Hello Griffen Addie, As you have figured out, you were wrong about the type of daytime running light bulb for the 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. It is not a Sylvania 7528 but instead a Sylvania 7506 bulb. It would have been nice for you to have posted a correction to TH-cam once you found out that the 7528 Bulb didn't work.
Dont take this attitude papa, they should’ve double checked instead of relying on one video. Keep up the good work, video was perfect, helped me out a lot
This is a great tip. A mechanic changed one of mine during an inspection and charged me labor cause he claimed the bumper had to be taken off to replace it. Ridiculous!
They usually only say bumper has to be taken off if someone breaks the plastic housing and you can’t get bulbs out. That is exactly how my car was when I got it.
I did exactly that. I had to half remove the bumper so I could remove the headlight and get an angle where I could change the bulb. My hand just could not fit in that space. Even my wife tried. We tore both our hands up trying to do this. While it obviously can be done like in the video I think it depends on the hands of the mechanic and how loose the bulb is at the time.
Very helpful when I had first tried to change my own running lights I had thought I wouldn’t even be able to access them because I couldn’t tell that the bulb was also in the headlight opening. I also really liked how he explained the direction of turning the bulbs because mine had eroded and I had to use pliers and if I hadn’t been able to tell the direction it would’ve caused some damage. Also very thankful for how you told us how to approach the angle of getting to the bulb from behind and on the side of the car
Thanks for this! Was finally able to replace the left one thanks to the tip to grab the base of the socket and not the long plastic things…and this time without tearing up my hands! 😊 Yes, use the 7506 bulb which is the correct bulb.
I had the hardest time trying to get it out until i removed the headlamp bulb which is closes to the compartment lid first then i was able to get to the running light. thanks for the video.
Damn. People were talking about this being a minimum of a 30 minute job. I just did this in a span of less than 10 minutes in the autozone parking lot using your technique. As someone else said though I would like to point out. I have a 2014 Jetta S (2.0) and the bulb that fit perfectly was 1156.
Great video! May I suggest a little WD40 on the plastic of the socket when you put it back in so it will come off easier next time. My hands aren't quite flexible enough to get any leverage when trying to turn it and pull it out. Your directions were excellent, though. There's a small marker light right next to this bulb that goes in the same way, with a plastic handle - just in a really small socket. You have to feel your way around until it goes in.
It's been pointed out to me that some cars had the twin filament bulb fitted and only used one of them. My 2011 Jetta has three different build standards for the electrics and I've never been able to find out which is mine.
Same situation in my case, I gave up after couple hours. It will not budge whatsoever....passenger side worked with just one twist. Driver's side is my problem...
Turns out the tabs fit very snugly with a 15/16 socket. That, a wobble, and an extension and had it popped of in 30 seconds after about an hour trying to get it off by hand
Wrong bulb, 1156 base on original, 1157 that you're using won't work, also 1157 has staggered lock pins. The bulb locks in the clockwise direction ... not the other way, as stated ...

I just changed my brake bulb and that one has the two prongs and two bumps which use the 7528. So use the 7528 on the brake bulb and the 7506 on the blinker and daytime running lights.
Good video, but definitely not the right bulb. 7506 is the correct bulb #. You also made a small wording mistake. You said turn it counter clockwise to put it back into the fixture instead of clockwise. I’m pretty sure most people will know or figure that out.👍🏼
