeepSingh-bo7yg

      Section 47 does not distinguish between redemption made out of purchases made on primary and secondary market. As long as it is redemption, the same is not considered a transfer and no capital gains would arise. If you sell it before maturity, then CG would arise and we need to factor in STCG/LTCG.

    One of the biggest advantages of physical gold is that it can be pawned anywhere for money. If you need money for an emergency all other assets take more time to liquidate to cash, physical gold can be liquidated very quick.

    Dear Ankur Sir, I would like to point out one thing, in relation with SGB it's that we don't have flexibility of keeping the bond. Sorry I might be taking about timing the investment but as gold prices moves very slowly some people after investment for even 8 years might not have such appreciable returns which they could by investing for say 10 to 12 years or more. I think may be, by including this in your video people would get a broader perspective for investment in Gold.
    By the way I love your videos, keep giving us such great insights .....
