Do you apply it without washing your hair because I heard of you leave it in without washing it out your hair will break.... that’s why I’m scared of using mine
I love your South African accent! I visited a few years back and the country is so beautiful! Length retention is my problem. My hair grows but breaks off. I’m trying to really take care of it now.
Rice water might help. I had the same issue. I left it in overnight and the next day its like my hair strands got super power. They weren't breaking nor anything like that. I said might because it works for me doesn't mean it's gonna work for you. But won't know unless you try
guaranteed growth, love that for you ❤️💃🏾🤞🏾 just be careful when you're taking out your braids and be gentle, I always get impatient with any small tangles and end up breaking my hair 😔
coffeenomilk should I apply water to my hair first? Before taking it out? I heard that makes it easier to de tangle the hair, and how your not supposed to comb out dry hair or something
Length retention is definitely number 1 for sure. I feel like most of us naturals focus too much on everything else but don't take specific measures to retain our length. Also that Top Class castor oil is IT sis yasss!!!!! Sidenote: You're gorgeous! ❤
This can’t be true tbh. She has AT LEAST three years worth of growth on her head. Her hair would have had to grow 9 inches a year for her to have all this length in two years. And I know genetics and some people are exceptions to the rule but that just sounds impossible. Edit: I went to her Instagram and I was right. The pictures she posted two years ago (september 2018) have her hair looking way longer than what the thumbnail suggests
Length and Volume are definitely my number 1 goals with my hair (also we have the same texture so its giving me alot of hope hopefully my hair can look like yours :) ) love you videos x
What she said about knowing your hair is so important don’t let that go over y’all heads. I personally need to use heat in my hair at least once every couple of months (blow dry) otherwise my hair starts to get really tangled at the roots and my hair would really struggle to retain moisture causing a lot of breakage . But I have many friends that are against heat and their hair is able to flourish just fine. Know what works best for you ✨

You are so right. Ladies, listen, give your hair what it asks for. First, remember your genetics play a huge role. Secondly, what goes in your body nourishes every part of you. So good nutricious food and drink. Do not just copy and paste other people's hair routines. Sometimes, you could have the same hair type but different porosities etc and somebody else's products may not work for you. I learnt the hard way. In my case, i wash in sections like she advised; deep condition regularly with my ORS or African pride hair mayonnaise; i also use the creme of nature leave -in conditioner (the only one that has worked for me), then i seal my hair strands with grease (kuza indian hemp or dax or doogro). Be tender with your hair. Oh and i know how crazy this last one will sound, but someone told me to talk to my hair kindly every day so i do not get mad at it or frustrated. Let me tell you, talking to my hair helped me deal with wash day frustrations. 🤣🤣
You don't need to. If retaining length is an issue, there are various ways to work about that. If it's shrinkage, there are ways you can show your crown. Although, shrinkage shows health.
Thank you so much for the tips. I have always loved using the Black Jamaican castor oil. I have also learned that what works for others won’t necessarily work me that is why I am going through my journey to see what really works and what doesn’t. Oh and you have an amazing skin. ❤️
I am the opposite cornrows don’t work for me I get more breakage but box braids help me retain length! That’s why it’s so important to know your hair wow ❤️ but you look beautiful 🥺
This is so true I have been using Jamaican black castor oil for so long and have never regretted....my hair is longer than yours but when it comes to volume yours is much way better
I also went bald in June and my hair is about past my eye right now but the first couple of months I was convinced my hair was never growing back haha (I have straight/wavy hair btw I just like watching these videos lol)
Everything you said is 100% correct and I follow 70% of your tips for my 4C hair. Not forgetting water. Ladies tend to leave hairstyles in for a whole month without atleast spraying their hair with water which is unhealthy. Your hair needs water to grow. Even if you spray it with water twice a week in your protective styling, feed your hair some water. Also, I have been using CHEBE POWDER and RICE WATER as a hair treatment for the past five months and it has been working miracles for me.
Ok so I’ve chopped my hair off 2x in my hair journey in the past 6 years and I recently chopped it off to neck length 3 months ago due to bleaching my hair and now I’m at collar bone. I’ve been protective styling and moisturizing and that alone retained 90% of my length. Don’t over trim, don’t under trim. My hair always grows back to mid back quickly this way. Good luck ladies! Oh and don’t forget to take vitamins, not just biotin! If your body doesn’t have what it needs your hair won’t grow ☝🏾
I actually had to stop using BJCO bcuz it literally made my hair so thick that i damn near wanted to cut or texlax it 🥴🤣... but I love my natural hair to much to go back to the creamy crack 🙃.

Listen that Jamaican black castor oil works. I'm back after 4 months, and my hair has grown. I haven't done any hair style in those months. I just discovered the ACV and water mixture on washday. And I've loved it, it cleans my scalp thoroughly!
I manipulate dry hair and it works for me. It's usually not too dry (has been moisturised previously). I think it works for ladies like me with thinner strands cause adding water just makes our strands weaker and easier to break. Adding moisture makes it shrink, knot and break more than a person with thicker hair strands. So dry or almost dry hair is the best for me to work with from experience.
There’s actually no “trick” or “game changer” for growing healthy natural hair. Everything you mentioned is the way. & they’re basic, regular things. Bo rice water & all those things are unnecessary. You just gotta know your hair & choose the right products for it.
okay heard you but i feel like because of the "you just have to know your hair" part, you can't discredit people who decide to use rice water, guava leaves, chebe powder or literally whatever it is they're using because if thats working for their hair then why not ? Some peoples hair has protein deficiency and that's why rice water works well for them while others are already protein sufficient and end up losing hair because of rice water. There's no right, wrong way for anyone to deal with their hair and TH-cam is genuinely just a guide.
Cebile Dlodlo she is?? Maybe I didn’t give her enough time to do her thing lol. I tried all those things; it was too much effort lol. I just decided to keep it simple. Water. Moisturise. No heat. Low manipulation. & my hair has never been healthier
I AM SHANELLE oh, aloe IS that girl. I tried all those other tricks, it was too much effort. Aloe is add in my daily spray for extra moisture & I pre-poo with it for detangling. I just cut & gooi. All that other stuff is just too much work.
the only problem with me is that the sides and edges of my hair is GONE and i think its bc mainly because of the amount of protective hairstyles I would always put which is box braids
I can relate w my edges. I got someone to do my hair and she pulled the life out of my edges lmao. If someone does your hair I think tell them to not pulk like you don't want to be able to feel any slight pain on your head

Adding moisture makes it shrink, knot and break more than a person with thicker hair strands. So dry or almost dry hair is the best for me to work with from experience.
yikes 😂 okay ⚰️⚰️⚰️
New subscriber🥰 Your skin is beautiful sis😍 We are on the same hair length. Protective styles were it for me.
thank youuu and welcome to the club ❤️ ❤️
Yes girl Jamaican Black Castor Oil.... Btw I'm Jamaican n I'm going back natural n what u speak is all facts ‼️
There’s actually no “trick” or “game changer” for growing healthy natural hair. Everything you mentioned is the way. & they’re basic, regular things. Bo rice water & all those things are unnecessary.
You just gotta know your hair & choose the right products for it.
okay heard you but i feel like because of the "you just have to know your hair" part, you can't discredit people who decide to use rice water, guava leaves, chebe powder or literally whatever it is they're using because if thats working for their hair then why not
? Some peoples hair has protein deficiency and that's why rice water works well for them while others are already protein sufficient and end up losing hair because of rice water. There's no right, wrong way for anyone to deal with their hair and TH-cam is genuinely just a guide.
I’d have to say henna and aloe Vera have been game changers for me.
Rice water is the girl I tell you
Cebile Dlodlo she is?? Maybe I didn’t give her enough time to do her thing lol. I tried all those things; it was too much effort lol. I just decided to keep it simple. Water. Moisturise. No heat. Low manipulation. & my hair has never been healthier
I AM SHANELLE oh, aloe IS that girl. I tried all those other tricks, it was too much effort. Aloe is add in my daily spray for extra moisture & I pre-poo with it for detangling. I just cut & gooi. All that other stuff is just too much work.
You are so well articulated and soooo beautiful!!! Thank you for the tips!!
Do a makeup tutorial...u look stunning
eh 😂 idk about that tutorial but thank you love ❤️
I found the Jamaican black castor oil you spoke about on takealot, the one you said you couldn't get a hold of🦋
When you spoke about the afro being see- through on relaxes hair I died coz my hair literally was like that before I went natural 🤣🤣🤣🤣
sis we've all been there, this is a safe space 🤣❤️ lmfaooo
Beautiful, realistic and informative ❤️ I’m in love
Did you say this is two years worth of growth ?? I'm shook. Its beautiful though. ❤👑
thank youuu yess ❤️❤️
@@coffeenomilk sure❤
Yoh😵💫😵💫😵💫I'm here because I feel like I know nothing about natural hair, so thank you ❤️
My goals is to have hair.
Your hair's so healthy😻😻
thank youuu 🥰
the only problem with me is that the sides and edges of my hair is GONE and i think its bc mainly because of the amount of protective hairstyles I would always put which is box braids
I can relate w my edges. I got someone to do my hair and she pulled the life out of my edges lmao. If someone does your hair I think tell them to not pulk like you don't want to be able to feel any slight pain on your head
