Madam, @2:51 CAGR computation is wrong.
You have computed CAGR assuming that the period of investment is only 1 year.
However, as per the chart shown, the number of years of investment is 5. So the CAGR is 9.93%

If I buy this from Stock Exchange and not during initial issue, how does the computation of 8 year lock in period happen in this case? Also the long term capital gain on this purchased will be valid?

Why are you considering 5 years ago gold price when gold bond is for 8 years take 8 year historic gold price you will see growth of only 13% hiding facts is not quality content. If you take 13% return then bank fd is better than sovereign gold bond.
And at present equity fall and gold rise so when economy will be on track gold price will fall as they are inversely proportional so gold price will not rise 30 to 35% is high probability chance.
I would prefer fd atleast I will be sure how much I will get and both gives simple interest.
Further if you do maths 2012 and 2019 gold prices
      2012 it was 31050 after 8 years 2019 it was 35220
So return is 13 % divide by 8 years its 1.67% and 2.5% per year so total is 4.17% which is lower than current fd rate and current gold prices are too high to invest in this.

Your lectures are awesome, keep it up.
My question is about SGB of the last week of August 2020 which will be sold at INR 5117 per gram. Is it good to buy it at such higher price? I mean prices has been grown because of international market situation, may be covid impacts etc but is it good to buy it now or prices of SGB may goes down in future?

    1. Can I keep the bonds for more than 8 years or I must have to redeem them on maturity?
    2. Is investing in SGB is a better option or mutual funds because they provide much better returns than SGB.

If you apply for paper cert no need of demat. If you apply for demat format u have to keep demat account active for 8y. If you have in demat format then you can sell on nse etc and then u can close demat account. I am not an expert

So out of scope for GST purpose

My request is “mam can u make a small/quick video on all long term(SGB’s, MF’s etc.,) options available online”.

Ma'am, first of all, I'd like to appreciate your efforts as your videos are very informative and they have made me start investing in the stock market. I have a question regarding SGB when we trade on gold bonds, Is there a gold reserved by the name of the owner in a physical form ?? Like when we buy equity, we own a small proportion of the market value of the company. Is that the same case in SGB also?

@@tanmaychoudhury8349 I think we get the interest. But we need to consider one more main point while buying in secondary market.. i.e. if SGB bond was issued long back..at that time suppose issue price was 3500. .but currently we buy for ~4900 in secondary market. But we get 2.5% interest on issue price (based on 3500). Better to check the issue price also while buying

Thanks for the very informative video, the fact is today I was myself looking at these to invest for myself as having gold in physical form can be tiresome.
    1. Do I get CAGR over the period of suppose 10 years on for example 50 gms of gold?
    2. As an NRI can I get these SGB cashed out anywhere in the world after my maturity ? I guess that's your home work? LOL.... Great Job

    1) Why cant we buy SGB (Issued before few years) directly from secondary market which are available for discounted price and lesser maturity period?
    2) Do we get 2.5% interest in case if we buy SGB from secondary market and keeps till maturity ?
