@@frankgarguilo2734 thank you very much. Half the time I'm just trying not to throw up on the mat. Lol. Wish I started BJJ 30 yrs ago. Never too old right?
@@dokim5033 Never too old. I'm 38, started 35, and altho I wish I started a long time ago, I'm glad I eventually found it. Better shape, great people, keeps my mind sharp, and always a great work out.
"I don't mind, because I always have options." What a great line. Not just to take with me to my next class, but for life in general. Great video, and well done Do!
You mention grip battles a lot. Something my coaches are always telling me. Your videos have helped me so much in seeing the importance of my grips. My rolls have been getting harder as I just got my blue belt, so I always have to be thinking about the connections I’m making, and the purpose they serve. Keep these videos coming, if I see one of your videos are out while I’m watching another, I’ll click away and watch yours because they are so darn good.
as newer blue belts we're like the perfect play toys for the upper belts haha. these videos have been helping me out too especially when Jordan says what the person is doing wrong and what they could be doing better.
Just finished the Elbows Tight Podcast. I wanna say thank you for the grueling hours you put in to make these high quality videos. You are appreciated Thank you
since watching your videos my flow rolling has gone to another level. rolling with less intensity and having enough time to identify the inefficiencies in my movement coupled with the main points of your grip fighting and 4 points of contact concepts has opened the language of bjj up to me. would love to see a video of your most important wrestling concepts and moves as my game severely lacks that and I'd like to improve it without drilling 1000 double legs and getting basically nowhere. keep it up bro!
I totally agree with everything you've said. Watching these videos and learning the concepts has allowed me to slow down and roll purposefully. I'd love to see some similar videos on wrestling / Judo concepts for stand up, because I'm too old and slow to blast double legs.
Being a white belt these videos are amazing and make me understand how to score points, like when you hit the sweep and it came up with 2 points. Keep it up
Taking my first class today at 27, I'm very excited. I appreciate your videos, I know 10% of your terminology so far. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be more understanding of what I'm seeing here lol
Love these videos. Your channel has got me back in to rolling again and training. Also that crucifix armbar is my favorite submission so far. And one of my favorite submissions to try ever since I got hit with one when I first started rolling.
Love these videos, I've really been struggling with getting my guard passed instantly by higher belts. Watching carefully to see how you do it. Making it look easy
Wonderful video! Constant reminders to get useful grips in your commentaries is a really great way to over think my positioning lol thank you very much. Also I would watch live stream commentary by you.
Because of you I now ask all senior belts I roll with to give a running commentary of what they are attempting and what I am doing wrong. They think that’s weird so I go back to watching your videos.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I'll definitely be checking that one. Wow is this helpful. Very polished video. A lot of work into this for sure. My take away line? "It's nice to be a black belt." Years and years of hard core commitment. Admirable!
The grip battle is so important but what I think has made me think the most is when you said said is this grip stopping me from doing what I want to do... when I first started watching your videos I was always thinking get some grips get some grips. Now I think "get some grips that make sense also is my partners grips stopping me from passing etc" if not I don't bother trying to rip them of anymore I just carry on. These videos have improved my game so much, cheers!!
The last piece of advice you gave was on point! As a white belt I have had people in a Submission but they don’t tap, I don’t keep pressing because we are just training. Great piece of advice!
Hey J!! Tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. I am starting private lessons with someone that is completely brand new to Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He is getting ready for the United States Army. He he leaves on the 26th of June so he wants to get as ready as he can for the combatives. I am excited to teach him as much as I can so he can have some type of Advantage when they do the grappling portion over there. A lot of my friends have told me that they have a tournament over there and that it gets pretty crazy. So I want him to have as much as an advantage as possible and God willing he does not forget too much of what I show him LOL. I will not teach him too much crazy stuff I am just going to ensure that he gets really good at the basics and take it from there. His dad is also a United States veteran and so are his siblings they are all in the military. So this is going to be such a huge blessing. Anyways I am using these white belt videos of yours to help me out along with the curriculum that I wrote out for him. I will let you know how it is going. Keep these videos coming!!!
hi jordan i just watched your video with jeff chan and he utilizes a super underrated pause and highlight in his video to bring attention to a certain underhook or other technique that might be missed by a novice or just a casual viewer
While I certainly appreciate variety, there’s something to be said for the value of showing repetitive techniques. Repetition brings familiarity, whether watched or drilled. This is one reason I go to class even if I have an injury or muscles need to recuperate, because I become familiar and learn so many new things thru observation. Thx again 👊🏻
Great video, the bottom 3rd information is a really helpful add on to the narration. I may not have seen it yet but you talk about the grips, being useful / not useful / problematic / etc, a lot so I'd love to see a / some videos which go into this in more depth
Hey Jordan. Old White Belt. Actually, I had to pause my journey for a bit. My old body can't go hard, but my mind wants to. I need to assess how hard I go in drills so I don't get injured. I love this video and all the white belt advice you give. Also saw that your wife arm barred you in a recent short. Go Nikki. Haha. Hope to start up again soon. Makes me sad that I had to stop.
Thanks for these videos Jordon. I find them super useful as a white belt. They're so much better than instructionals for understanding the concepts behind techniques. Great job. Keep them coming.

Because with your explanation of your movement founded I good practice and principals it Helps me to think about what is next when I'm rolling. I always find myself with my mind blank in a position not really knowing what to do next or why.
Love your videos man! Just one bit of viewer feedback: I like the extra bits of info and tips that appear as text on the bottom of the screen. I often pause the video to read them. The only issue is that they are so far down that they are obscured by the TH-cam progress bar and buttons. Maybe they could go up a little further, or somewhere else where they don;t cover up the action. Anyway keep up the great work! Looking forward to baiting someone into posting on their hand before snapping them into a triangle tomorrow! OSS!
Love your videos! Always informative and easy to understand. Small but great moment from this one was Do's response following the first arm-bar. He wasn't angry or sulky, quite the opposite. He smiled and looked excited to get back into it, great stuff.
👍Great video. I'm a white belt, I'd like to see more of these and it helps when you say what they're doing wrong and what they should be doing. Thank you!
You're making the best BJJ content I've found on TH-cam! These videos are awesome. Keep up the good work! The concepts you talk about are good for taking the initiative on an opponent and also preventing bad positions. But perhaps you could make another video focused on escapes against a skilled opponent (purple belt or higher, just like the one you have for side control escapes)?? Again, keep up the great work.
