In a three-part series over a week, I want to arm you with all of the knowledge you need to go and buy your first road bike, either on Facebook marketplace for less than $1000 OR brand new for less than $2500!
I've bought and sold enough bikes in a 3 or 4-year period to have made some errors along the way, where I would have appreciated someone to call on who could have shared their knowledge when I was starting out! Despite that, I've had some incredible experiences on the bike and have maintained my love for the sport and I want to now share that passion with newbies who want to give it a crack.

My first roadie was the Canyon Endurace CF 7.0. Great first bike, 105 mech and rim brake. Being that it's now 2024, it's hard to recommend a rim brake bike. Anyone who's now looking to get into the sport you're looking at $5kaud minimum for anything with electronic gears like a TCR with 105Di2. Specialized has the Aethos Comp with 105Di2 for under $5k right now which is quite the bargin considering.

I think it’s cool that Canyon are still selling a rim but unsure on any plans to discontinue… yeah I like those recommendations for 5k and similarly my BMC SL4 Team Machine is in a similar bracket to those bikes with Rival Etap!
