I'm kinda curious what it would look like if you used all the stuff the vacuum sucks up to make a bowl lol. All the resin, crayon, wood shavings, and such could make for something weird and you've already got the stuff around lol.
Hey since you mentioned hot glue at the end, it reminded me that i have seen people make their own jewelry casting wax by literally mixing in hotglue sticks with crayons. Maybe you could try that and get a sturdier wax to turn. If youre interested that is
Have you considered taking raw cotton wool and dyeing before adding it to the resin? I bet if you got a bunch of chunks of cotton, dyed them differen colors, let's them dry, and then crush and pull apart the different colors together you would get an amazing effect if put in clear resin afterwards.
Cotton + Resin is basically micarta. Something similar to chopped carbon fiber. With a similar process to what is used for making chopped CF, I bet you could get really good a really strong result with a mold that allows you to use clamping pressure instead of the pressure pot and is also designed to allow excess resin to flow out when it is clamped.
I like how this guy doesn’t pretend to be over the top or a comedian like most do. He’s just real and himself which is what makes this a great channel to watch. Bobby Duke is the energetic type, you’re the calm type.
You make a beautiful crayon turning Peter. Knowing how soft and brittle crayon is, turning and sanding it you must have a delicate touch and excellent skills. Even your fill looked easy, but I'd be screaming just trying to turn without the tailstock for support as you did. Fantastic job!
I feel like you could get a really cool look with the cotton balls if you stuck to 2 or 3 colors and stretched the resin soaked cotton out and loosely twisted the different colors together instead of just putting them in a mold with the colors separated like you did. Might get nice color swirls without having to put resin in at specific temperatures.
@@peterbrownwastaken if you do the same blues but added micarata and swirls of the right color (say, green and purple), I bet you could get a really interesting Northern Lights analogue.
Only thing I worry about is the ornament next to lights, depending on how warm they get. Super cool. Kinda want to see melted black and whites with chunks of solid color thrown in.
I love how the cotton balls dyed and in resin looks almost like stone. And the blues and purples in the ornament look amazing together. Wonderful projects!
