As an American parent, I had a similar situation. My kids told the doctors they were homeschooled. Doctor had a long pause and proceeds to test my kids with their numbers, reading skills, multiplication facts and science 😂. I told her I have to leave so I need the physical to be done. I went to the front office and switched my doctor. It’s very ignorant, really. Educated people being uneducated. 😂
@@lifewithginab Despite what anyone tell you, stay firm in your faith to homeschool. You know the benefits of it and you are raising strong, critical thinkers, problem solvers, with strong family values and morals. Keep it up mama bear.
One of my kids has ADHD. Our doctor (on the day she told us he has ADHD) said, “At least you are homeschooling him. You’ll be able to adjust his schooling to fit his needs.” And she smiled. It meant so much.
They are taught to pass a standardized test in my area. When I was a kid we had to take the IGAP test. We were coached to use our opening and conclusion statement to be identical (minus inserting in conclusion). It was not teaching how to write and think. It was all about passing a test to buff the teacher’s salary. Terrible writing and English.
Here in Ontario, they are very "behind" because of covid and honestly the unnecessary things they focus on in school instead of actual school subjects. Here, they are more focused on kids exploring what gender they are and calling white people racist than academics. My friend, who's a teacher, was telling me that kids are struggling to read in the 9th grade and also to write simple words such as "your" they spell it "ur" ... they are also removing spelling from the curriculum... because it's offensive 🙄😅
The state of Illinois literally just posted last year's scores and 60 schools ZERO STUDENTS were not proficient in math or science at their grade level, and 23 schools in which zero students were proficient in both math and science at their grade level. Overall scores dropped 33%. As a nation we are seeing the lowest literacy rates in several decades. It's really ridiculous we have people stuck in this mindset that home schooling children makes you "behind" or "awkward". Society wants to cling to the Rockefeller structuring I guess...but it's getting more and more toxic.
I burst out laughing when you emphasized "convenient" several times 🤣 omy... Sir...."Convenient" was my life when I actually had 7+ hours to myself while someone else taught my child🤣 But like the meme says; "I've seen the village, and I don't want it raising my children." No no no thanks convenience! 😊😂
I am literally wearing a shirt that says that right now. !!😂😂😂 the shirt reads..” I homeschool because I have seen the village and I dont want it raising my children.” Mind you, I am finished homeschooling, but I have 5 grandkids, and another on the way, and I help out at the Co op they go to, I’m praying for the last one’s parents to decide to homeschool, if I have to I will do it...whatever it takes..
I homeschooled back in the 80s when it was unheard of…best decision ever. My adult children are very successful and love the Lord. I am now a public school teacher…keep homeschooling!
The “socialization” happening within the public school system is truly sickening. It is all about social hierarchy and status. The (perceived) weak ones are brutally tormented. Homeschooled kids by and large have manners and are respectful to authority. That is REAL “socialization” IMO.
Yeah, makes me absolutely hate that two of my kids want to and like to go to public school. Although their school is really good and does not push any agenda. I just keep hoping and praying our superintendent never plans to leave until after my kids graduate. She is a really great person, and goes to our church. He prays on his knees a LOT, so I pray for him a lot. I sure hope other people do too.
For my first year of public high school I had NO friends. We had just moved the summer before (not very far, just one town over) I started my sophomore year and it crippled me. I didn't get a group of friends until almost the end of that year. So for about 8 months I was attending public school and had absolutely no one. I was shy, quiet, and had a hard time sticking up for myself. The only people who would talk to me and get me to try to hang with them were the kids smoking dope. Eventually I found some geeky kids to hang with for the remainder of my high school experience but I couldn't imagine how some of these kids go their WHOLE high school like that. Being alone and no one giving them the time of day because they're worried about being friends with someone who is "weird." If that's the kind of "socialization" that they're talking about then no thanks. I don't want my kids to have to go through that. I want my kids to be confident in who they are and to have fun exploring what their interested in without having to worry about if it's "in" to have interests in those things.
Yes I don't necessarily like public school because its hard to learn because of the people, and my parents cant homeschool me and my sister because they have work and cant teach us during the day.
As a homeschooling mom since 2009. I have since graduated 2 children. I have 4 more to go!!! I only received negative feedback about homeschooling from my family. My mom said “ how are you going to homeschool when you only have a high school diploma“ I said-watch me. Then, cut all of my family members off until I became confident in my new lifestyle and I went to work. Fast forward to today. My sister has since asked me to homeschool my nephew and my cousin who has 3 children recently asked me as well to homeschool her children. My children have excelled way passed any of my family expectations. Also, my family are full of teachers. My aunt who teaches ELA told me how impressed she is with me and said I know more than teachers who are certified. My grandmother who is a retired teacher, expressed to me today how proud of me she is, and said that she knows my children are getting a better education at home then they would have if they’d been in any other school. I said that to say…only YOU know your vision for your family! Society is threatened by independent thinkers and will do anything to discourage that. To the homeschooling moms-KEEP GOING!
Way to go Mom!! So glad I read this comment, what you were able to accomplish and do is impressive, this is an amazing encouragement! Thank you for sharing ♡
Yeah, because having your kids go to school FOR 12 YEARS is so important. Yet, it means absolutely nothing because you have to go to collage to learn and actually be educated enough to teach the kids what you were taught for your entire childhood!! Did you know that only 10 percent of what is actually taught in college requires actual teachers to teach you how to do that line of work. Like becoming a nurse, dentist, vet doctor or engineer (all fields of engineering). But ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ELSE IS AVAILABLE FREE ONLINE, IN BOOKS AND FREE TO LEARN ON SITES LIKE TH-cam!! ...............................
How is sending your kid to a place where they stay sick, get bullied, and don’t get the personal attention they need better than homeschooling? I had something similar happen but I am conformational and told the doctor how my oldest declined and since being at home back at home she has gotten back to where she was and some. It’s more about making robots and worker bees that can sit for hours upon hours. And just because someone has a degree that says they know what they are doing doesn’t mean they do. Tell your friend to get a new doctor because that one is not it. Sending her love and support.
A reason to KEEP homeschooling!! I am a 60-year-old American homeschooling mom of three grown children. Who also dealt and still does deal with ignorant people such as the doctor you spoke of. I don't know what the schools are like in Canada, but I can tell you what schools are like here in America. One of my homeschool children has been teaching 3rd grade for a Charter school for the last 4 years. The children coming into 3rd grade cannot write, they have been taught that it's okay to write words with mixed capital and lowercase letters, such as chilDrEn, JumPinG, TYPinG, i, etc... (by the way, spell check didn't correct those words with mixed letters.) Teachers are not allowed to address this issue with the students, after all, students are not being tested on correct letter usage in words. The children are not able to do double number addition and subtraction problems with carrying and borrowing, but yet expected to learn multiplication right from the start of the year. The foundations of learning are being totally skipped over for the sake of CC and End of Year test scores. Teachers in the schools are literally not allowed to fill in those gaps and if they attempt to do so, they are demoted and forced out of the school through actual Administrative bullying. One of the administrators, a supposed Curriculum Specialist, wants to remove spelling altogether in the 3rd grade class of her school and just do vocabulary because, after all, they are not being tested on spelling so there is no need to teach it. The Curriculum Specialist admitted she didn't teach it to her students. GASP!! May the Lord help us all. The violence and behavior issues in the schools are a whole other matter. I believe that many a child is very unhappy and afraid in their school environments. So many parents are clueless about their children's well-being in the schools of today. Thank you dear Lord for the blessings and insight to homeschool. So darlings, know that you are doing the right thing by homeschooling your children, you are saving them from our corrupt messed-up school system. Stay strong and have faith that your children are receiving so much more than any school could ever give them. Your children are being nurtured and loved and taught right from wrong and more than likely the love of learning. For when it all comes down to it. There is nothing good the system is teaching our children that we can't teach better and that is a FACT, and not an opinion. I for one stand behind you as a homeschooler all the way. Keep up the good fight. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Yes, in Canada, I've heard many of the things you stated including spelling. My friend who is teacher said that 9th graders don't even know how to spell the word "your" they spell it "ur" I am so thankful to be homeschooling my kids ❤️ thanks for the encouragement!
It is the same in Canada. Standard of education has been lowered and they’ve gotten rid of the grading system to not hurt the kids feelings. Kids are moving on to the next grades without having passed previous grades. I run into moms from other countries often who say education here is a joke. I agree. I grew up in a third world country and our standard there was much higher and kids performed incredibly well in school.
@Silvy Botha Makeup yes our education standards in Canada are so low now. I know some teachers and they are expected to pass kids even if they are failing
Thank you so much for posting this. This is one of the many reasons why I decided to homeschool my children. You just can't trust public schools anymore.
You are spot on in your Christian perspective. It was 100% the enemy. The devil is MAD we are going against the grain and that our kids are being protected by homeschooling. You know you're doing the right thing when you upset the devil like that! So glad you were there for your friend to encourage her through this time! When you know you were called by God to homeschool, you have to hold fast to that calling no matter what the enemy throws at you.
This is just wild to hear, if I were her I'd be changing doctors YESTERDAY. My children's pediatrician and specialist were both so happy we are home schooling our kids. They praised their abilities to them. Doctors need to do better.
This is my 20th year of homeschooling. I continue in spite of naysayers because I know what's right for my kids. Keep going! These schools are sewers nowadays.
Early on in our decision one of my daughter's doctors was very negative. Flat out told me how she felt and I asked her if this was in her medical or personal opinion. She didn't answer so I reminded her that I do not co-parent with my kids' doctors and this is a parenting decision. I've had a lot of experiences with doctors feeling as if they can overrule me, that they are in charge and in many things they are but ultimately I'm number 1 when it comes to my kids. I stole that quote from House when the mom told him as the mom she outranks him.
I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm getting ready to homeschool all 3 of my kids at the beginning of the year. My oldest daughter is in 8th grade and she has been cussed out, punched in the back of the head and much more. I know this is what God wants and I know it won't be easy but it will be worth it. My kids are my calling. Thank you. And your poor friend my goodness she is so sweet to not lay that Dr. out on the floor.
Hi Jayda!! So glad you are here! I am so sorry what your daughter has gone through that :( I can't imagine how she is feeling and you as a mom too. Hoping you and your kids all the best in your homeschool journey mama! ❤️ hugs!!
I’ve had 4 medical professionals tell me they’re glad we homeschool our oldest! They see kids like my son getting left behind and having more issues in the classroom all the time. Definitely encouraged me that I made the right choice. ❤️
This is why BOUNDARIES are so important. The conversation needed to be shut down after the doctor started addressing the child. I would have left, skip the appointment.
After 15 years of homeschooling now I can honestly say these types of comments never stop, but they do get easier to digest. In fact, now they just roll of my shoulders 🙂In fact it happened at my kids orthodontist the other day and I almost laughed. I feel so bad for your friend though because I have been there, back when my oldest was young. I know how it makes you feel - questioning everything. But it sounds like she is absolutely doing what's right for her family.
Thank you for sharing Debbie. And yes, it's easier to digest... these situations make us have thicker skin and we learn how to deal with them and let them brush off our shoulders!
I was homeschooled. Graduated at 16. I’m now a educator with 2 degrees. And public school is not really centered around learning, but that money money moneyyyyyy!
I did have an Autism therapist tell me I wouldn't be allowed to homeschool and that she thought it was a very bad idea. So I smiled, nodded and did it anyway. It has been the best thing we ever did for our Autistic child.
We are in our third year of homeschooling. I have always been told by our friends and family about my in-laws disapproval of our decision. This week, I heard it for myself. My father-in-law didn't know I was working on the computer at his house, and he came in, telling my mother-in-law his thoughts. He said..."I saw the morons (his grandsons) riding the 4wheeler this morning. Must have been a short education day today, if any at all". I could not believe it. She quietly let him know I was in the house and he went right back out the door. Little did he know, the boys begged me to go check there trap line before school that day and I said yes. I cried the whole day. My husband reassured me we are doing the right thing, don't doubt what we are doing, he said. My in-laws have never once asked what the boys are learning or to see their books. They would just rather have their own theory than to actually educate themselves about our homeschool. It's hard to tell he has a Master's Degree, and she has a Bachelor's in education, none the less. Thanks for your video!
Christine! No words. First of all thank you for sharing this. It's so hard when families make these comments! It's not easy to hear. I'm so happy that your husband is supportive! God bless you and your family ❤️
Girl I feel ya. I have a gay family member that is about to be a Principal. I can imagine what they think about us homeschooling. Don't cry girl. Rejoice because you know they're only 'persecuting' you bc you're on the right narrow path, that few are venturing onto, steering clear of the ignorant masses of sheep headed in the wrong direction, sister. You'll have that. ;)
I feel ya! I’m not good at upper level math. So my daughter is taking inline classes. My MIL asked me how I’m teaching math since I’m not good at math. She said we are passed 2+2. 😮 she puts me down in front of the kids about it also. I used to cry and feel badly but now I shrug it off. She digs at me all the time about it. But I KNOW GOD put me here in this position. He is the boss lol. Not her. I answer to him not her. The Lord blesses us in many ways. Even if it is tough in laws. I believe that is OUR lesson of how to deal with people and model good behavior in tough moments in front of the kids.
What a nasty person! Speaking ill of his grandsons like that. I'm sorry you had to experience that.💔 It doesn't matter if he has a Masters degree, so what? What he said was down right awful! And all the knowledge in the world means nothing, if you can't operate like a decent human being. That definitely includes not disparaging his own grandsons behind their back and then run away with his tail between his legs. Quite cowardly IMHO. You are doing right by your children, and praise God you have a supportive husband to lean back on! And most importantly God almighty himself to see you through! Good Job Mama!🤗
Absolutely heartbreaking! Your boys are being brought up the right way. And when they are grandfathers, they will love their grandchildren and see them as far more important than a grade from an indoctrination camp, I mean “school” You are doing the RIGHT thing. And your husband is right. But your husband also needs to be talking to his parents and setting boundaries. And maybe you could invite mom in law to check out your curriculum one day over coffee. It’s not your responsibility to educate them. And it’s utterly heartbreaking, because I live out of state from my own family and I’m sure they talk about us and our kids like that. Glad I can’t hear it and we are not around any of it.
My child doctor thought it was good for my child with ASD and ADHD. His doctor was advising and giving me great information to homeschool. She even connected me to helpful agencies. Your friend doctor does not have a clue. Just traditional… And the kids will miss friends, but there’s groups to join and things to do. My child learning is sprouting and he is learning more than just school but hands on and life lessons. More about God’s word! He’s told me he loves home school! His stress level has dropped tremendously and nothing to no melt downs!
My blood would have been boiling if I was your friend 😂 and you’re right, so many sacrifices go in to homeschooling. It’s literally the least convenient option but it certainly is the best and most fruitful option!
Me as well. We don't even know what political views of this doctor, who knows where they're coming from, but it's not Godly. I would have got his medical license and reported him.😂
I’m so sorry to hear your friend had to endure such harsh criticism. As you stated, what she experienced was the work of the enemy. I pray that doctor’s heart is transformed and he gets educated on the beauty of homeschooling. Homeschooling is a wonderful sacrifice. I’m only 1 year into our journey and I am so thankful to God for this opportunity. Thank you Gina for always sharing great encouragement to us!!
NEW subscriber here from Connecticut USA! I homeschooled my children & now helping my daughter homeschool her 5 & 8 year old. It's proven that homeschoolers are more social then that of public schooling because they do not deal with bullying & peer pressure! That Dr. is ignorant and I definitely would not go back to him! This was definitely the enemy & it should show her she is on the RIGHT PATH! 🥰❤
“The enemy is very angry.” Yes!! And this is why I will continue homeschooling and serve my family with joy! ❤️ Thank you SO much for being a wonderful friend to this mama. You are a blessing to her, as well as many homeschooling mamas in this space. ❤️
Rejoice when you suffer. Why? Because Wisdom is revealing a profound truth to you through the suffering. You want to know who strikes fear in the heart of her enemy? A mother who has been taught to cast off the opinions of others and stand for her children. Keep going Mamas!❤
This story makes my blood boil but thank you so much for sharing it! I feel the pain your friend felt. I am so sick of doctors with their arrogance and ignorance! I was a teacher in public schools before I had kids and gave my ALL to my students. I was working in my classroom until midnight most nights and would leave when the janitors had to lock up the building. And even after all that time and effort I put in, it felt like it was never enough bc these precious kids deserved so much more- things I wasn’t “allowed” to provide for them. They deserved to have interesting self led projects, freedom to think critically, freedom from constant testing and bullying, freedom to be outdoors playing and using their imaginations for several hours each day, freedom to learn at their own pace. I told myself if I ever had kids I would homeschool them. Now I’m a blessed mom of 4 homeschooling. 🙏🏻❤️ I only take my kids to the dr when they’re very sick but every time I do the pediatrician will reprimand me for not taking them for their “well checks.” The way I see it though, why would I take them to a sick place to get exposed to all kinds of illness to then get harassed by the doctor for turning down all the poisons they try to force in their bodies? Most (not all) doctors are just cartel in white coats, pushing drugs for big pharma. Hard to find a “good” dr these days.
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for sharing this from a teachers perspective! And thank you for all you have done as a teacher! I admire teachers and my aunts are teacher and I know how much they do and under valued teachers are! I only try to go to the doctors if I absolutely have to too! Thanks for sharing this mama and your kids are blessed to have you as their mother and teacher ❤️
@@lifewithginab Thank you, Gina :) We homeschooling mamas have to stick together and encourage one another! It gets lonely living differently from the world, but I know we wouldn't have it any other way. We are doing God's work! :)
I have been praying for some direction on this. Thank you for sharing this story! I have been experiencing this in many spaces. When I mention that my daughter is homeschooled, people look at me like I have two heads. God answered my prayers with this video.
You hit the nail on the head when you said it makes the devil mad at us. This is pure spiritual warfare. Kudos to your friend! I probably would have given that so called "doctor" a piece of my mind, then walked out the door! 😳
Sorry about what happened to your friend. To say that the doctor was insensitive is an understatement. I'm not Christian nor religious and I've never heard of homeschooling until I immigrated to the US but I chose to homeschool my kids because I also can't accept what they teach kids at school. Some things are just not moral nor suitable for kids!! And it's true that we do have a little problem with socializing but I've only been homeschooling for 3 months, so I'm still looking and searching and doing my best to find co-ops and socialize. Honestly some people should keep their noses out of other people's business! My best to your friend ❤️ and thank you for the video
Thank you for sharing this Diana! And I am glad we can respect each other and relate to each other regardless of our reasons why we chose to homeschool ❤️ all the best and hugs!!
The doctor clearly doesn’t understand how homeschooling works. I was homeschooled all throughout childhood, we had co-ops, classes, and events, with other kids. Honestly, I was more social than public school kids because I had real-world experiences where I was pushed out of my comfort zone to meet people and carry out errands. But most importantly, we learned how to have fun by ourselves. As someone with a lot of siblings anyway, I was never alone. That was completely disrespectful for the doctor to ask someone's kid if they don't like their parent's decision. Even as a child, I wouldn't let anyone talk to me about my mom no matter what I personally thought, like "Do you want to get slapped?" When God ordains the order of the mother over the children (not the world), the world is going to fight that order no matter what. Thank you for sharing this story and spreading encouragement. I was homeschooled and plan to homeschool my future kids one day. Being a mother is not easy, I realize that out of appreciation for my own mother, who was faithful to us and to God.
As homeschool moms and Christian moms, we need to learn to ask appropriate questions in the moment. Mike Winger’s channel has helped me so much in this area. I immediately thought when hearing the story, “Why? What sources tell you that kids MUST be in a classroom?” “Oh, so you also homeschooled your son, and when he held his breath you put him in public school and that fixed it?”
Public school parents ask why I homeschool. I say my son learns best when he's awake. They laugh and talk about their kids 5am wake up to catch the 6am bus to get to school by 7am and come home at 4pm with 5 hours of homework from seven classes - but at least they get time for friends. Then I laugh.
Thank you for bringing light to this! I’ve homeschooled my 4 kids for years now and the hardest part is the way some people treat us for that choice. It’s a lot of work but its worth it to help my kids learn and grow. I just wish people weren’t always trying to quiz the kids when we are out and about... annoying (to both me and the kids). I quiz them enough, they don’t need the neighbor giving them quizzes too.
@@lifewithginab lol I bet those kind of doctors couldn't stand a chance if they were home with children all day! "Home school is a challenge but it ROCKS"
Honestly, this one of the reasons why I'm looking into switching to a naturopathic doctor in my area that sees kids as well as adult patients. I'm sick of all the shenanigans going on since Covid in the medical field, and neither myself nor my kids have been to any doctor (but we still see out dentist regularly) since 2020. I'm seriously considering discontinuing their vaccine schedule and definitely never going to take them for that dodgy mRNA concoction. As professionals who are versed in alternative ways of doing things anyways, I'm hoping he or she will be understanding of our families choice to homeschool, if it ever came up in conversation.
I say this in the humblest fashion. I think that I have become too principled and committed to my belief about Homeschooling that I feel people can just sense it. They can see it in my face and right through me that it will be an absolute waste of time to try to convince or change my commitment to homeschool my four kids. This is what I would say if questioned " Did you carry these kids for 9 months each? What authority do you have over their lives? Don't you have enough worries in your own personal live to care about mine? My children are mine, all mine, my precious gifts from God. God gave them to me to guide and nurture and not to hand them over to a stranger. My children are way better off being homeschooled and thought the fear of God, wisdom, love, respect, and values than being indoctrinated and brainwashed by some devil incarnate.
All the feels watching this. The people who disapprove of homeschooling are always so vocal about it. It amazes me the things they will say and the judgments they make.
It amazes me too, also they are always wrong. They are so ignorant on this topic, and yet they feel the need to judge a family decision. Glad to have such an incredible community.
I agree with everything that you said. That doctor was out of line. I definitely laughed at him saying that homeschooling is "convenient". There are so many reasons to homeschool (even for non-religious people), but none of them are convenience.
There is no single better teacher than a mother ,Trust me on this Mom's are the best teachers for there child,And If mother have 10 kids every kid get that individual attention by a mother ,which teacher can't give at school . The pain a mother feels for her child a teacher can never ,so who ever that doctor is she need to know her degree is waste . And every mom who are Homeschooling hatsoff to you, you are gifting well mannered successful kids to the society.I am planning to home school struggling right now .pray for me .
Aww praying love! And I agree ... the mother is the best teacher. We love our kids so much and would do anything for them ❤️ thank you for sharing your heart! Praying God gives you the guidance you need!
Keeping kids at at home is not necessarily “convenient” but it is cheaper and it is worth it! It’s “convenient” I won’t have to worry about unscrewing up my kids after public school. Preach mama
My son has two more years of preschool, pre-K and private K. He’s at a half day preschool - and I’ve been heavily considering homeschooling my son for first grade and on. I don’t know how my family (my mom and dad, siblings will accept it). and then my husband was talking about the socialized ! which is so unfair. he will be socialization, there are boys and girls clubs, he plays soccer, etc. he will get that socialization regardless. And honestly school is not the “BEST” place to socialize. The kids at school they are forced to sit down and quietly in the classroom. My brothers get “silent lunch” all the time for talking to their friends . Public school is not what people are making it seem like it is.
My son when he was in school was always in trouble for talking too much too! He is very much a social butterfly lol I know it's such a hard decision and my immediate family was also skeptical about me homeschooling as well. Thanks for sharing this with us Michelle ❤️ I hope you all can make the best decision for your family!
This was so encouraging. My husband and I homeschool our 4 boys and its the best décision we ever made. Plus they are focused, mature, advanced, self starters and have very confident personalities at such young âgés. They are also very helpful around the house. Homeschooling parents please stay encouraged, you know what Is best for your family.
That is insanity!! Sorry she went through that awful experience. Thanks for Your beautiful words at the end ❤ you have such a sweet and tender heart, Gina
Our family doctor actually homeschools his own kids and fully supports us. If a doc ever pulled this that would be our last visit to them. Absolutely not. The longer I homeschool, the more stark the difference I see, especially in my sweet teens!
I’ve heard from other moms similar stories. One lady said the doctor was in disbelief that her daughter was on track so she asked her some age appropriate questions and the little girl got it all right. When it comes to my children I don’t explain myself to anybody plain and simple. I could care less about a stranger or even family’s opinion on how I raise my child especially when im trying to bring them up as a christian safe during such horrible times. It makes me believe even more they are eager to indoctrinate our kids. There’s plenty of ways to keep a child social that doctor is ridiculous 🙄. It’s exhausting having to defend your decisions because the world doesn’t understand the sacrifices we make out of love for God and to take care of our children. Also, outside of normal relevant questions such as him being a doctor asking about physical well-being is fine but do not tell my child to tell me anything. My child’s opinion doesn’t dictate my parenting. What is wrong with these people? Btw the way these teachers are now, it doesn’t seem too hard to teach. I homeschool my kids I go at their pace. I’ve already seen a lot of improvement. It’s not easy but it’s worth it. The doctor was definitely under the influence of the enemy. I hope your friend and her husband hugged and prayed over their daughter. We call it projection but I think of it as witchcraft trying to plant a seed of fear doubt and unbelief inside the parent and child to sow discord. We must keep praying.
Thank you for sharing this and yes they pray and are happily homeschooling and using their story as a testimony of how the enemy is angry with families and using others to try and make us doubt our decisions!
Honestly... do they actually think a patient will come back if they are treated that way? But you know, it's sad because from my experience finding a doctor who actually cares about you here in Canada is so hard!
That doctor completely over stepped his boundaries. I’d be looking for a new doctor! I just put our two back in school (9 and 6- 6 yr old has never been in public school) and my oldest 9 wants to be homeschooled again. She hates getting up super early and all the busy work they give them after school. Her entire afternoon is shot due to this…so seriously thinking of taking them back out.
Gina, it is so nice to hear from a Christian mom that cares and fights for Godly education. We are the disciples of our children and must do all we can to teach them what is right and what is wrong from a Biblical perspective 🙏 Also, my kids doctor actually is very happy that I am homeschooling my girls and said that her husband is thinking about homeschooling their kids. She said that with all the things that are being taught to the kids right now, her husband is strictly against it.
There is no way I wouldn’t have told him all about himself as I grabbed my child and left after the first round of insults/judgement. Convenient..kinda like dropping your kids off to a stranger for 7 hours a day
My husband and I homeschool our 3 grandchildren ages 10, 9 & 7. This is our 3rd year. We are truly blessed with health and energy, patience and love for our Saviour to respond to what he has called us to do. Our curriculum is faith based and we have Bible study once a week. You know you’re doing a great job when your 7 year old grandson says, “ Grandma can we pray?” As a retired RN I would’ve thanked the Dr for his time and taken my child immediately out of the room. He had already given her reassurance that this was normal and said his son even did this. My advice is to put on the full armor of God and continue to fulfill what God has called you to do.
Thank you so much !!!! Planning to start homeschooling my 4 yr old next year, and started sharing my plans with my family, and they all disagree. Felt really down if I should pursue, but you encouraged me ❤️❤️❤️ and reminded me it's all for Jesus ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for you and and your friend 😇
Aww Erin! You got this! It's so hard when we hear criticism from our family.... Stay strong friend! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts ❤️
I am an American mom of 3 boys- 4 year old, 2 year old, and 1 year old. I have recently started homeschooling my 4 year old son VERY loosely (like no strict schedule whatsoever) and that alone has been a huge sacrifice not only in all the ways you mention but also emotionally. It is a huge emotional sacrifice we make when we choose to commit our energy and time into answering the never ending questions that children have and to be emotionally present for them at all times. It is something that I truly believe you cannot fully comprehend until you are in it yourself. I think the most valuable piece of advice I got from this video is when you said to simply be "emotionally prepared" for situations like this with the doctor. I am not very confrontational either, and I believe this incident would've blindsided me as well. It is incredibly valuable advice to tell mothers to be emotionally prepared for confrontation on issues that hit close to home such as homeschooling. I'm encouraged now to actually WRITE a list of the reasons I homeschool, and memorize this list. Because I've received negative comments even from my own family about my decision to homeschool and I've found myself honestly speechless when asked WHY would I choose this. So thank you to you and your sweet friend, for sharing this story, because I believe it is going to prepare and strengthen other moms who will unfortunately inevitably face this same circumstance at some point, as homeschooling is becoming increasingly criticized and demonized. Thank you for this video, and for the many others that I am now about to bingewatch 😁
Hi Gabriella! Thank you so much for your comment! I feel so blessed and happy when my video can encourage someone, but messages like this encourage me to keep sharing my experiences, whether good or bad. So, thank you for taking the time to share. And yes, write down your why's. It just feels good when you are prepared for this situation so you aren't blind sided and influenced by someone's negative comments or myths about homeschooling. Thanks for sticking around and watching my videos! God bless you and your kids on your homeschool journey ❤️
As a motherwith kids in public school, who wishes she could homeschool, but works with teachers at their party time job, I can confirm kids are anywhere from 3-5 years behind what I know to be expectation from when I went to school. And it's only getting worse.
I have never associated convenience with parents who decide to home school. I commend parents who make that sacrifice and ensure that they do still have socialisation they need especially when they recognise the need in children and their specific child. It hurts my heart that the doctor spoke that way and may God bless you and other parents that do this for the purpose you described 🙏🏾💕
I’m a homeschooling Mom who would have loved to have been homeschooled. I went to a very large public elementary and high school and was very lonely and it did not help me to be “socialized”. I was lost in the shuffle and my strengths and weaknesses were ignored and not cultivated. The beauty of homeschooling is that you can provide the needs of your children academically and socially and spiritually. You can meet their specific needs. It is so rich and yes it is one of the hardest and most fulfilling things you can do! Also, if homeschooling was truly “convenient” more parents would be doing it. Love this video! This is a much needed conversation. ❤
You are so right from one Christian mom to another... I totally agree. I had an experience with my kids Dr. and it scared me, because they can document anything an ruin it for us based on their opinions. My prayer is that God protects us.
Thank You so much for this video! You are amazingly encouraging! I've been homeschooling for 8 years now and still benefit from hearing these relatable stories. God Bless You. Your friend and your families. We are not alone ❤❤❤
It's sad to see health professionals who are so stereotypical and misinformed. Keep spreading the real world of homeschooling. Thanks Regina for spreading the bad, good and ugly of Homeschooling. 👏👏👏
I just found your channel yesterday, and I’m in love with your content and it’s exactly what I needed at this point in my life! Homeschooling moms/families make the greatest sacrifices for their kids. I pray for your friend and her confidence in teaching her children. Keep making your videos!
It’s truly shocking when individuals no matter how educated or smart they think they are; feel like they have a say or knowledge about a topic they actually have no business to even speak let alone educate others on. Some people are really arrogant and it shows.
My sons teacher told me I need to speak to the pediatrician on getting my son on ADHD medicine, now I'm over the public schools and we are transitioning into homeschooling. Also I hate that she had to go through this, but if it was to happen to me I would of laughed in there face. The pediatrician do not look out for the kids anymore and neither does the school. Ive never wanted to homeschooled but God has lead me here. I can't allow my son to continue to go to school an his needs are not being met because they think of him as a problem child. Praying for all of yall! Keep up the amazing work. Stop letting these haters get you down. Homeschooling is the best way to go.
So much malpractice! I told her to report the doctor 1000% but nothing will be done here. There is so little doctors here in 🇨🇦 where I live that this won't even be a slap in the hand. Sad to see!
Wow! I can’t believe that happened!!! 😞 I recently went to my child’s physical exam and told them we homeschool but I’m glad she just smiled and moved on . I’m devastated for you!🙏🙏🙏🙏😞
Subscribed. You said everything I was thinking about homeschooling. All RIGHT , straightforward and valid points. You earned a fan . We need MORE MOMS LIKE YOU! 🎉❤
I think it helps to be a part of a homeschool community. All of my friends are homeschooling moms, so we share resources and ask each other for advice and prayer 🤪 It has helped me tremendously! I wish I did this with our older children.
Aww, I felt all of this! I've been homeschooling my 5 kids since they were BORN and have gotten all kinds of slack for it. But never this badly from a so-called health professional. 🤨 Thanks for sharing. It is encouraging to hear!
Your videos helps me so much as well. Thank you Gina, you are an inspiration! Feel bad for your friend I usually when someone start talk negative about homeschooling I just leave, no comments. I don't feel we have to prove ourselves. My mother in law was so against us to homeschool but now she can see the results and she is amazed and feels sorry she was so wrong.
I am crying now. I recently had a family member basically call me lazy and afraid because I homeschool. We are struggling financially and I have prayed that we are making the correct choice especially with the way the school system is nowadays.
Aww, Mama! You are not lazy! The work that goes into raising and homeschooling our kids is far from being lazy! If you feel led to homeschool, that's no one's decision but yours to make! Many will try to put you down, but you are making the best decision for your family... stay strong! ❤️
I’ve experienced this from other parents and it does hurt. The enemy wants our children and he’s angry. God bless you all and your families. ❤Keep up the good work brothers and sisters.
I would have lost it. Don’t tell my kids to tell me anything. My kids get more social time homeschooling than when they were in public. Plus my kids reading and graded tests don’t lie. I’d switch drs asap personally. It’s convenient for me to get 6 hours alone but here I am never getting a break 😅 we took our kids out of public school because the administration failed my son. Traumatized my son. So I pulled both of my kids. They had so many gaps. And now are getting closer to where they need to be. And have healed from trauma given to them by public school.
I'm so sorry your kids have trauma! :( and I am so glad that you pulled them out and are homeschooling and they are healing. Someone really close to me has a lot of trauma from being hit by a teacher while in public school. They were only able to open up about it when they were older. I'm so glad we can take care of our kids and offer them a safe place to learn and grow ❤️
My son is currently in public school and everyday I worry for his safety and the bullies he's encountering as we speak. I am thinking of doing either charter homeschool or the online homeschool with Acellus, still kind of confused and seeing what best for me.
Also to add, do you know why parents' educational attainment is irrelevant to the outcomes of homeschooled children? It's the quality of the relationship between the caregivers & children. RELATIONSHIP MATTERS! It's very hard to learn from someone whom you don't have a good relationship with.
Wow! Such a sad and uplifting video at the same time! I needed this today. Homeschooling is not convenient. Some days I barely get thru the day. Some days things are good. I’m 63 and homeschooling my 11 and 9 year olds. I always tell people the hardest job I’ve ever had is being a homeschooling SAHM! Thank you for this video!
Aww Rita I'm glad it can be an encouragement! So true it's the hardest job! We have good and not so good days too just like anyone else has good and bad days! Blessings to you ans your homeschool ❤️
The doctor in the state we lived in before my eldest was of school age, gave us some flack for not having our kids in daycare or preschool. I always reminded them that I taught prekindergarten and have a degree in early childhood education. There was also, no way that we would have been able to afford it. We wouldn't have qualified for any assistance and more than half of my paycheck would have gone to daycare even with the staff discount. It just didn't make sense. We recently moved to a new state and agreed that homeschooling would be the best choice for our family. When we saw the new pediatrician, I was prepared to defend my choice but was shocked when the pediatrician only asked if we were joining a co-op and other activities with other kids her age. She told me other than that, she doesn’t care if my kids aren’t in public school.
Wow, love this phrase that you said Gina... "Being around other kids in a classroom does not mean that they're socialized". So true!!! This really resonated with me and was encouraging thank you
I would ask him where he actually studied about home schooling, because everything he said goes against all the statistics. I would fire that doctor on the spot. That is so manipulative.

Good for you! Honestly you said it right "educated people being uneducated "
@@lifewithginab Despite what anyone tell you, stay firm in your faith to homeschool. You know the benefits of it and you are raising strong, critical thinkers, problem solvers, with strong family values and morals. Keep it up mama bear.
Since when did drs become 'education specialists'?? What qualifications did she have to 'test' your child??
@@andreamaclachlan980 I was asking myself the same thing. I think she felt qualified by simply being a doctor. Quite bold of her, really.
That would be scary as a mom of at least 1 dyslexic and adhd student. Because they don't know all these things when they should.
One of my kids has ADHD. Our doctor (on the day she told us he has ADHD) said, “At least you are homeschooling him. You’ll be able to adjust his schooling to fit his needs.” And she smiled. It meant so much.
Most public schoolers are “behind,” you don’t even have to research it, it has been in the news constantly.
Yep and it's been that way for decades.
🎯🎯🎯 and the teachers are not invested the success of your kids at all.
Hahaha! I know, right?! We have to laugh sometimes at it! And yes we've seen the village... no thanks!
Yes.
Amen!
This comment was everything
I homeschooled back in the 80s when it was unheard of…best decision ever. My adult children are very successful and love the Lord. I am now a public school teacher…keep homeschooling!
The “socialization” happening within the public school system is truly sickening. It is all about social hierarchy and status. The (perceived) weak ones are brutally tormented. Homeschooled kids by and large have manners and are respectful to authority. That is REAL “socialization” IMO.
Exactly
Yeah, makes me absolutely hate that two of my kids want to and like to go to public school. Although their school is really good and does not push any agenda. I just keep hoping and praying our superintendent never plans to leave until after my kids graduate. She is a really great person, and goes to our church. He prays on his knees a LOT, so I pray for him a lot. I sure hope other people do too.
@@jennifer7648 that is wonderful 💗
For my first year of public high school I had NO friends. We had just moved the summer before (not very far, just one town over) I started my sophomore year and it crippled me. I didn't get a group of friends until almost the end of that year. So for about 8 months I was attending public school and had absolutely no one. I was shy, quiet, and had a hard time sticking up for myself. The only people who would talk to me and get me to try to hang with them were the kids smoking dope. Eventually I found some geeky kids to hang with for the remainder of my high school experience but I couldn't imagine how some of these kids go their WHOLE high school like that. Being alone and no one giving them the time of day because they're worried about being friends with someone who is "weird."
If that's the kind of "socialization" that they're talking about then no thanks.
Thank you for this mama! ❤️
Way to go Mom!! So glad I read this comment, what you were able to accomplish and do is impressive, this is an amazing encouragement! Thank you for sharing ♡
Wow, God bless you. I am so happy you kept pushing through no matter what anyone said.
I want to homeschool but I have no idea where to start.
Thanks mama and you are totally right!! ❤️
So true about kids staying sick in school. My nieces are constantly sick from school!! I’m looking forward to homeschooling my kids one day.
I agree! I'm 57 yrs old with grandkids who are now being homeschooled. My youngest of 7 will be 18 in a few months.
Thank you so much for posting this. This is one of the many reasons why I decided to homeschool my children. You just can't trust
public schools anymore.
Amen amen amen! Yes Beth... I am so glad for the homeschool community and mamas we can lean on to when we go through these situations ❤️
Amen. I will pray that God strengthens you.
I was too but I can’t work and do it
Amen! Best decision I ever made! ❤
Yes immediately I understood it to be the enemy. He was big mad!
This is just wild to hear, if I were her I'd be changing doctors YESTERDAY. My children's pediatrician and specialist were both so happy we are home schooling our kids. They praised their abilities to them. Doctors need to do better.
Thank you for sharing this Sara! It's nice to hear that there is great doctors out there. It's a blessing to find a doctor that respects you!
“There is no higher mission than raising our kids in the right paths”
Amen🙌🏽💪🏽
Thank you for this encouragement.
❤️🙏 do glad it was encouraging!
This is my 20th year of homeschooling. I continue in spite of naysayers because I know what's right for my kids. Keep going! These schools are sewers nowadays.
Hi Sharon! 20 years! That's amazing 👏 👏👏
I love that!! And I think I remember that episode! I might steal that line for myself 😏😅
That is perfect
The doctors (STEM professionals) push the same agenda. It’s an indoctrination center like religion and brick-and-mortar schools.
❤️ hugs!!
I can’t roll my eyes hard enough at this. Homeschooling is anything but convenient, hardest damn thing some of us mommas have had to do.
100%
Honestly he overstepped his boundaries as a doctor! I would love to know the clinic so I could avoid it like the plague.
Yes Miranda... when my friend was telling me the story I was shaking! He overstepped so many boundries!
I’ve had 4 medical professionals tell me they’re glad we homeschool our oldest! They see kids like my son getting left behind and having more issues in the classroom all the time. Definitely encouraged me that I made the right choice. ❤️
I love that! Gives me hope that not most health professionals are like this. Such a blessing to have health professionals that respect your decision!
This is why BOUNDARIES are so important. The conversation needed to be shut down after the doctor started addressing the child. I would have left, skip the appointment.
This. The minute the doctor started pitting my own daughter against me would've been the minute we walked out of that exam room.
Good for you for knowing what's best for your child ❤️
Children are so far behind in public school. I respect parents that homeschool their children.☺️🙏
“Teach children in a way that fits their needs, and even when they are old, they will not leave the right path.”
Proverbs 22:6
Love this ❤️ Amen!
I'm sorry you had to experience that.💔
It doesn't matter if he has a Masters degree, so what? What he said was down right awful! And all the knowledge in the world means nothing, if you can't operate like a decent human being. That definitely includes not disparaging his own grandsons behind their back and then run away with his tail between his legs. Quite cowardly IMHO.
You are doing right by your children, and praise God you have a supportive husband to lean back on! And most importantly God almighty himself to see you through!
Good Job Mama!🤗
Absolutely heartbreaking!
Your boys are being brought up the right way. And when they are grandfathers, they will love their grandchildren and see them as far more important than a grade from an indoctrination camp, I mean “school”
You are doing the RIGHT thing.
Just traditional…
And the kids will miss friends, but there’s groups to join and things to do.
I know mama. My blood was definitely boiling when my friend was telling me everything!
Thank you so much for your kind words Jamie! I'm so glad you are enjoying your first year! God bless you and your family ❤️
Thank you SO much for being a wonderful friend to this mama. You are a blessing to her, as well as many homeschooling mamas in this space. ❤️
Aww thank you so much friend! God bless ❤️
jennifercovington7949 I am confused, what poisons are they trying to force in your childrens' bodies?
I have been praying for some direction on this. Thank you for sharing this story! I have been experiencing this in many spaces. When I mention that my daughter is homeschooled, people look at me like I have two heads. God answered my prayers with this video.
Carla 😭❤️ I'm so glad this video could be an answer to your prayers. Thank you SO much for sharing this! ❤️
Wow, thank you for giving your beautiful testimony! It's always nice hearing from someone who was homeschooled! ❤️ many blessings to you!
This is gold! Thank you for sharing this! I'm going to check out that channel!
@@lifewithginab His channel is geared to help people think Biblically, but the principle carries over into these situations as well!
Totally agree! Thanks for sharing this ❤️
LOL I laughed sooo hard when the doctor said its "so convenient to keep your kids home"
Right ? Lol so convenient 😐🤭
I am also looking for a naturopathic doctor! I feel the same way!
Became not to fall down the alt right pipeline!! There’s a fine line if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Love this!
Golden! ❤
All the feels watching this. The people who disapprove of homeschooling are always so vocal about it. It amazes me the things they will say and the judgments they make.
Cora totally agree!
It amazes me too, also they are always wrong. They are so ignorant on this topic, and yet they feel the need to judge a family decision. Glad to have such an incredible community.
@@ClaudiaRamallo281 yes! So thankful for everyone building these communities.
Wow the audacity 🙄 I'm happy that your friend is sticking to her reasons to homeschool. Your videos are so helpful to our family too, thank you!❤️🙏🏽
Thank you so much! Means so much! And yes she is continuing to homeschool! ❤️
Preach sister!!! Anyone who homeschool would NEVER say it was convenient!! It is 100% sacrifice and, yes, the HARDEST thing I have ever done.
Preach mama
Thanks love! My son was in Private school and I was paying $1000 + a month for him. So definitely cheaper on my end when we made the switch!
Many times back when I went to school the teacher always told us to quit talking. Were is the socialization in that.
Thank you for sharing this ❤️
That is insanity!! Sorry she went through that awful experience. Thanks for
Your beautiful words at the end ❤ you have such a sweet and tender heart, Gina
Aww thanks Lauren! ❤️ I honestly couldn't believe what she went through. Total insanity!
My child thanks me for homeschool. It's not for everyone, but for some, it's a big blessing.
Here’s what’s dumb about doctors treating homeschoolers that way: they’re going to lose their business.
Honestly... do they actually think a patient will come back if they are treated that way? But you know, it's sad because from my experience finding a doctor who actually cares about you here in Canada is so hard!
@@lifewithginab Yes, sigh!
We have to remember that doctors are running a business and treat it accordingly.
I would start laughing hysterically as I walk out of the drs office.
Education degree and over 8 years of teaching experience but I get this same reaction. So ya homeschoolers are judge no matter what.
100% i feel like that's just an excuse people like using!
Gina, it is so nice to hear from a Christian mom that cares and fights for Godly education. We are the disciples of our children and must do all we can to teach them what is right and what is wrong from a Biblical perspective 🙏
Also, my kids doctor actually is very happy that I am homeschooling my girls and said that her husband is thinking about homeschooling their kids. She said that with all the things that are being taught to the kids right now, her husband is strictly against it.
Homeschool is hard. I have one boy who makes for two. We drive around as well.
There is no way I wouldn’t have told him all about himself as I grabbed my child and left after the first round of insults/judgement. Convenient..kinda like dropping your kids off to a stranger for 7 hours a day
Yes totally agree with you mama!!
I’m a Muslim and I choose homeschooling just like you said to get to know god , thank you
Girl! Loved this! Such a rollercoaster but thank goodness she has God, her husband and friends like you on your side. 💕
Hi Erin! Thank you so much! God is good ❤️
Thank you so much !!!!
Homeschooling is the only way to go! 💯🙌🏾
Yes!! ❤️🙌
😳😳😳 HE SAID WHAT?? Oh no, mamma! Doctor was talking to her child in the appointment trying to manipulate the situation?! That is INSANE. 🤬
Yes... honestly I was disgusted how be was trying to manipulate the child!
girly please dont cry!!! aww no no you are a good mama. amen in everything you are doing for your family.
Amen! God bless. I'm so happy this was encouraging... we are definitely not alone ❤️🫶
It's sad to see health professionals who are so stereotypical and misinformed. Keep spreading the real world of homeschooling. Thanks Regina for spreading the bad, good and ugly of Homeschooling. 👏👏👏
Thank you!! ❤️ and yes very sad!
I just found your channel yesterday, and I’m in love with your content and it’s exactly what I needed at this point in my life! Homeschooling moms/families make the greatest sacrifices for their kids. I pray for your friend and her confidence in teaching her children. Keep making your videos!
Aww, thank you so much! I appreciate you sharing this with me! God bless xoxo
It’s truly shocking when individuals no matter how educated or smart they think they are; feel like they have a say or knowledge about a topic they actually have no business to even speak let alone educate others on. Some people are really arrogant and it shows.
Yes... so sad but true!
Please tell me they reported him to the medical board? The second he blamed the homeschool for the child’s issue is malpractice!!!!
I’m devastated for you!🙏🙏🙏🙏😞
This video is going viral Gina, congratulations! 🎊

Aww you are so sweet! Thank you love ❤️
I think it helps to be a part of a homeschool community. All of my friends are homeschooling moms, so we share resources and ask each other for advice and prayer 🤪 It has helped me tremendously! I wish I did this with our older children.
I totally agree! So important to be part of a community ❤️
Aww, I felt all of this! I've been homeschooling my 5 kids since they were BORN and have gotten all kinds of slack for it. But never this badly from a so-called health professional. 🤨 Thanks for sharing. It is encouraging to hear!
So glad it was encouraging! You are very welcome! God bless you and your family ❤️
I had no idea Elena! I'm so glad your mother in law is now supportive and sees the benefits! What a blessing! Thank you for your kind words friend! ❤️
@@lifewithginab thank you and God bless
That’s crazy, thank you for sharing her story
You are very mama!
I am a retired homeschool mom. It is worthwhile. Keep going
Thank you for the encouragement 🙏 ❤️
I would have walked out and written an honest review on Google about that doctor. Then I would find a new doctor. Sorry your friend went through that.
Thanks Erica! And yes I've reported doctors before and written reviews and this doctor deserves to be reported!
Thank you for your testimony at the end. All I can say is, "amen!"
Aw Lisa! Thank you! God bless ❤️
Wow, I missed the memo that homeschooling is more convenient! 😲
No wonder we are homeschooling 🤔😅 so convenient!
Wow, love this phrase that you said Gina... "Being around other kids in a classroom does not mean that they're socialized". So true!!! This really resonated with me and was encouraging thank you
You are so welcome ❤️🙏
I would ask him where he actually studied about home schooling, because everything he said goes against all the statistics. I would fire that doctor on the spot. That is so manipulative.
