- Properly operating headlights are one of the top priority maintenance items on any vehicle. Not only do they allow you to see in dark or hazardous conditions but they also allow you to be seen. Ensuring both of your headlights operate is critical to your safety. The life span of head light bulbs can vary greatly. It is important that you check occasionally for proper functionality if your vehicle does not give you an in dash warning . Fortunately most headlights bulbs are easy to replace. However on many vehicles especially vehicles with HID lights these bulbs can be very difficult to replace. It is important before you begin to do your research and find out if your bulb replacement is a job you can tackle. In this Vlog I show you the general steps to change a headlight bulb on a non HID vehicle.

thanks so much! this job took me 3 months to complete! first I had to design a tool to remove the cover to access the bulb. I used a piece of cherry hardwood and cut a slot with my 8" chopsaw. I could then use the wood as a lever on the fin on the back of the cover to produce the torque to release it. this sure is a tight space! the bulb was a b.. to get off, but with time, I was successful. the next challenge was alligning the bulb placement in the socket. neither of the last two videos I watched described positioning the tab pointing down as you do. this saved me at least half an hour. thanks. you're great!

You make it look so easy lol, been going at it for over an hour and it doesn’t just twist in.. 😭
Your head light assembly could possibly be damaged. Take a close look and be sure to align the tabs on the circumference of the bulb.
So I tried to replace my driver side for the first time since I got the car and the piece you twist to remove the light is missing. Is there still a way to get the light out? Thanks!
That part is the cover. If it is missing that’s one less step you have to do, however your bulb and headlights won’t be protected properly from the elements.
Hey brother I cant open the dust cover it's soo tight is there an easy way to open it to replace the bulb? I did not change bulbs since 2014
It could be possible that you are turning it in the wrong direction. Or it’s stuck for some other reason.
