Mute and unmute-Such an important feature. More people by now should've learned how important it is to mute yourself during these meetings. Great job with this video. Keep up the great work 👏🏽
THANK YOU!!!! You are the only one who really took me from the REAL beginning to the basics! OUTSTANDING job. It seems like a lot of Zoom is somewhat intuitive once you get the feeling of it. Good product and the BEST teacher I've ever had. 👍👍
Your tutorial is better than most. Still it amazed me that you did not cover both aspects that a beginner is needing to know right away: You did well on "How to Join a Meeting." But there was nothing about the crucial "How to Host a Meeting and notify your potential viewers how to find and log on to the Zoom program you are hosting at the right time/date!!! I still haven't a clue. So I can't host a meeting until I learn this!
When I hit age 70, I thought I knew enough computer-eze to carry me the rest of the way, LOL! Well, I never anticipated Zoom! My children tech supports up and left home and forced me to learn this myself. Thank you Claudia, for spending so much time on just the basics. So many vids want to teach me all kinds of Zoom tricks, but assume I already know the simple stuff. You gave me the foundation I needed to actually go to a zoom meeting. Thank you, thank you!
This was very helpful, but because it's my first time and the class I will be attending via Zoom is so important ... I believe I will watch this video again.. thanks
Thank you for making this video. It's so easy to understand. I've watched some other videos but they were so complicated that I just gave up. You are a really good teacher. Have an awesome day!
I agree! Your sweet teaching style/vibe is really beautiful and so perfectly in layman's terms! Well done and thank u! Very grateful for beings and souls like u!🤗
Yours is the 3rd Zoom tutorial I've clicked on. I will see if I can keep up. I could not with the others. People just rolling the info off their tongue. When teaching, presenters need to go much slower. Listener is having to remember, take notes maybe, is likely hearing new vocabulary, etc. All these things require a presenter to slow way down.
Loved this video. I have been using zoom as an online teacher for the first time in my teaching career. It is pretty challenging. But, I learned a lot and I also love purple! Nice earrings also. Thanks for smiling and keeping it simple.
This is so helpful, thank you for taking the time to make this! I’ve got two job interviews next week and they both want to meet on zoom, so this is the first time I’ll have to use it 😬
It really is fairly straightforward. Just download it and get started. See yourself in the camera. Hear yourself speak. See what buttons there are on the bottom of the screen. U really will be absolutely fine. 🤗Have fantastic meetings!!🥳💥
Thanks for your time to make this video 👍 Usually folks with no knowledge of the new gadgets on social media get so frustrated on simply turn it on. I appreciated thank you😊
Thank you for this video, I have to attend a meeting tonight and haven't used zoom before, so this helped me get some idea of what to expect since I am very anxious about it lol
It is also very important to show people how to "True Mirror themselves" (non-reversed mirror mode)! Look for yourself the first minutes I can see your natural self (non-reversed) but when you turn on zoom video there is your mirror image! Here is the "How to" by John Walter the maker of the True Mirror: "Did you know you can change the reversal of your own video on a Zoom call? It normally defaults to a mirrored version, because in typical fashion, Zoom, along with most selfie picture modes, assumes the common notion that we prefer our backwards, mirrored image. It's usually mainly because we are used to it, but there's a problem with that: Our faces just don’t communicate naturally backwards, our expressions really look and feel differently when flipped. Everyone else sees our faces forwards as it is, Zoom sends it out normally, but for us, we are always seeing our expressions with that mirroring effect. It's a weird thing, and while we are used to our faces this way, I believe that it's somewhat dehumanizing when we see ourselves backwards with constantly altered, even somewhat fake expressions. Because the mirror doesn't communicate properly, most people just stare at themselves in mirrors, or with a highly reduced set of expressions, with most of the ones with light and life in them missing. This is the whole idea behind a True Mirror, where you can make eye contact with yourself correctly, in action, and have normal self-communication as a result. But on Zoom, you are supposed to be actively communicating, so instead of staring at your backwards face like a mirror, you see all your expressions, but weirdly flipped with those altered meanings. In real time, its just not you looking back from the screen, and like I said, its somewhat dehumanizing. But good news! You can un-click the “Mirror my video” selection in the video settings and then be able to see yourself naturally for the entire duration of the call. Your smiles, thoughts, expressions, feelings etc will be reflected in the video much more normally, and so your conversation can be much more normal and even vibrant!. Here’s how to do it: Start your zoom session, either by joining a meeting or starting your own. (The below image is my face as it would come up by default…mirrored, as you can see with the writing on the package. And yes, this is my Covid-19 hairstyle, hope it's not too bad! 🙂) So when you are in the session, if you go to the bottom of the screen with your mouse you will see a video icon that says “stop video”, but also with a small up arrow next to it…press that up arrow to bring up the video settings option. Once in video settings, you will see the “Mirror my video” option…un-click it. Check that you can read writing in the new setting. That’s it! Now whenever you connect, it will always be your true image looking back. Now see how that feels, especially during a call, when you can glance back at yourself and see you in all your glory! Write to me with your experience…especially after using this a while and see if your Zoom calls don’t feel better! Now if they could only embed the camera right in the middle where our eyes are, so we could actually make eye contact…now that would be something! Great job. Claudia, your more understandable and eady than others I. Have looked st. I. Have friends now who have meetings on zoom. They want me in have never tried it. Thanks sweetie, really grest job explsining it all. GOD BLESS. HAVE A HAPPY EASTER.
Very clear instructions. When I use both my iphone and ipad as dual view, how do I know which one is picking up my sound, how do I know which one is picking up the video, and how do I not get audio sound feedback? Lots of questions.
Hi Kay, the best thing to do is mute your sound on one or the other. That will stop the audio feedback. You can also turn off your video on your phone for example and just use the iPad for video.
Thank you, Very Helpful. I tried to leave a comment on your bloopers video but it disappeared when I tried to send it. Anyway, this one is so well presented and the other one is so funny I had to subscribe! I'll be watching more of your videos.
This is a very clear video exploring the basics of zoom. However I am still not sure how to start a pre scheduled meeting as host? Perhaps someone could clarify this for me?
Sorry to contaminate the lake of praise for this video, Having found the absence of any decent effort by Zoom to consider absolute rookies, I hoped that the most basic instruction in how to set up and host a meeting would be found here, starting with explanations of (1) Why IDs and passwords are needed (2) what the 4 coloured options do (3) how to invite people (4) can a contacts list be created ? (4) how? I find the opacity of this system extremely frustrating,
Helpful….how about a video on using a I-Pad where your not using a mouse. One thing would be helpful to show how to insert a photo while in a meeting to show everyone this photo then switch back to your video image.
Hi Claudia, How do I know when someone is waiting to be added to the Zoom meeting? I've set up 2 meetings so far, and no one has been able to get on with me. Any ideas about what went wrong?....common mistakes?
Thank you for easy to understand video. You are good at teaching skill. Would you mind if i use this video for support my H5P material for my student in our LMS? I will inform you the URL of our LMS to see my H5P material.
Thank you for your tips! I wonder how, as a host, we can generate the links so the participants join the meeting? I am new to this, can you help me, Claudia?
I feel really bad because everyone is saying how wonderful this was and how easy it was to understand. You lost me even at the beginning Because I really didn't know what you were talking about! I've never done zoom And I appreciate this video but I still don't know how to do it, Probably because when you said to go into settings or whatever it was that you said I don't even know how to do that, where to find it on my tablet, or what it even means so I will probably watch some other videos to see if they are any better for me. Thank you though 😔😢
I found the video informative. I have to tell my daughter about the snapchat feature of Zoom, if she doesn't know it already. Her friends find her snapchat caricatures of me eating funny!
Mute and unmute-Such an important feature. More people by now should've learned how important it is to mute yourself during these meetings.
