We use, in Finland, net over head (and helmet) that keeping those nasty flues away. We call this fly "paarma"
I live in Michigan and in the northern half these can be horrible, like a plague from May-July.Did you wear shorts with these patches on? If not, I wonder if they would still go for your legs?yes no?Hopefully not and if not, I am going to buy a hundred of these :)
I don't know what would happen if you were stationary, but biking or running, the go for a spot high up and behind you.
But no good swimming or on the beach, etc.
Essential oil spray work some of the, better than other . The repellent you have there is so toxic
I've tried natural products before but without any luck at all. I wish there was something that worked well. If you know of something, I'll give it a try. Thanks.
So that is what they look like huh. Interesting. I lived in Mass. about half my life and I don't remember them. :) The only thing that I would worry about with those is unintended victims. If I spotted other things on them like bees then I would have to reconsider using them.

Living on Cape Cod, you must have been bitten by those big green flies, no?
And yes - wouldn't want to harm the bees, although, if they are chasing me, I would prefer to have them get stuck on my tape rather than bite me.
Brad Herder It is possible that I have but I left at 18 to move to Plymouth, Mass with my mother for about a year. Then I moved to Texas to turn 19. I really don't recall if they were a problem or not. We have our own nasties here like bot flies. *shudder* I have rescued animals with bot fly larvae eating them alive. :( The most traumatic was a little kitten with a few live bot fly maggots in it. I got her to the vet and she was able to be saved. I later found her a good home after she completely recovered.
We also have soldier flies here but they are good though look a little scary. :p My son is a bit nervous around them but they are harmless. Their larvae are beneficial and also I could collect and sell them if I wished. They are used for lots of things including chicken feed. Reptile treats as well. :D I don't mind them until it rains and then they climb the walls of the shed and the house to get away from the water... it is creepy to see when a few hundred of them are escaping the water at the same time. :p
We also have ant lions which I find endlessly fascinating. I could collect and sell those too but I would rather keep them here for the entertainment value and to keep the ant population somewhat in check. :P

does duct tape work? im only 15
Alyxia Johnson it’s worth a try! I haven’t tried it but it would be way cheaper if it did work.
yupppppp,, top of your hat
I hate these things. I am a forest ranger and have to deal with these little Satans. I will gladly take mosquitoes over deer flies or horse flies any day!!
just use duct tape :)),,, highest point works the best
REEEEEEEEEE!
Pay an absurd amount of money for a few of these patches, or pay pennies on the dollar for a roll of duct tape.....
I'm going to try that as I'm running out of patches.
Did you try duct tape? Not sure if the recommendation was real or just trolling.
