I try using it on handmade cotton paper and it did not work very well. It got lines across the paper while writing the letters. Any tips on how to fix this?
I’m a beginner, I’m going to make my bridal shower invitations and I want to use the vellum material and foil for the writing should I use foil vinyl instead?
@@MakersGonnaLearn Y'all really need to communicate more. In this video you state that you can use vellum. Seriously, your credibility is valuable, and with you contradicting your own videos it seems like you don't have a clue what's going on.
Hello! Thank you so much for the video! I just got my quill pen and was wondering if there was a way to get the quill to fill in letters to make a solid foil letter? For example, the card in front of you in this video, would it be possible to print the word "LORD," or "TODAY" in solid foil rather than just the outline?
Yes - at least in Silhouette Studio. While in DESIGN mode, go to "Line effect panel" and try filling the letters (you'll find several options there). It may help to create the outlines of the letters first.
I always keep a USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female Adapter Cord - 1 foot on every usb I use. Normally a devices usb goes bad with repeated connect and disconnection of thumb drives and other devices. I have repaired many USB ports because the internal connection has become loose. The repair or replacement is itself easy, but getting to the motherboard can be a pain. For example I have to remove a laptops screen to access the motherboard. Save yourself money and aggravation by using an extension cable for any usb port you use on a regular basis.
Could this be used by hand with it plugged in a power bank instead of using my Cricut? Meaning if I wanted to use it on a wooden sign or watercolour, etc?
I have done it- It's not THAT hot. It's just warm, unless you touch the actual tip. I will say try it! It's fun! I learned that a lot of pressure didn't get me the best results, but when I lightly pressed over the foil, I had amazing results. The hardest part is not being able to see where you are pressing because the shell around it comes down quite a bit.
Denise, I've thought about it myself. I just wonder how much the foil sheet can handle since that could potentially be really hot and it's plasticy. I would try it on a crap piece of wood at a low temp first and work your way up. I REALLY want to know your results so share if you can.
That’s interesting! Thanks for sharing and now you’ve given me an idea to try my wood burner first. I have one that is low temp as well and maybe if I lay a piece of Teflon down, it may work even better. Could draw a copy of the design and transfer it with chalk onto the Teflon, taping each layer so they don’t move. Worth a try. If not, I’ll be giving this a try. Thanks again for sharing info!
Haha, was stingy with my foil and messed up 3 writes, some of the foil hit my mat and now I have a pretty gold square, lol. I wish you made this video earlier 😬😬😭😭😂😂
Makers Gonna Learn, I am new to cricut. I’ve purchased the cricut maker and it is currently on its way to me 😁😁 so any guidance would be amazing 👌🏼 thank you. I am wanting to try and do my own planner inserts :)

How do you line fill with this using design space
I would like to know as well.
This is awesome because I just got my foil quill set!
Wow! That's great! Thank for watching 😊
Just started working with my foil quill so these tips are very timely! Thanks, Tanner.
Thank you so much Nikki 😊
Hello what if the foil keeps ripping even though i tapped everything down?
I keep getting lines on my acrylic sheet. Can you tell me whqt i am doing wrong.

I just bought one today, exited to use it.
YAY! You'll enjoy using these on your projects!
Hi, if I use vellum, should put it on the light mat? Because I just got a new cricut and the foil quill. Thanks
Yes vellum is very delicate. Use the LightGrip mat, don't use more pressure or fast mode either. Happy crafting!
Can we use Vellum material with the foil quill?
You cannot

It isn't limited to materials/surfaces that are smooth. It can be used on wood and leather with zero issues.
That's amazing!
have yall done a tutorial on doing the foil quill on top of vinyl with the silhouette?
We have never tried foiling on vinyl, not sure it will work!
@@MakersGonnaLearn But in this video you said you can foil quill over vinyl!
Do I have to use their foil paper or Can I use any other brand ? Great video btw thanks
As far as we know you can only use their brand :)
@@MakersGonnaLearn Again, in this video you said you can use any heat reactive foil!

Kim Warren I heard someone did this on another site but it gets hot on your fingers.
Denise Forsythe thank you for your reply I was wondering if it got hot. Might be worth a try with an oven UGH glove.
