    Hello, Where is the crankshaft sensor of cabriolet 1987 ? My mechanic is not sure if that part comes in that type of engine. Help, please!

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These cars do not have a crankshaft position sensor. All of the timing is based on the position of the ignition distributor.

    hey bryan. is there a reason why my o2 sensor would be stuck on .8v? also my frequency valve isn't buzzing and duty cycle comes out to 11 instead of 50+-

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has been a long time since I worked on these cars regularly (like 22 years). I would guess that either there is something keeping it from going into closed loop therefore the frequency valve wont do anything or the O2 sensor is dead. The O2 sensor for one of those cars should be pretty cheap.

      @@bryansprojects3570 yea its definitely stuck in open loop. Ill try replacing the o2. Thanks

    Hello Bryan, I have a question about the additional boost valve (2) page 5-28 idle speed boost valve. (fig 5-17) brown is ground, and the wire color green got cut and I"m not sure where is the end connection close to the front right side light as a reference location. could you help me? I have a 1988 Cabriolet,.
    Also thank you for this video. it will help me to adjust the idle. I just to do it just by sound, Now I understood the reason for that connection and the use.

      I am sorry I can't help that car is located 300 miles away and I likely won't be back there until late spring. I would be too concerned it looks at though it just turns on when the AC is on to increase the idle speed and help AC cooling.

    Couldn't see a dam thing on the multimeter, was really getting into your video but no visible readings??

      I am sorry the meter did not show up. I try to set up these shots the best I can, but sometimes I see the end result weeks later when I am putting the video together.

    I own a 1990 cabriolet that has ignition problems. I want to fix it and don't know where to start. I also believe the car has issues with the mixture. I think these cars are a lot of fun to drive.

    Do you happen to have electric schematic of sensors around K-Jetronic? We have a Scirocco '91, 1.8 8v, and it was switched to carbs. While doing so, somebody cut off some sensors on left side of the engine bay (looking at the engine) - so we have 6 wires for 3 sensors and dont know which go where :D colors are: black, black, brown, brown/black, green/wite and red/white. Bundle is behind engine, below inlet manifold. I know some wires goes to that relay or what it is, mounted on the right shock absorber.

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Bently manual that was in the video. The relays on the shock tower are for the fuel injection. If I get time I will study the diagram and respond.

    Bryan,
    Thanks so much for all these videos, they have been so helpful with my 92 cabby. Im having trouble with a hunting idle. I started with fixing all the vacuum leaks I could find, including ordering a new idle air adjustment screw because it appeared to be missing altogether. I went to put it in today and it turns out that a previous owner must have attempted to tighten it down and snapped off the head. What's your professional opinion? Any suggestions?
    thanks,

      Is yours a K jet like this one or is it Digifant? Our '93 is Digifant.

    • @samuelprieto7475
      @samuelprieto7475 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bryansprojects3570 its a 92 digifant I. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it, theres a yellow plug where the idle air adjustment screw should be. I've been through the forums and am very confused.
      thanks again, the videos are so helpful.

    I have an 86 golf with cis on my setup the throttle body and injection is on the opposite side. I understand the adjustment, but where would I hook up my leads for the swell meter on my car?

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly dont remember and I sols the Golf manual I had. As I recall the plug is the same and so are the wire colors, brown and blue/ white. I want to say it is the same vicinity but I am not positive, it may be over near the brake booster.

    Any chance you can give me some ideas on what the issue might be on why my 87 VW Cabriolet Chokes out almost immediately after turning on.

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our red one has been doing that now until it warms up completely. It is like it may not be getting enough fuel. The pressures behave properly so I think my problem may be in the fuel distributor. I have seen where the rubber o rings can be replaced in them. I might try that next. Unfortunately I think the last k jetronic VW was in 1992 so I doubt there a lot of people that can work on them anymore.

      I hope so too. You might also need to look for a vacuum leak. The accordion boots on the inlet pipe can develop cracks that you cannot see.

    Hellow i hope you can help me out you seem to know a lot about cabriolets
    I just buy a 85 cabriolet by karman with the 1.8 and got a lot of old gas on it so i just take the tank out put a new one in change both the fuel pump inside and out side(i did broke the fuel reserve filter waiting for the one to came in) put brand new sparkplugs on it new coil new cables for the sparkplugsbut the car is just starting and then dying a few seconds later when i try to give it gas it dies right away do you know was could be happening or where can i star also change the fuel pump relay

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i would guess that you have clogged fuel injectors or lines running to the injectors.

    • @Citadeltactical
      @Citadeltactical 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your fuel distributor is probably stuck. I just did the same thing to my 87 Cabriolet. I removed my tank and derusted, repaired wires on my fuel sending unit, replaced both fuel pumps, and fuel accumulator. It would start briefly and then cut off. I removed CIS and the fuel distributor and cleaned thoroughly with carb cleaner in every port but I didn't remove the plunger. I made sure it would spring back correctly which it did after cleaning. I then sprayed WD-40 in every port on the fuel distributor and let it sit overnight. Reinstalled and bled the fuel at the control pressure valve (i.e. top braided line on fuel distributor) Started up on first go, but you will have extremely rough idle for a while. I'm waiting on a new set of Injectors now.

    could you help me out? I've timed my 87 cabby, starts up perfect it idles smooth at 1000rpm but will choke and stall when i press the gas. won't run correctly unless i advance the distributor ALOT and even then it still won't rev past 4000rpm struggle for power and it will hesitate and jump upon acceleration. ive replaced all vacuum lines among other things and am currently at a loss

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be a lot of things. You really need a fuel pressure gauge to check the control pressure. Once you can check fuel pressures you may need to pull the fuel injectors to make sure they are all spraying. That can become a can of worms too.
