Too slow really... like she thinks most of her audience doesn't speak native English... I admire that consideration but it makes her seem a little loopy at the start of the video.
As a senior, I thank you for taking the time to make this video on TH-cam. Your presentation doesn’t seemed hurried and your speech is not rapid. Thus making it easy for one to follow. I feel confident about learning this program. Thank you, again.

Even your *virtual* presence is confident and reassuring, so I can imagine your clients appreciate you greatly. I will be pointing each of my clients to watch this super helpful video ... Thank you so much, Marcia!
Hi Bethanie, Thank you for moving to online classes so that those seniors (and others) can keep doing chair yoga! I appreciate knowing that this video will help. :-) If you are new to hosting Zoom calls, this video might be useful: th-cam.com/video/hI32Xk2Va7M/w-d-xo.html
Hi Bethanie, I hope you got all of your clients to follow you onto Zoom. You're making a great contribution servicing seniors. Keeping them inspired, strong & flexible means they're able to enjoy a better quality of life. Committing to exert a small effort, repeated every day, over 6 months to a year, can build a weak or overweight person into a nearly unrecognizable healthy & fit new person. I saw several mind blowing testimonials from DDP Yoga (Diamond Dallas Paige, former wrestler). He recovered from an injury using Yoga & developed a program to help others with disabilities. He modified poses to use chairs or other means of support to gradually help clients modify their lifestyle with movement & diet to reclaim their health. Many underwent seemingly impossible transitions & were nearly unbelievable. They kept mini time stamp videos as a journal to show their progress as proof. Any one that feels defeated should watch that & they'd be encouraged to try. Wishing you & your clients wonderful success & abundant Blessings!
Why is it that so many guys speed through the tutorial thinking you are as experienced as them, Marcia your description & pace is perfect, even my dog understood? Thanks a million.
Thank you so much. I live an hour away from my workplace and often 1 hour "mandatory" meetings are held on my days off. I KNOW 😔! You are a life saver. I can join, along with many others, even if we are in the midst of enjoying what should be work- free time with our families. Yay! Thanks for keeping it straight, simple, and short. PS... I watched several other "simple, easy ZOOM tutorial" videos and yours is truly the only one that can claim that title.
Thank you for creating a clear, calm explanation of how to get started. I think that the older members of my organization will especially appreciate the easy, conversational tone of your step-by-step instructions. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm using Zoom with my senior students to help them stay active while we can't meet for class. Your thoughtful approach was perfect to share with them. They were understandably hesistant but willing to try and several of my students joined me for a virtual class. I think your video really helped.

The only thing I would add, I clicked onto join meeting half an hour before time due to start, not 10 mins beforehand, and glad I did so. Felt so much more confident that the programme was downloaded and the volume/camera was set up before the start, would have panicked if I had left it all to the last minute.
Thanks for this Marcia. I'm having to get my head round Zoom for the first time due to home working in this time of Coronavirus. @@ChadlyCreativeConsulting Excellent - thank you. I volunteer at at CCRC and some of the residents find Zoom-ing just a bit challenging. They love you ;-)
Thank you for this instructional video, Marcia. I am a singer (classical and jazz) in four ensembles of differing sizes, and have been using ConferZoom now for about five weeks for all of my classes and performance rehearsals - it works great, even for our large groups of up to 100 people. I also use it for my 1:1 tutoring and small group practice sessions. Our family just used it for the first time so that we could "get together" on Easter Sunday, and we had one person join us who is very "technically challenged" with all computer programs, and has never used Zoom before - so I had to talk her through the process, which was a bit of a hair-pulling exercise. It would have been so much easier for her, as well as for me, had she viewed your video prior to joining the call.A couple of comments:1) Although you did briefly mention the "Chat" feature, you didn't address the issue of appropriate and proper "Chat" etiquette or behavior. It would be a good idea to include more information about the Chat feature - how it functions, what the features and benefits are, when to use it and when not to use it, and to explain the pros and cons about sending out a chat message to everybody on the call versus sending a out a private message to just one specific individual on the call. That is a great benefit of the Chat feature, and should be used by a lot more people. In my experience with the large-group Zoom meetings, there are always a number of people whose online behavior is what I would call that of a "Chat Hog" - meaning, that they are sending out Chat messages to everyone all the time, even when it is not necessary to respond to someone's comment (it becomes Chat filler material and is very distracting for the rest of us to have to read or disregard...).2) You left out the "Participants" feature, which is also a great tool and is rather essential for larger-size groups, especially if the host is trying to take attendance or even for anyone who is trying to keep track of who is on the call. I use it heavily. Also, that way everyone can see who is using the "Raise Your Hand" icon in order to ask a question.3) I would also encourage you to include a brief tutorial in your video about the use of the icons:- "Applause" and "Thumbs Up"- "Yes" and "No"- "Go Faster" and "Go Slower"- and the rest of them - they are all really useful tools, especially for calls and meetings with more than 6 people. Thanks again -- Gina B.
Great ideas for further videos. Thank you! I purposely tried to keep this one short and cover only the basics. I plan to cover more topics like these in future videos.
You did an awesome job explaining. I watched this before I hosted my first conference call and everything turned out great. I have forwarded your video onto my co-workers. Thank you for sharing !!
Thank you Marcia! I'm retired and great with computers - shop and do everything on line, BUT I've never done a Zoom. A medical professional wants to do one, she just let me know. So from the time she called (a few minutes ago) I watched one short video on where to download it and yours on how to use it. Wow, I thought it would be so complicated and it's not - or you're so very good at explaining it. When I watch TV and people are using it, I kind of laugh when people often try to talk but they're still on Mute....so I'll watch that. Thanks again - you're great! i found this so helpful --thank you. being able to use this technology is no small thing for me (for us) right now. and your clear teaching style is deeply appreciated. grateful i found this. much thanks!!
Excellent presentation, slow and clear. I would make two suggestions. On a laptop, visually things appear much smaller. Enlarging the cursor and use word prompt to locate icons on interface would be helpful. Visually tracking a cursor on screen can be difficult if the cursor is moving two fast and it is too small. For example, I would say ," The mute bottom on the lower left of screen" while circling the cursor very slowly around the button, before clicking it. As an elderly crusty sculptor visual tracking is delayed when trying to follow verbal instructions at the same time. I greatly appreciate you efforts, I would like to try a zoom meeting with other sculptors.
I'm glad my videos are helpful! Thank you for your good ideas. I will keep them in mind for future videos. As a workaround for the videos where the cursor moves too fast, you could slow down the video speed. I hope your Zoom meetings go well!
Thank you. I'm working with an English language learner and I need to have some remote lessons with her. She is not very tech-savvy and I'm hoping that this video will be a help for her. I hunted around for a few videos that would give a clear and simple explanation on how to use zoom and yours looks like the best!
Thank you so so so so much! I’m pretty young and I moved to a different school which uses zoom. I was very scared at first and went through a lot of videos which didn’t help me calm down. I was about to give up until this video came up! I watched it and it helped me! I’m so grateful!
Marcia, excellent video! We are using ZOOM with our special ed students thus I am familiar with the process. Your tutorial was spot on, slow enough to absorb and shouldn't produce overload for the new ZOOM user. Thanks for sharing! Stay safe and THANK YOU!
Very clear instructions, Marcia -- thank you! I plan to share your video with several 70- and 80-somethings with whom I'll share a Zoom call in December.

This is great - I have some clients who are tech-beginners and this makes Zoom accessible to them. You speak at a lovely pace and explain things in simple terms. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for showing us how Zoom meetings work! I have to join a Zoom meeting today for the first time with my son's school and I have high anxiety especially when it comes to new things and not knowing how they work beforehand. This helps a lot, thank you so much!
This is great. Thank you. I've been coming up against seniors who are unfamiliar with technology and trying to talk them through setting it up for the first time. I like your video and teaching style. Is it possible for you to do a video for those with a smart phone? One lady I support doesn't have a computer. She has a samsung and I'm trying to help her but of course I can't see what's happening on her screen. So frustrating.
Hi Deborah, Thank you! I'm glad this information is a good resource as you are helping seniors stay connected! Doing a version using a smart phone is a good idea. All phones will be different, but seeing what happens on one phone may help someone figure out their phone. I'll see how my time goes in the next couple of weeks.
This is exactly what I was looking for...we have congregants in our church who have received an invitation and needed to see how to download and launch their first meeting. Thank you!
Thank you Marcia. I watched your Zoom video twice. With Covid19 uncertainties, I may have to do my teaching practice sessions remotely online and your tutorial has been very straightforward. My anxiety levels have dropped down. Thank you ever so much.
Excellent explanation! Thanks. We’re Zooming with our nephew who’s getting married tonight during this “most unusual time”? In our lives and in history. Zoom apparently is an improvement on Skype so, we’re looking forward to joining our family in a way we never expected. As it’s said, “A port in any storm”. Zoom is my nephew’s port to have his family share in his nuptials. Thank you again.
Creative Life Center yes, thanks to your excellent education, we’ re attending the wedding as I write this. It’s amazing & we’re so happy we could get together with >200 friends! Thanks again.
You have a very clear voice and your pacing is great for people new to Zoom. I would make one suggestion - your introduction is too long. The how only begins at the 1:13 mark. People will go to another video within 10-15 seconds if they don't get what they are looking for; the preamble about why and how you use it is not what people are looking for as your title is "Joining a Zoom Call for the First Time; Fun and Easy Online Connection".
Thank you! This is so helpful! My anxiety has gone down some now about joining my first call today for work! I’m 49 and I love your instruction style. My tech phobia is real! Thx again.
As so many others have said, you take this info slow and pared down to just the essentials so we boomers can join the Zoom revolution. Also, on another note, when we get to a flatter COVID curve I will be able to finally go to my hairdresser and get my mop cut off. I will show her your hairstyle because I want my crown and fringe area to look like yours. Thank you so much!
That, madam, was an excellent demonstration! Straight forward & to the point! Very much appreciated. I've tried several and yours was the ultimate best!
Thank You. I have a job interview as my first zoom call experience so was feeling an extra layer of nerves about looking incompetent with the technology just because I wasn't familiar with it yet.
Hi Marcia! This is a very clear and helpful getting started vid for Zoom. Thank-you for taking the time to put this together. My design will be scaled to the room. The design will involve celtic knots. Best wishes.

Thank you for making this so clear and easy to understand. You have such wonderful positive energy. It just made me so comfortable learning I had to watch a couple of times. I may watch it again just to enjoy it for that reason. I'm 55 and learning is more of a challenge. Wish you could be my teacher in every class and life lesson I need to learn. And I'm not just trying to flatter you. If the world had your positive and peaceful personality what a great world it would be.

Or at least link to a list of basic hot keys in the description, and tell us in the video.

Seemed like a mess of confusion~ but I will watch it again
I hope your confusion lessens when you watch again. If you have questions, let me know.
You’re right
Thank you. I'm working with an English language learner and I need to have some remote lessons with her. She is not very tech-savvy and I'm hoping that this video will be a help for her. I hunted around for a few videos that would give a clear and simple explanation on how to use zoom and yours looks like the best!
I hope it works for her! If she is joining by phone, this video may help th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks! You have a very pleasant manner and speaking voice, and offer a very succinct and straightforward explanation.
Have fun with Zoom!
Thank you so so so so much! I’m pretty young and I moved to a different school which uses zoom. I was very scared at first and went through a lot of videos which didn’t help me calm down. I was about to give up until this video came up! I watched it and it helped me! I’m so grateful!
I hope you enjoy your new school. 🙂
Thanks for such a comprehensive, easily understood presentation. As a former tech teacher, I cheerfully give you an A+++++!!!!!
Wow, thank you! :-)
Marcia, excellent video! We are using ZOOM with our special ed students thus I am familiar with the process. Your tutorial was spot on, slow enough to absorb and shouldn't produce overload for the new ZOOM user. Thanks for sharing! Stay safe and THANK YOU!
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much. You’ve taken a lot of the anxiety out of my first webinar tomorrow!
I hope you had fun with the webinar. :-)
Very clear instructions, Marcia -- thank you! I plan to share your video with several 70- and 80-somethings with whom I'll share a Zoom call in December.
Thank you! I hope you have a great call!
That will be Lovely. Show some Love is holiday
Well done! I am trying to share with my family so this is exactly perfect in just 8 minutes! Thank you!!
You are welcome! I'm glad it will help your family. If anyone is joining by phone , they can watch my joining by phone video th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
Hi Stacey
I watched several other tutorials and didn't understand the process. You made it sound so simple. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Excellent! Nice and easy pace respectfully taught! Well done!
Thank you :-)
First time zoom user. Thanks for including the app needs to be downloaded first. I was provided a link with a meeing ID & Passcode & no instructions. Thanks again.
I hope you enjoyed your meeting.
After using a tutorial, this video was very good at demonstrating things for a cyber-idiot such as myself. Thank you.
I'm glad it helped. Have fun with Zoom!
This is great - I have some clients who are tech-beginners and this makes Zoom accessible to them. You speak at a lovely pace and explain things in simple terms. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Alice, You're very welcome! :-)
Thank you so much for showing us how Zoom meetings work! I have to join a Zoom meeting today for the first time with my son's school and I have high anxiety especially when it comes to new things and not knowing how they work beforehand. This helps a lot, thank you so much!
I hope the Zoom meeting goes well for you! :-)
If they are joining by phone, my new video may be helpful th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
This is exactly what I was looking for...we have congregants in our church who have received an invitation and needed to see how to download and launch their first meeting. Thank you!
I'm glad it is helpful!
If you have people joining by phone you may want to share my latest video with them also - th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
I still don't get it
Thank you Marcia. I watched your Zoom video twice. With Covid19 uncertainties, I may have to do my teaching practice sessions remotely online and your tutorial has been very straightforward. My anxiety levels have dropped down. Thank you ever so much.
I'm glad you are feeling more comfortable! If you'll be hosting calls as well as joining them, I have other easy tutorials to help. :-)
What amazing stories they will have! Many blessings to them and your family.
Creative Life Center yes, thanks to your excellent education, we’ re attending the wedding as I write this. It’s amazing & we’re so happy we could get together with >200 friends! Thanks again.
@@denirn8725 This warms my heart - thank you for sharing this story with me!
THANK YOU - This is perfect for beginners - I loved that you spoke SLOWLY - I'll be sharing with my friends!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this great video! I am sharing with my choir so everyone can join my zoom meeting!
Great idea - have fun singing together!
Thank you for the suggestion - there is always more to learn! :-)
Thank you I really enjoyed your teaching. I am not feeling so overwhelm now
Wonderful!
Not only is this information extremely valuable, Ms. Marcia's delivery of it is certainly par excellence
Thank you!
It really excellent pretty sharming
Doesn't tell me where that information comes from on the first page. You need to start a bit further back. It assumes too much knowledge.
You will be sent that information by the person who is inviting you to the Zoom call - often by email or text.
Brilliant!! This is exactly what I needed to show my non-tech-savvy students how to do this!!! Thank you, Marcia.
You are so welcome! If they are using a phone to join, this video is helpful th-cam.com/video/VIRBixXSjOc/w-d-xo.html
Yes
Thank you! This is so helpful! My anxiety has gone down some now about joining my first call today for work! I’m 49 and I love your instruction style. My tech phobia is real! Thx again.
I'm glad you are feeling empowered! :-)
You are welcome! Have fun getting your hair cut!
That, madam, was an excellent demonstration! Straight forward & to the point! Very much appreciated. I've tried several and yours was the ultimate best!
Thanks!
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting You are richly deserving of the words: Your Welcome! :)
Thank You. I have a job interview as my first zoom call experience so was feeling an extra layer of nerves about looking incompetent with the technology just because I wasn't familiar with it yet.
You are welcome. I hope your interview goes well!
You're the only one who showed me what to do! Thank you!
I'm glad the video was helpful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this easy to follow tutorial! This is by far the best I have come across for a beginner!
You are so welcome!
Thank you. This is just what I needed for my clients who have not used Zoom before.
You're very welcome! If your clients are using their smart phone to join, this video can help them - th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much from a 68 year old senior. Excellent tutorial. I believe I'm ready for my first zoom session.
Have fun!
Hi Marcia! This is a very clear and helpful getting started vid for Zoom. Thank-you for taking the time to put this together. My current creative living project is that I want to get a laser etcher and design my own floor tiles for my office. I plan to cut 14 by 14 tiles out of 1/4 in wood sheeting. My design will be scaled to the room. The design will involve celtic knots. Best wishes.
Glad it was helpful! Have fun with your flooring.
Marcia...Thank you for this excellent video. You were clear, you did not talk too fast and you explained everything so easily and simply!
Glad it was helpful!
I found this helpful I have a interview tmrw zoom interview, I am now confident entering the interview and knowing how to use zoom
Thank you
I hope your interview goes well!
I am a Zoom newbie and this was very easy to follow. Thank you.
I hope you have fun using Zoom!
You right easy to follow. How was your day being today. I hope you are enjoying the holiday as much. ai will Love to have a word with you if you dont mind
You are so welcome!
WOW!!!! Amazing; Marcia, Thank you so very much. I will try this today; have a zoom at 1030 am. I enjoyed building my computer but I want to set up a new iMac pro. to join church services + teaching ASAP. Everyone needs a teacher like you; calm, reassuring, and caring.
I hope you have a fun adventure with everything!
Thanks, Marcia, this is simple and straight to the point.
I'm glad it was helpfu. :-)
Thanks, Marcia! Very clear and helpful I have my first meeting in about an hour. Now I know what to do!
I hope your meeting was fun!
Good to test the camera AND give the sound settings BEFORE you go to the meeting for the first time.
yes - that is a good way to prepare
This is so reassuring. Thanks so much. My first Zoom conference is next week. Now I know I can make it.
Have fun!
Thank you for making this tutorial simple and easy! It is a great service.
You're very welcome!
Thank you for a simple lesson in using Zoom. Am not a tech person but nowadays i have to use apps like zoom for a meeting with a lawyer or the management office when i am outside the country. This is really helpful 👍👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for posting this video. I teach classes for Older Adults and I've been sending them this link the past year to help them understand the process.
Hi Sally, You are welcome! I'm so glad this video has been useful to your participants. 🙂 If you have folks who are joining with their phone, they might like this video too - th-cam.com/video/VIRBixXSjOc/w-d-xo.html
Hello 🫂 how are things going with you guys today 🤠
Thank you so much Marcia! Awesome job making this first timer less stressed.
You got this!
This was the clearest step by step presentation for beginners.
Thank you!
Wow Marcia you are so Beautiful! I appreciate your gentle kindness and patience. Thank you so much for making this awsosme tutorial. We are moving our business online (like you say its a great way to stay connected during COVID) and have a few clients whom are anxious about these changes. I hope you don't mind that we use video tutorial to introduce them to zoom, and help ease their anxiety and realise they can do this! You rock!
Please do point anyone who could benefit to this video. Thanks!
Thank you for this! I will be hosting a meeting for some Zoom “newbies” and this will be perfect to share with them. You have a lovely, gentle style that’s so appealing for beginners…
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for making this video. I am using this link for my clients who never used zoom
Please do! I also have a video to help folks join a Zoom call using their smart phone - th-cam.com/video/d6QjODgTuQE/w-d-xo.html
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting done. I see this video has been rocking it for you. Isn't it funny how something so simple can explode like that? I've had the same thing happen.
@@IDCWoodcraft 🙂 I think that is a reminder that what is simple for us personally isn't necessarily simple for others. It's been wonderful to be able to help so many people through videos!
You offer such clear instructions, Marcia.
Thanks! :-)
thank you for this. you explain it so well for 1st timers and clear instructions.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this. My son is autistic and is graduating from university this Monday. They’re doing the ceremony virtually and I want to be prepared. I know he understands Zoom, but I wanted to be familiar with it as well so I can join from my computer. I was a bit intimidated, but now I think it’s not so hard!!!
Congratulations to you and your son!
1st video that's made sense for 1st time user. thx 80 yr. old
You're welcome!
What a great, simple, step by step 'how to'! No need to be afraid; we can do this.
Yes, you can! Have fun with it. :-)
Thanks. simple, easy to follow and a pleasant voice to take you through.
You're very welcome!
This is a great presentation! It is so step by step and easy to understand. I have recommended it to family members who have never done this type of connection and everyone is successful because of the clarity of instructions. Thank you for this presentation!
I hope you all have fun Zooming! :-)
Outstanding! Thank you for this. I’ve been finding an app to do my school assignments. This app is amazing.
Glad it was helpful! :-)
Thank for giving ❤
I like your style, and the material is well covered. You could help us blind people out quite a bit just by including the basic shortcut keys, like control shift O to toggle the camera, alt or option A to mute or unmute yourself, and alt Y to raise your hand on a PC in a meeting. Or at least link to a list of basic hot keys in the description, and tell us in the video.
Thank you for this suggestion! I'll start including a link to hot keys - Here is the link for you support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/205683899-Hot-keys-and-keyboard-shortcuts
I am not timid anymore; I really loved your explanation and it has become very easy for me to do. Thank You!!!
Wonderful!
You explained everything exactly and clearly. You have excellent teaching skills. Thank you for your expertise. I learned navigate through the steps.
I hope you have fun with Zoom!
Woonderful I had to join my first Zoom meeting today. Thanks to your video I was able to attend with no problems.
That's great to hear!
Thank you for sharing! I've been nervous about using this for school. This is helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Have fun. :-)
This is most helpful video without too much talking . Thank Creative lives center
Glad it was helpful!
I would like to thank you for your usefull information with details.
You are welcome!
Marsha, you are the best. Your explanation is calm and friendly and "just the facts." I have shared this with sooooo many of my friends who a little tech-shy. Thanks so much!
I'm glad the video helped you. Thank you for sharing it! I love "tech-shy" - perfect term. :-)
Thank you so much!!! Awesome explanation & very clear. I had no idea what to do with this new thing called Zoom and no one in my lab bothered to explain it although they all sounded familiar with it. It was confusing & scary but you are totally reassuring & thorough. I feel so much better about this now!
It doesn't take long at all to get comfortable with it. Have fun Zooming!
☺️ Thank you for your lovely, conversational tone and for not speaking too rapidly!!!! ☺️🌺
