  • I wanted to share with you my new Enlightened Equipment Revelation Quilt! I got the 20 degree model with 950 fill down and draft collars. I got this primarily for fast packing adventures here in the Weminuch Wilderness of Colorado. These are my initial impressions of the quilt.
    Features I love!
    - Super super small packed size, about 4 liters.
    - Draft collars to seal in warmth
    - Extremely lightweight at barely over 20 ounces
    - Made in my favorite Midwestern state, Minnesota!
    Like always, these are unbiased reviews. I review gear that I already own and tell you the good, bad, and the ugly. This is just an initial impressions review to highlight the extraordinary packed size of this quilt. We are in the dead of winter here in the San Juan Mountains and I won't be able to get this quilt out into the field for quite some time yet. I will do a full field review as soon as I'm able to.

    I was scared when my quilt just arrived. Your packing technique was just what I was looking for. I'm glad I sprung for the down version now for packability and loft. I'm a small guy but am thinking I should have gotten the next size up from the regular width but maybe it will be fine.

      I’ve never understood why people don’t demonstrate the pack ability!

    Cool video, I wish more people would make compression videos for their quilts.. I'm wanting to get the enigma APEX from E.E but am trying to find something to show it compressed , knowing down compresses better than synthetic im really curious how much more space the apex would take up as opposed to this down

      I had a regular 20 degree EE Apex a while back and tested a couple dry sacks with it. The smallest I was able to pack it was inside a 10 liter dry bag, but it was a pain to stuff and the seams were ready to pop. 12-13 liters turned out to be the smallest size I was comfortable with. Alternatively, I saw a guy on another video stuff a 20 degree down Revelation quilt into a 4 liter dry bag.

    have the enigma 10,20,30 temp custom quilts: never use stuff sacks put the quilt on the bottom within a nylofoam bag then pack from there. less weight and can fill in gaps with other gear by compressing the water proof bag after adding extra clothes etc... then I put a wet tent on top of nylofoam bag or on out Side of the pack to dry while hiking. has worked for 30 years and on completing the PCT

    I just ordered one (in almost the same color scheme), but don't have a stuff sack yet! Just the video I needed. Thanks! Do you think it could stuff down any smaller than the 8 liter sack?

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah i think you can get this compressed to close to 4 liters. It's very very small!

    It's been a year since you posted your review. Are you happy with the quilt? I'm considering buying either the Revelation or the Enigma. I'm concerned that the foot box on the Revelation could be cold due to the zipper and draw-strings. That is making me lean towards the Enigma with the sewn in foot box, I suspect it would be warmer. Thanks.

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This has been a great quilt though a litttttle small for me, I make it work. I added a draft collar to the foot box and I never had one single issue with that area getting cold. I’d recommend that as an add on for sure.

      @@PagosaCreative Does the drat collar add to the length of the quilt. Note you are 5ft .11 and using a regular regular. I am 5 ft 5 and hoping to buy.a short with draft collar. Don't want extra quilt if I don't need it!

    Doesnt pack a lot smaller than my WM Ultralite size L from what it seems. I thought quilts were supposed to be lighter and less bulky but the difference is just 250 g.

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one as 950 all down. My guess is that my compression sack is actually a bit large to fully take advantage of this. Western Mountaineering also makes an incredible bag.

    Thanks for the excellent review...Very helpful. It was my first chance to see the draft collar at each end. Are you happy with the length 9Regular)? Does your head stay in or stick out? I am 6'1" and am torn between Regular and Long size? I am a side sleeper who likes to sleep out in cold weather with my head under the blanket. Which size might you recommend? Any suggestions are most appreciated. Cheers!

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would steer you towards the longer version. I'm happy with the regular but i'm definitely right on the edge. My head is going to stick out just above the draft collar but I normally will wear a warm hat. You'll want to go with a longer version.

    How much larger do you think the 850 fill would be compared to the 950 fill when stuffed & compressed ?

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's hard to say. I don't think it would make or break your pack weight/size. I bet it adds another one to two liters in compressed size.

    I'm seriously considering an EE Revelation quilt to replace my Western Mountaineering mummy down bag which feels very claustrophobic to me. I wanted to see how it packs down into a stuff sack so I found your video to be very helpful.

    The unnecessary draft tubs added some weight; however, the bigger issue is the lack of a Dyneema Composite Fabric (aka cuben fiber) stuff sack.
    Indeed, your choice of stuff sack could have resulted in a lighter weight with equally or better compression. Only mentioning this because of the super small pack size you’re utilizing.

    In my experience, you can get things packed even smaller with dry bags. They create a vacuum like effect. These compression sacks keep air inside as you’re trying to squeeze.

    • @PagosaCreative
      @PagosaCreative  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could be using the wrong bags then because all of my compression bags expel air and let you get things extremely small.
