How to Fly with your Bike on a Budget | Hot Tips

- Flying with your bike can be bloody stressful. Spending two weeks away from Sydney with my Mum in the build-up to this season's A-race meant that I needed to bring the bike so I could get some consistent riding!
Thankfully, it's something I've done many times before and it hasn't yet ended in disaster for me! I thought documenting my experience might prove useful to some of my subscribers who are keen to travel with their bikes.
Hot tip not mentioned; there are varying bike-bags for MTB, Road, TT, Disc-break and rim-break bikes, and you should absolutely check before buying second hand that the bag fits your specific bike!

Every bag/box is slightly different, but in all I think the main difference I'd suggest is to drop the derailleur hanger off the frame. Leave the chain and cables attached, just drop it off the frame as that's probably the most likely point to get damage.
Some boxes have you secure the wheels by threading the skewers through the outside. If that's the case I'd get some cheap spare skewers for that as again, easy point to get knocked/bent.
