    Yes we love Abeka! Getting ready to finish K5. I agree with the seatwork advice, sometimes we skip things. But what ive also decided to do during the summer, is take the time to do those writing assignments that we skipped during the year. You can make it fit your family. I also relate to what you said about having that time with your oldest. I had so much time with my 5 year old. With my 2 year old i find it is harder to give the same time. But i have found that my 2 year old has caught alot of what my 5 year old was taught during the year. She even tried to say all of the Bible verses.

    Very helpful information. I used Abeks over 15 yrs ago for my two smaller ones. My dtr finally allowed me enroll my 3rd grade grandson. I work from home. Online with his old school missed the mark. Thankfully I am in a position to afford this and at home to supervise. Our package is here and I am prepping. Trying to make it a somewhat realistic opportunity for him. I shared your video with his mom and aunt so they can understand what to expect. Very helpful video. Thank you.

    Hi, I love all of your videos as we are looking into starting Abeka with our five year old. She went to a Christian private school but the price has gone up because our town in Idaho has grown. I don’t want to send her to public school and am looking into a homeschool-Christian based program. The private school was a year ahead. So I think she would do great with this program. She had a tutor at home as well and she told us she was way ahead of her Kindergarten students and she was in PK-4. I have a question, if I do the accredited portion and do the videos, when do you return all the videos? Also, the reports are due when? I’m asking because we have a farmhouse in Nicaragua and we love to go there. The kids love playing with the animals and learning the farm life and learning a new culture and learning Spanish. And I have lupus and I need help with the kids if I go into a lupus flare. And there I get a lot of help that I cannot afford here. And my parents like going to their farmhouse and relaxing there as well. And they live with me in Idaho and help me when I’m really sick. So I like to stay with them and vice-versa. I can definitely do the videos in Nicaragua and work. But I don’t know if I stay there 3-4 months how can I turn in the paper work? Would emailing them be an option if they are required after every semester? Or how does it need to be?

    I’m a long time homeschooler but I’ve never used Abeka. Researching because my youngest is gifted and seeking something challenging for her. First question- you mentioned that they do not need to complete all the busywork. Does this hold true for accredited? Also my other currently homeschooled kids have fairly significant learning disabilities. My 13-year-old is on a first grade level in spelling, maybe 2nd grade in reading and about 4th in everything Elsa. Would Abeka work at all for her? And would you recommend video or parent led for her? Also- I viewed some of the sample videos thinking I might try out 2nd grade LA this year for my 7-year- old and I noticed the teacher doing a lot of board work in cursive. I don’t think my little one knows how to read cursive. Will this hinder her if I try to use the videos? Sorry for all the questions but I love your videos so I figured I would pick your brain 😊😍❤️

I had a few questions and reservations about homeschooling my child. I am worried that i won’t be able to teach her correctly and she will fall behind with her studies. Would you say that the abeka videos are adequate in teaching kindergarteners curriculum or did you teach your child along with the videos as well? Thank you!

    • @KeikiPlayTime
      @KeikiPlayTime  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can very much relate... I was not confident teaching my children beyond the basics... but Abeka is a God-sent for people like us. Video teachers do an excellent job of explaining everything in a fun way and are able to capture their attentions well. English is not my first language, although i speak it well and prefer it to my first language now, I was not ready to TEACH it to my child. If fact I have been enjoying learning things right along with her. If you are unsure...I always recommend people start their first year unaccredited to get a feel for it... but I am confident you and your child will fall in love with Abeka :-)

I live in California and they are doing distance learning this fall so that is why I have been looking into homeschooling and I love that it had a Christian aspect to it. jannu shirley I don’t know how streaming works with Abeka, we never chose that option. I know you can skip with DVDs easily... they do make you sign at the bottom of progress reports that your kid watched all the videos, but I mean there are some things that have nothing to do with Academics that I think could be skipped like class singing or certain art projects...ultimately you are the principal of your homeschool, so it’s your decision 😉

    Marina, you are incredibly helpful. We are looking at moving our oldest child out of a private school that uses Abeka into homeschool and looking at this program. My main concern is they aren’t focusing on cursive yet in the private school. If I were to do the Grade 2 kit, do you think I should also look into some grade 1 products as well? They use Reading, Spelling and Comprehension aspects of ABeka and looks like some of their math is very similar to what Abeka homeschool is like. Your videos have been so helpful.

    Does the tuition package included a teacher planner? ZI am new at this and I’m worried that I may get overwhelmed if I don’t have some kind of direction or guidance to keep track of progress and what to do each day.

    if the child needs to repeat a grade, then do you have to buy the whole grade package/books all over again? especially if they have completed pages in the workbook etc? Also, does it matter when you start and finish the school year?

    • @KeikiPlayTime
      @KeikiPlayTime  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheArtfulButterfly I have not done it myself so I can’t give you all the details. You can call Abeka and ask them how you can go about repeating a grade. It only matters when you start and finish if you are accredited. But there are 3 options: 6,9 & 12 months program.

      Answering in case someone sees this question & is also wondering:
      In the video she's referring to not doing all the "seatwork", which is extra work designated for the students to complete each day (typically in a classroom setting, so the teacher can work with other students), hence the term "seatwork".
      The papers she is sending in are all required tests, which are all listed on the progress reports. There are 6 grading periods, and each one has its own progress report with what specifically needs to be sent in. For example Phonics Test 12 and then a space to write the grade. All the tests and when to take them are outlined in the video manual. It's all very clear once you have the curriculum in front of you. :-) If you don't send in all the required tests then Abeka will not issue a grade or report card.
      So, she's not talking about skipping any of the tests or required items, she's just taking about skipping seatwork.
      Also, if you're unaccredited, you don't have to send in any tests or anything and you can choose what Classes and worksheets you want your child to complete.
      Hope this helps clear up any confusion! ❤😊

    Before you ask any parent to have his/her child homeschooled by your program’s guidelines, you must brush up on your grammar.
    I am an educator who is very “fiendishly” particular about grammar.
    Your TV ad has a child saying, “…tackle any challenge that ARE on THEIR way..”
    What is wrong with this sentence? The verb and pronoun do not agree with the subject. The subject is “challenge”. It is SINGULAR, therefore, so must be the verb and the pronoun.
    Shame on you.
