Trichologist here! I’m so happy to see that the girls are starting to look at things from a scientific point of view instead of just going by “passed down” generational hair care practices that the older generation taught us. Your hair looks beautiful my dear and you are right on track! Looking forward to watching your journey
My routine is simple and I keep my hair in twists 95% of the time. I wash every 10 days and I use a sulfate/clarifying shampoo every wash for the 1st wash and a moisturizing shampoo for the second. I condition and deep condition every wash, too. I don't detangle until it's time to retwist because I wash and condition with my twists in. That's kept my breakage and shedding down to a minimum. I moisturize on wash day and that's it. I'm in my bonnet/satin lined beanie about 95% of the time because I'm just home puttering around the house most days. There's no reason for it to be out. And that keeps my hands out of it which helps too. I take vitamins and supplements as well. Since I'm getting my vitamin D levels back to normal I see the difference in my hair! It's crazy how one vitamin being low can affect everything else in and on your body! But I only trim when needed instead of on a schedule like I've seen so many people say/suggest. My stylist said there's no need for a trim if you're not worried about having even ends when they're healthy and not split. My routine has made split ends rare for me so I don't trim much. I don't mind my hair not being in a perfect line when straight as long as my ends are healthy and not split. But it's still pretty good as far as it all being even in length, from my last trim. Sweet and simple has really been the focus for my hair growth journey and it's really been working well for me so I'm sticking to it. ❤❤❤
Once I started trimming my hair every 3 months, my hair has grown a lot! Deep conditioning weekly WITH heat, washing my hair weekly, trimming only when it’s needed, & keeping my ends moisturized has helped me tremendously. Also only refreshing once rather than on wash day
- I’ve done a lot of the same things to my hair that you mentioned in this video for years and my hair thrives as well. In November 2022 I cut my mid back length hair into a shoulder length bob. By November 2023 my hair was back to mid length and my stylist was shook to say the least. I am a firm believer in weekly hair washing, a steady routine and using great products for hair growth. Great video, Tiana! 🤎🤎
You got right into it, no BS. thank you. Other girls just show off their long, long hair and never talk about "how" to get long hair. 'moisturizing' and 'hydrating" are two different things. you can 'moisturize' the outside cortex of the hair shaft, and you "hydrate" the inner layers of the hair shaft. Two different methods.
Also I would recommend dry detangling with oil. That’ll help reduce the breakage you receive because like you said, your hair is weaker when wet because those hydrogen bonds are broken
I'm working on reducing my sugar intake too! My biggest weakness is chocolate😕I haven't had a soda in years and I hardly drink juice. I'm a water and tea girlie, but chocolate?? A whole other story lol
Unless your products are mega slip dont detangle during shampoo, detangle before shampoo or during conditioner. Just because it works for her doesnt mean its good to do in generally so get to know your own hair personally then take these tips and asjust them.❤
I used to have really bad acne in HS dude to drinking soda everyday. I became an athlete so my guardians took me off soda and I was ONLY allowed to drink water. When I did that my skin cleared up tremendously and my nails always been long, but they were stronger when I stopped drinking soda. I’m in my late 30’s now and my skin has actually gotten clearer since I’ve gotten older.
I have PCOS as well! One thing I switched out for other juices/sodas is Ollipop! It’s so good, usually has less than 5 grams of sugar per serving and had lots of probiotics in it!!
Tiana, your hair growth journey is inspiring! Thanks for sharing your tips and experiences. I appreciate your honesty about the ups and downs. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to more updates.
This was soo helpful! I'm trying to grow my hair out and it just never seems to grow! I will be taking these tips. Your hair is gorgous! Also, you mentioned you have PCOS, I do too. Would you ever consider making a video about what you do to minimize symptoms? ☺️☺️
I’ve been thinking about my sugar intake too! And I have dandruff as well and realized last year my scalp is dehydrated. Gonna up my water intake and try the Pattern Beauty Scalp Serum. Great video!
Trimming quarterly works for well for my daughter as well. I use to trim once a year if that. Then 9months, still too long. Even tried 6months and it was still a no go. Just too many split damaged ends. Every 3 months has minimized splits and need for a cut. I also dust in a blown out state 8weeks
I have a ton of shedding/ breakage when I try to detangle during wash Fingers, tangle brush nothing seems to help It’s so discouraging because my hair is getting very thin I also have PCOS 🙏🏽
What's your natural hair curl pattern? It looks beautiful and congrats on 9 years! That's dedication. I just completed a full year and a few months after being relaxed my whole life and struggling to maintain my natural hair.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Kambucha is a very good drink, I drink it a lot and tumeric, I drink tumeric tea I use the powder and add a little bit of black pepper in it with some honey 🍯 Voila
Hi✨, thanks for sharing your tips 💐. Personnally, i use to drink apple cider vinegar with water and honey daily. I can appreciate the change on my skin, nails and hair but especially in my system. It's an organic and unpasteurized vinegar. 🚨 I would like to warn that I do this knowingly with the right measures (never in excess) and that is a personal experience 😊.
Very nice video Tiana 🥰💙.. yes your hair has grown and looks beautiful! .. I haven’t had soda in years 😊, but chewy sweet tarts and chocolate be having me in a chokehold 😂smh.. can’t wait to see your length check 🥰… Happy Holidays to you and your family 🥰
Yassss, I told my Sister that I use the Felicia Leatherwood brush and it works, so I’m not buying that unbrush! Every year there’s a new brush they push for the natural hair community, not going to keep buying every single popular tool they claim to work and it may not work for me. Been there done that! It’s important to stick to what works for u 💯.
but i def do think that i can be rough on my ends, i'll try to detangle when im not as tired or not so much on a strict routine; also using a brush instead of a comb may help me. and really moisturizing my ends. ive learned so much abt my hair this year, now im going to apply it more. (and hopefully do my own protective styles) :) thank you🖤
@@92spice18 thank u bestie, i appreciate it. i actually jus bought a new detangler JUST yesterday😭 of all natural ingredients, u can try it out too! @ominira naturals. i tried african pride months ago and i liked it, actually
@@dm2906 to detangle, I add 2 to 3 drops of conditioner in my water bottle. I spray small sections in my hair , finger detangle first. Then with comb until entire head is done. Very minimal shedding. Hair is so soft and now ready to wash.

would you recommend weekly wash days?
@ennvee1989 depends on YOUR scalp.
Fast build up? - Better wash it at least weekly

Thanks for the reminder, let me put my hair up in wrap, cause I’m a SAHM wearing mini twists now to grow my hair and there’s no reason for it be out.

Do you have a specific style you wear? Or do you just wear your hair out
@@MilkyWay-vr7ku I wear a wash & go the majority of the time besides when I straighten it
What do you use to keep your hair ends moisturized??
That is truly an impressive length Retention.

Have you tried switching to pure cocoa powder? You could make your own hot chocolate and control the added sugar
Same 😭😭😭
Chocolate is good for you, I wouldn't give that up. Just not too much ❤
Don’t even get me started on chocolate 😩 it’s too good to give up lol
Try dark chocolate. 80% or higher

- limit styling/over manipulation
My main thing that keep my hair growing long is protective styles and making sure my hair is never dry. When my hair is dry is break so bad.

Do you use a gel and a leave in? Or just the gel?
My hair dresser always says what you put in your body reflects in your hair.. she would always tell me to eat fruits and vegetables
Hey Tiana
Thanks for the video.

Can someone tell me how to get to the list of produts she sometimes uses? I cannot locate the "cards". I am a novice at this stuff
