Topwater Tarpon on Fly

Summer is here in Florida and its a great time to target juvenile tarpon with topwater flies like gurglers and popping shrimp. See my other videos for how to ties those patterns.
Ideally I wait until the fish rolls then try and make as quick of a cast as i can in front of where the fish rolled. If quick enough they will usually come up and take the fly for some great topwater strikes.

well done. what wt rod are you using and what is your leader configuration? thx.

I use an 8wt TFO mangrove. For leader this is 40/25/15 with a bite tippet of 30 or 40. I did switch it out to a 9’ piece of 20lb and 2’ of 40 just to land them easier
