Thanks for posting this. It gave me the answer when my wife's clutch pedal was going almost to the floor before doing anything. I fixed it with a 8mm compression fitting from Screwfix. Cost £3 and a bottle of brake fluid.
Had it on ours too. I just bought a 2 mtr length of pipe (same spec as the original)and ran it straight from the master to the slave. Been on there 5 years now.
excellent and super informative video .. leaking from a posh mild steel Quick release fitting .. most of these have a non return value in i guess to keep the fluid in... but hey if its seized then whats the point.. an 8mm push in male to male fitting .. works wonders !! as a permanet fix i think you can get cheap say 1/4 ball o fix non returns with a 8m compression and you could put one of these both ends of the cut pipe.. so many people would charge new clutch etc etc or even new slave cylinder kit .. excellent
We had the same issue with a customer's 500 yesterday. That union was was tight and crusty we changed the whole lot (master and slave units). Never had one come apart due to them corroding together, hence why we changed both parts. That a sleeve that works like a Chinese Finger Puzzle and you push it into the outer part and it should release the two halves. This setup would be the same on the (same era as Destinies 500) Ford Ka which is basically a re bodied 500.
Hiya mate great video this might solve my parents fiat problem, but question how do you bleed the air out of these? They have the same type of layout how would you bleed the air?
I had to do this job myself as the connection corroded and cracked. I used the brass compression fitting. It is a very common problem as is the squeaky clutch. There is a guy on you tube who fixes fiat 500 up if you need more info. Not sure if I can advertise his channel here but he has loads of videos on “how to” for the fiat.
The other half had this happen all of a sudden yesterday in her little 500c - clutch just went dead on her trying to change gear. Managed to get it home by pumping the clutch to get pressure back in it, and today took it to our local (now independent) Fiat dealer we use for it. As expected exactly this issue and is looked up the fix you’ve done and suggested it to them as a fix after they showed me the issue on the lift but they’ve had plenty of cars over the years in which have had this fix and say most don’t last long - I do have a very trusted mechanic friend who has worked on my car that I have no doubt would have been able to do a very good and lasting fix on it but as it’s her car I want it to be reliable and not worrying it’ll suddenly go and as they had the master & slave assembly in stock, it’s now fixed. Was not cheap as the parts alone were ridiculous but they hardly charged me anything for labour - peace of mind. Plus strangely, the Stop/Start is now working again - I’d replaced the battery 18 months ago with heavier duty one, charged it fully with AGM charger beforehand and had the battery disconnected for hours and it had never worked again. So wondering if clutch switch/sensor had failed previously but is now replaced with that whole assembly and has fixed it.
Really helpful video. I changed my Panda clutch slave cylinder and I had to use the original pipe to connect into the slave cylinder, as the connector you replaced doesn't come apart and thinking this is a one time connection, which isn't a very good design if you only need to change a slave or master cylinder, so this connector you have use is very helpful if the connector is corroded or leaking. The only thing I would do different, would be take the pipe of the car from the master cylinder and use a plumbers cutter to give the pipe a nice clean cut, other than that very good Job. Where did you buy the plastic joint from? Thank you.
The linkage needs a bit of attention as well…a spurt of silicone spray would help but grease would be better! I’m not sure what the purpose is of that part you removed but it sounds a bit of poor design. What impressed me though, is that you found time to help Destiny to get home…not many bosses would do that. I get the impression that working at Powerful UK is a delight…everybody looks forward to another day of learning and fun…that is down to you Simon…a special talent that few have. I suspect that Destiny is already redesigning that connector/valve thing and it will be on your website soon! 😃😃😃😃Stay well everybody! Richard😃😃😃😃
Hi Richard - sorry I have not been replying to messages - just finishing the property renovations on the office building - so i can rent the offices and use the underground carpark - all going to plan with one office rented already ! Its clearly in my interest to have Destiny able to get to work ! We do try and help each other here at Powerful UK - we have a good team !
@@L663 Simon..you are a busy man so don’t worry about replying..I’m amazed at how much you do in a day!! Good luck with the rental plans..I hope the tenants are good! Team PowerfulUK is something to behold! 😃😃😃😃😃😃
That factory connector looks ridiculously oversized, to the point that I assumed there must be some special magic going on inside - valving or filters or something - but there isn't? It's literally just joining two low-pressure fluid lines straight through?
I wouldn’t use a brass compression fitting on plastic pipe either, unless you have inserts to strengthen the plastic pipe , the olives in the fitting will just crush plastic pipe 👍
Thanks for your quick response. Im trying to replace my slave cylinder but the pipe won't separate from my old slave cylinder so I tried that so called quick release bit you replaced but that is stuck/seized. Could you kindly tell me if this is what I need?...

Mans got some brownie points ! glad i could help !
Which one did you use? My Mrs has the same issue, I used a plastic one but it broke after a week?
My after day :/

Its still working !

Yes seems a crazy design - when i tried to buy both parts they were not available - all sold out !
Hiya mate great video this might solve my parents fiat problem, but question how do you bleed the air out of these? They have the same type of layout how would you bleed the air?
There's a bleed Allen screw on the slave cylinder, just pump the clutch pedal to expel any air then harden the bleed screw again.

We need to change the display in the speedo next !
@@L663 look up love 500 on you tube. The display is a common fault to. But still nice car though.

Destiny's Fiat is still running fine as a daily drive - that 8 months now - of course they are going to tell you to replace it all....

Hi - fair point about taking off the car etc - we were in a bit of a rush ! I think we got the connector from ebay.
Another lovely job Simon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Morning Jimmy !
I used an 8mm micro bore copper compression plumbing fitting. £2.68 from B&Q. That bloody squeaky cylinder really needs replacing.
did you have to put an insert in the plastic pipe mate?
@@BaltimoreSP no it won’t go on with the plastic insert. I actually cut it a bit shorter past the insert.
Bare in mind with these, they are for copper piping and will need to be re tightend in time which will cause the plastic to squash.
You can't tighten a pnumatuc push on any more do you mean a compression coupler

The fulcrum and fork are missing grease too ..
Yes next job !

Nice one, thank you
Hope it helped
plus is all still ok .. been a month clutch still working i guess?
Yes Destiny is driving everyday with no issues
Where are you, can I bring my car to you for exactly the same problem?
Sorry we do not fix cars but it is easy to do... ask a friend or a garage. We are in Swindon..
Plumbers plastic pipe cutters would make that job a doddle.
Yes as i was doing that i was thinking there must be a better way !

Hi Mr Virdi - I saw the terrible floods in India on the TV - hope your family is safe !

How has it held up?
Still good 5 months on .. used everyday !
