TheRcSaylors you do k ow that aluminum Bens, a lot easier than plastic brakes? That’s why I went with the outcast 4s and no more the bens. I seen the kraton 8s already messed up. It’s slow and can’t do wheelies. I hope you guys didn’t wast all your money on this and become really disappointed.
@@ThatsToughTV I just wanted to point out, in the video, maybe the reason why the arma wasn't doing wheelies is bc there is an active driver assistant thing that keeps the arma from getting out of control or doing wheelies. It is like the traction control on your vehicle. When you try to accelerate it will automatically lower your RPM top prevent spinning out your tires. Now I'm sure theres an option to turn this feature off from the ESC or the controller. If they're isn't a way to turn it off then that's a shame on arma. This is just from my observation from ther video. I maybe wrong on this.
After a lot of bashing and crashing. I have come to the conclusjon: with a lot of plastic parts, comes a really tough truck. With a lot of metal parts, comes a lot of broken parts
Why is no one talking about real Arrma Kraton 8S problems!! I own one, I haven’t done any crazy thing with my 8S. Right out of the box, on very first day of my Kraton 8S, receiver and transmitter were fried. Why? Just because I updated firmware via my Bluetooth module. So first suggestion, DO NOT TRY TO UPDATE FIRMWARE. They took over 2 weeks to revert on the problem and eventually sent replacement for the same. As I start working with new equipment, I realise transmitter has significant delays. There’s a noticeable lag between input and actuations. This makes this truck unsafe. You apply brakes & truck takes its own sweet time (over 0.5 seconds) to respond at times. That is a major disconnect that you realise while playing with your Kraton 8S. I ended up upgrading my radio unit and things are better now. Second concern : Servo on Kraton 8S is amongst the weakest & slowest one. 180s are impossible on paved surface. Kraton 8S feels like and angry dog pretty much out of control!!! Before getting into it, I was confused between XMaxx and Kraton. I chose Kraton just because it looks better & it is bigger. Well, it certainly looks better that XMaxx. It is bigger as well. But I ended up buying XMaxx after facing all these problems with Kraton 8S. Now that I have both of them, I could say it with more certainty that XMaxx is way better truck out of the box than what Kraton 8S is! I fell in love with XMax with first throttle response!! If it is about having fun, it is XMaxx! If it is about going fast and high speed corners, it is Kraton 8S. (Only because it’s more of a low C.G. design.) But surely not out of the box. It needs basic upgrades to work just enough to be safe. 1. Radio upgrade. 2. Servo upgrade. Without these upgrades, Kraton 8S is useless and unsafe vehicle even as a toy!
I own both and the x maxx and the kraton 8s. A xmaxx frame is $10 vs $120 kraton frame and the x maxx frames are almost impossible to break where the kraton 8s can bend on one bad crash or jump. So for me plastics are the way to go. Ever try removing the screws from the kraton 8s? You are going to have to heat them up with a soldering iron first. Also keep in mind the x maxx is on its forth or so revision. The kraton 8s will get better with time. Just as of tonight they announced the new kratons 8s rtr kits being mailed out now, will have frame braces changes to strenghten the frame. And that is cool but that will cost you folks at least $65 to do those up grades. Here are the parts you will have to buy after already spending almost $1000 ARA320582 - Center Tower ARA320592 - Brace Mount Pin 67mm (2 pcs) ARA320593 - Chassis Brace Bar 164mm ARA320594 - Chassis Brace Bar 211mm ARA320597 - Rear Lower Chassis Brace ARA320477 - Brace Rod Ends w/Pins and Retainers (4 pcs) I am not bashing the kraton 8s I love mine just as much as my x maxx. All I am saying is you have to give Traxxas credit for a solid reworked and awesome truck. For the man or woman that was to ask ME which one is better for bashing and budget wise without a shadow of doubt I would go with the x maxx. For the person that is into racing and likes that racing platform then the kraton 8s is for you. Clearly two different trucks.
Xmaxx all the way.. Arrma is nice but my goshhh at 8s that aluminum gets bent its over. Plastic bends and flexs back Like John Kudla says 100% Traxxas best for bashing and getting wreckless
I never heard people say the xmaxx is weak and from what I've seen it that they are very strong trucks. The armma on the other hand bends chassis and plastic is a good thing for bashers because it allows flex unlike metal parts.
Just wondering if I am the only person who is actually in this hobby and knows a thing or to about rc and saw this video as “Arma has engraved metal and three metal braces so it’s really durable! But x max has plastic chasi so it’s weak😢” like read the comments metal is more expensive and bends easily plastic bends and goes right back. Also have you seen how much reinforcements of plastic there are on the x max. The only issue with the x max that you might encounter is if you take it off a 50 ft jump(aka Kevin Talbot) and then bend the, “metal” driveshaft. Honestly I’m just mad that they are not trying to be biased yet clearly are. And Traxxas batteries are not bad they are really good just expensive, the c rating is low because they are specifically tuned to work with Traxxas cars. There are better batteries but the only batteries that are better are more expensive then Traxxas ones like Venom or Max Amps. If you really want a non biased review and actual proof which is better or more durable just watch Kevin Talbot.
Metal bends,Plastic bounces back but less durable,The Kraton looks beautiful!!!!😍,The XMAXX looks mean,Thanks Saylors for making it such a hard decision to choose from 😂.
@@rcasper1809 Obviously you dont have a clue WHY they dislike Traxxas. They always give honest reviews on products regardless of the brand. Traxxas did them very dirty in the past. They have only given initial opinions so far. Don't jump to conclusions. I haven't. Simply commented on how good the Kraton looks.
I would have a metal body u can straighten it out once plastic is cracked it done. I have a slash I replaced of much plastic as possible and paid lots for as not to break A arms stuff like that the rear bullet proof very costly.
I'm not a fanboy of ANY brand however you as reviewers CLEARLY are biased against traxxas because they scared you a while back with a lawsuit. I'm not saying I wouldn't be however please don't BS us and claim you are being open-minded. Your views seem clearly skewed already on this comparison. I dont owm either vehicle but I do know companies like m2c racing and just bash it rc have built almost their entire business because of the arrma folding chassis. For a guy that flies styrofoam planes you seem awfully tough on a plastic truck that hasn't broken. I'm more disappointed that you've clearly already have a favorite without a proper comparison then which one is your favorite. Love the channel just not this opinion video.
@Robert Hipp very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. I'm a longtime viewer also. I just feel that if you're going to say this is an "open minded comparison" then let it be that. I would rather have someone say "before I get started I like X, Y or Z brand much more here is just my opinion" instead of trying to falsely sway viewers opinions to align with your own. I would feel the same way if their opinion was skewed toward the Traxxas also. As a consumer I want the best product especially nearing 4 digit prices. A stickered name is the least of my concerns. Even the "modular chassis pre-broken" statement. Like you said maybe it's lack of experience and not knowing it's much easier way to work on a vehicle with that type of design. Real race cars are made in this same exact fashion where whole front/rear ends, come apart with as few bolts as possible for easy quick repairs, adjustments or modifications. All other youtubers love the ease of working on modular design. I do enjoy their channel but brand bashing without cause i can do without especially on a "review or comparison" video
It's a shame the issue you had with Traxxas really shows in your comparison. You two are so biased. You said "You've heard things tend to break with the Xmaxx and that it comes pre broken for you" proves my point and you talk about doing honest reviews. What a joke that is. All rc's can break parts but the Xmaxx is a proven reliable and durable vehicle. Time will tell if the kraton will be as durable. By the way comparing the 2 is goofy anyway, the only thing they have in common is their both 1/5th scale
Droneman27 Yeah I’ve heard that, people wanna compare them, but they aren’t the same style truck. I mean, I think you could compare them both as a 8S basher
I own a xmaxx, I have replace several parts on my xmaxx. Just talk any hobby store guy who works on broken rc cars and he will tell that traxxas cars break....especially the xmaxx.
They also try and make the xmaxx look like a worse deal by costing 930 when it's the same price 899 almost everywhere. So much for being honest and fair.
I think it’s really cute how you guys are into these cars. You guys are sweet and perfect for each other. I hope you each live to be 100. Don’t lose the magic guys.
Plastic is better especially when u are getting in to this size truck,, I replaced all the suspension and added stainless steel plates to one of my XMAXX and it’s not a good idea! Parts bend and break every run,, with my stock XMAXX!? I can jump and bash with no problem,,, Metal is not always good on this scale trucks,,👍🏼👍🏼
Lmao there is NO Comparison. The Traxxas is in a class of its own. The Traxxas is a top-notch. Comparing the Traxxas to that truck is like comparing a Lamborghini to a Volkswagen LOL.
I've had the xmaxx for 2 years now and apart from the body taking a bit of a beating the only things broke was the top of one of the suspension and a suspension arm. Only because my son ran it at full speed into a wall. Very durable. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a kraton though
Yes they are the same size, but serve different purposes. So really one is not better than the other! They are not direct competitors. The kraton is more of a track, jump truck, will be superior there. The x maxx is more off road rough terrain, and will perform better over larger Rocks, roots, mud. The chassis design tells the difference. The high centre chassis helps with larger obstacles. The flat chassis will get hung up. The flat chassis helps if you case a jump a bit, and minimizes tumbles on track.
RC944jim here’s the straight truth. The XMAXX is the best RC monster truck right now, and the Kraton is the best Truggy. Both amazing in their “separate” categories.
Keep up the awesome work! I have been quietly following you guys for.... at least 5 years now. Bought my first Furibee f36 because of you guys! Amazing to see the channel grow. I know the whole Traxxas thing is going to bring some negativity from keyboard warriors. Just here to say keep positive and do what y'all do best! Smile, keep us entertained, and always keep your integrity. You guys rock!
@@27pugsly Long story short, the channel was built on reviewing a lot of cheap RC's with budget friendly options in mind. As usual, all in good fun and honest. Some companies had obvious Traxxas alternatives (among other big name RC brands) that Nate and Abby reviewed. Simply by mentioning the Traxxas name in those videos as a comparison/alternative, Traxxas came after them with their legal team with a cease and desist. Threatened with lawsuits. The whole shebang. This is such a fun and loving community they have built with such good intentions.... you could really tell it deflated them and put them in a state of fear for doing what they love. Edit: this was even in videos where they praised Traxxas products.
Troy Remy wow thanks for the information that’s really effed up !! Just making innocent reviews and Traxxas gets all sensitive and involves the law ! Wow well now I know why he hates them can’t blame him. But I’m wondering can he get in trouble for bad mouthing them too? This is the U.S right?🙄
@@27pugsly They were a much smaller channel when this happened too! It was a typical case of corporate bullying. They took down some of their most popular monetized videos at the time. Traxxas didn't like what they heard and threw around their weight to mess with their livelihood. Was pretty messed up. You would think a company of their size would have reached out in good faith instead and offered to send a free product to review. I used to run a pretty popular Twitch channel, and got free tech gear all the time to try out. Could have been a positive scenario and instead a LOT of the Saylors' followers now despise Traxxas.
Like the RC sailors, I am not a big fan of Traxxas. I do not like their politics or the manner in which they conduct their business. That being said, I give credit where credit is due. Even though the X-Maxx is mostly plastic, it is a very fun truck to run and watch on video. It is a little overpriced, in my opinion, but it is a fun truck nonetheless. I am not fortunate enough to own one, but I must confess I am very tempted to pick one up. I am an Arrma guy. I own several of their 6S lineup, including a heavily modified Kraton 6S. Which I can now run on 8S, thanks to a Max6 ESC. I will also confess, that I was, and still am on the fence when it comes to the Kraton 8S. I was disappointed in Arrma, for not introducing an MT, instead of another truggy. That is probably the only reason I am even considering an X-Maxx. But whichever truck you have the most fun with, that is the truck you should buy. Just remember, opinions are like A-holes, everyone is got one. Just buy whatever feels good to you.
@@bluelude2001 Traxxas was founded in 1986 and instantly became a hit with the new concept of RTR cars. In 1987, Traxxas started selling a variety of electric buggies and stadium trucks. In 1989, they released their first radio-controlled boat, the Villain IV. Up until 1992, all the Traxxas cars were electric. In 1992, they released their first nitro RC car, called the Nitro Hawk. They went on to release a nitro boat called the Nitro Vee in 1996 and in 1999 they introduced their first full-size monster truck, the T-Maxx. This was a turning point for Traxxas because they certainly made their mark with the T-Maxx. They went on to launch a helicopter and quadcopter in 2012, and in 2015, they released their largest monster truck to date, the X-Maxx. The X-Maxx was a game-changer for Traxxas. rcroundup.com/radio-controlled/rc-cars/traxxas/
@@lexsteel12 I meant like above you said you didnt like the politics of the company. You have it worded like traxxas has a bad past? I wanna know about that?
@@bluelude2001 I was referring to is the lawsuit with Traxxas involving Arrma. Traxxas had sue Arrma a few year ago, alleging Arrma infringed on a Traxxas patent involving the way Arrma had setup their shocks on their new, at the time, Nero truck. Traxxas nearly bankrupt it Arrma because of the lawsuit. If it wasn't for Hobbico, and now Horizon Hobby, Arrma would be history. And traxxas has a history of suing people for minor offenses, whether intentional, or not. They even trheathen to sue the RC sailors channel here on TH-cam, all because the RC sailors had the nerve, to talk about Traxxas. The company is very trigger happy, when it comes to lawsuits against people and individuals. Thats what I meant by their politics. They do make good products, but they do not have a very business friendly reputation.
Like your videos guys. Just got my xmaxx last night and my brother is supposed to be getting the Kraton 8 s soon. Can't wait to be able to do a comparison for myself with the 2 trucks.
Those Traxxas parts are at every RC shop...I have a Notorious and a Granite 4x4 BLX and am always having to wait on parts to be shipped, with my Traxxas vehicles I can drive 8 minutes down the road to my LHS and get what I need right then..
Lol I destroyed my slash but my typhon has been living for a couple years with only one driveshaft broken and those are cheap. Armma gave me a lifetime warranty on the car so tbh I prefer arrma
Don’t know about the Aarma. I just bought the X max and have only run it once at a construction site where the foundation was being dug for a house. 6 foot walls of dirt. When running the X max in the hole and running it back out of the exit ramp put in by the excavator, I’d run it up the ramp, raced the 200’ perimeter of the foundation at full speed then jumped it back into the 6’ deep hole, did a 360 donut, then back up the ramp and out the hole again....repeatedly until the batteries gave out. Running on two 4S Traxxas batteries. They lasted a full hour. Impressive! Must have made 40 - 50 laps. Blew out a wheel bearing. Not really expected, but I ran it pretty hard. Must not be very good bearings. Rolled it about a dozen times. 2 out of 3 flips, the Xmaxx landed back on its feet. Something I wouldn’t expect the Aarma Kraton to do very often. The extra $30 for the Xmaxx is worth it for that alone. I’ve had several rc’s. The Xmaxx is my new favorite by a long shot. I have not had as much fun with another vehicle.
One thing everyone should know about RC cars is that metal is not necessarily better than plastic. Metal bends too and when it does it's ruined, it permanently deforms. When plastic bends it snaps back to it's shape as soon as the load is taken off of it. You should only use metal on pieces that must have rigidity... such as the powertrain and steering linkages. The metal chassis on the Kraton looks nice but it's a mistake. There are tons of stories of people bending the Kraton chassis and having to spend a lot to replace it. Very few people break the xMaxx chassis and if they do it's less than half the cost of the Kratons. In fact the biggest weakness of the xMaxx is the metal center driveshaft... not any of the plastic parts.
The xmaxx may be plastic but it’s very heavy duty plastic,,very heavy duty,,,,,,I run xt90 connectors on all my trucks. I’m not going to be held hostage to buying just their batteries,,,,and there is no problems getting adaptors for the xmaxx connectors..... I m definitely going to get the armma,,but I’m going to wait till they have the full line of parts available,,,also I’m going to have to buy tools to work on it because the screws are a lot different than the usual hex hardware......have fun.....xmaxx also has driver adjustment as well......xmaxx is a breeze to work on when needed,,,I bash mine very hard,,,,with just the usual damages. Definitely NOT excessive......
Plastic is better than metal in these applications in many ways... 1)cheaper 2) plastic elasticity...instead of bending and denting like metal it flexes and absorbs impact 3) weight savings....biggest thing for me is the impact resistance
Ive had 3 Xmaxx's and hand down they are monsters had many arrma's and they too are monsters.. both great rigs but I do like the style of the sure size of a monster truck the xmaxx over the Kraton.
Great content as usual. One of the greatest ideas and definitely one of the best videos you've ever produced. I'm a huge fan of the rest of your content especially your drone views of racing, but this definitely tops them all.
I wouldn't judge somebody and called them stupid for using Traxxas batteries even though I myself use smart battery on my Traxxas X Maxx, you failed to mention that the plastic saves you a hell of amount of weight that's what makes the truck so durable and if you cannot be troubled to solder on your own preferred connectors thats on you !
If it's not too much! I would love to see a race and tug of war between these two powerful trucks! Thanks for the great content and keep up the good work!⚓👍⚓
Firstly 2 very impressive looking vehicles and even though I hate Traxxas the company, I like the look of the Xmaxx better than the Kraton when side by side. Since having had experience with 3 new Arrma vehicles this year including a Kraton 4s, Kraton 6s and a Typhon 3s, I've unfortunately lost some of my love for Arrma mainly due to assembly quality issues and the cheap Spectrum radios.
@@dreamchaser5753 Yeah I know the Kraton looks very impressive internally compared to the Xmaxx, but sometimes basic works very well too. I'm not saying the Xmaxx is going to be more reliable but my initial experiences with Arrma have been worse than expected. I had to replace the radio on my Kraton 4s due to really poor range and the oil is gone from all the shocks on my Typhon 3s, and I have never jumped it if that makes any difference. Severely leaking centre diff on a new Kraton 6s and a few other assembly issues that frankly you should not have to deal with right out of the box. I've never owned a Traxxas and maybe they're no better but I can only relay my own experiences.
Roger Wilco yea your right, I guess it’s all personal preference because i have a arrma senton 6s & the thing hasn’t given me any problems yet. I’m not downing Traxxas Bc they are more user friendly but I just find arrma a little more interesting. You could almost compare Traxxas to Apple/iPhone it’s pretty much perfection, you know the saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix” but there’s always room for improvement but arrma does step out of the box and try new things.
Xmaxx is way better. It take a beating way better than the kraton. The first time you hit something hard its bent. Plus you can do huge wheelies with the x maxx. X maxx ,Way better truck
I own the $500 Arma Kraton v4 6s And I love it. However I’ve had put a lot of money into upgrading it. From the MTC chassis to aluminum shock towers and braces etc. hands-down I would say, after upgrades, the Arrma lineup is tougher than the X max. However this is a theoretical statement For the new 8s model because out of the box the Arrma is not Tougher than the X max. There is absolutely no reason to slide the X Mas for being plastic, with the way it’s designed and the toughness of the plastics it’s seriously is amazing! So in order to compare the new 8s Arma to the X max and call it an X max killer, This can only be potentially true if these upgrades become available to the 8S model. Which they are in the works. Basically what I’m saying is that out of the box, the X max is unbeatable in toughness. In fact it’s plastic body and design are absolute tanks. I would tell people that if they were not planning on investing another $500 or so in aluminum upgrades to the Arma kraton 8S, the X Max is still king. That said, if you want to own the up-and-coming king of the hill in the 5th scale arena it might very well be the Arma 8S after all of these upgrades. However that is still not proven to this day. What is proven, is the X max out of the box is an absolute beast and 100% worth the money. So the real decision initially, as to which one somebody should buy comes down to style. The Arrma has a wider wheelbase and sits lower to the ground and will be able to race and take corners more quickly without rolling. The Traxxas X max however is tuned a bit more for jumping flipping etc. Both Ken Rice and both can jump amazing they are bashers! As far as getting parts and the cost for upgrades go I would say both are about the same. However the Arma begs the need for upgrades out of the box, wherr the X max Doesn’t as much. I’ve decided to subscribe to your channel because I’d like to see the outcome of you bashing both. And see if it aligns with my points above. I love the fact that you and your wife share this hobby. Extremely jealous. God bless
I picked up some of those Lipo savers you recommended. They work great and have already warned me in 2 of my batteries. Thanks again you guys are great!!!!!
Wow! But ya know what will blow both of those away?! The new Losi deser buggy Fox edition 1/5 scale in orange black !! Holy 🤬!! You guys gotta get that soon !!😃😃😃
Thanks for the side by side. Though I have to confess I'm an Arrma fan I do like the more aggressive look of the XMAXX. Mostly due, I think, to the larger tire knobs and front bumper. A 1/5 MT from Arrma would be nice to compare with the XMAXX. Just for fun I'd like to see a tug of war between the two. Maybe both back to back and front to front and on several different surfaces?
@@rattlehead7281 I don't know. I'd guess the XMaxx on loose surfaces and grass due to the big knobs on the tires. Like you say it'd be cool to see even though I don't think it'd sway a protentional buyer one way or the other.
XMAXX ALL DAY FOR ME, THE XMAXX I HAVE SEEN TAKE BEATINGS FROM HELL AND STILL GO AND TAKE MORE BEATINGS. THE REASON THE KRAPton DON'T HAVE WHEELY BARS IS BECAUSE WELL THEY JUST CAN'T WHEELY BUT THE XMAXX AND E REVO 2.0 WELL YOU CAN'T KEEP IT FROM DOING WHEELIES
Hey guys, great video. Have a question that’s not related to either of these trucks. You made a comment that Traxxas brand batteries are not really good to use. Curious what you meant by that. Are simply just over priced or are there performance issues with them? What brand batteries and charger would you recommend? Thanks!
Yeah, it's pretty commonly accepted that Ttaxxas brand batteries are simply over priced. It's not that they are horrible batteries, but there are much better performing ones on the market that are also more affordable and NOT proprietary. Weve got some great ones linked in our video description box and pinned comment! 👍⚓😎
Oh look everyone it’s an oversized E Revo. Yeah it’s cool but all they did is take one of their already built platforms and made it bigger. It’s not a ground up design like the X Maxx was. Don’t get me wrong I’m not crapping on Arrma I have 2 of their trucks. I’m just saying the hype was overrated.
*People invest 1000's of dollars into upgrades* I have invested 40 dollars into my x-maxx and trust me i have bashed it, my brother of 9 years have used it and crashed it, he hasnt broken it once. The only things that broke on it was the 7751 part and the tire. Other than that it hasnt broken anything! Plastic bends back while aliminium only bends once and it has to be replaced. And the aliminium on the kraton isnt even 7725 or whatever they said it was
Based on my interpretation of the Internet: Wanna bash hard and replace an ESC?: Xmaxx (Thou shalt buy a Hobbywing Max6!) Wanna bash hard and bend a chassis?: Kraton 8s (Thou shalt buy a M2C chassis!)
Not sure why I would be so stupid and buy traxxas batteries. They offer amazing customer service and they work with my xmaxx amazingly. I can’t say I have had the same “luck” with spectrum products. Not only batteries but spectrum receivers, speed controls as well as brushless motors. Traxxas is killing the game and nobody can blame them for wanting the consumer to buy and use traxxas batteries. If someone hated the traxxas batteries so much they could change the plugs to anything they want. If not themselves then with anyone who has any idea how to solder or use proper crimp connectors. I love rcsaylors. I love the air reviews as I am a Huge air guy. I understand why you would say that the traxxas connectors are “stupid” because you “can’t” use other batt packs. But the reasoning behind it is beyond logical
Hold on. Let me get this straight. All of us who has been racing Kyosho, Mugen, Ofna, TLR, Serpent, XRay and Tekno metal chassis stuff for the past 30 years, have all been doing it wrong eh? We would all run rings around Cody King and Adam Drake had we just used Traxxas plastic cars? Okay. I suppose I will have to change my billet Baja chassis for a plastic chassis. I'm sure that will work great in my 11 kg 47cc OBR equipped dune racer... Yup, makes a lot of sense.
Well...... the chassis on my Dodge Ram Diesel 3/4ton (1:1) pickup is certainly made from plastic, because it is so much better. To build a chassis out of.
@@torturedskull That's odd. Never bent my Nero nor my Typhon.... Hmmmm. Never bent my Graupner Super Impuls, Kyosho Turbo Burns, Ofna Hyper 7, Mugen MBX8T, or my billet Baja 5B. Never bent my Hobao VS Pro or my Tamiya TRF503, I haven't even bent by 31 year old Robbe Poker V1 even though it's fitted with a stupidly overpowered TNS .32 engine. I haven't bent my China built BSR Berserker that is fitted with a TP 4070CM and a Max5 running 10S. Go figure. I did manage to pretty much break a buddy's XMax in half after about ten minutes though. A week after fixing it, he not only managed to rip out the steering servo, within a day of fixing that, he tore off the left front wheel completely. Hmmmmmmmm. Yup, Traxxas being Traxxas.
I own 1 Kratson and 2 x max and kratson breaks easier then x maxx not to mention x-maxx parts are way cheaper to buy then kratson parts. Also the frame on kratson is nice but bends too easy. But to be honest they are two different rigs Traxxas is a basher.
In my honest opinion the xmaxx is way better main reason being it's plastic that bends and bends back easy but arrmas metal is pretty bad and bends waaaay to easy. Also I'm not sure if it different now but all the batterys I have bought all from different brand normally come with Traxxas connections as an extra so for me it's suuuper easy to find
Everything I read online and asked on my Traxxas groups all say the Traxxas Xmaxx is a 1/6 scale and not a 1/5 scale , please confirm this RC Saylors ? I just purchased the Xmaxx
There really is no industry wide standard for setting the scale of a vehicle. Arrma's 1/5 scale could be slightly taller, wider, shorter or more narrow than Traxxas 1/5 scale.
I know you've had your issues with traxxas BUT the xmaxx is way better. Metal IS NOT BETTER! Traxxas has tough plastic and is very forgiving and pliable. Once you take a hard hit on the chassis with that arrma, it's over.
Always great content. I’m ready to get a big 1/5 today. Torn between these 2. I am limited to medium grass backyard play. If you were limited to one (for now) which of these (or big Outcast) may better suit my needs?
Medium short grass would mean you'd be chasing your Xmaxx all the time, flipping it back over. It rolls over A Lot and just can't handle the turns as well as most other 1/5 scalers. Massive favor to ask: whichever one you decide to go with, will you purchase yours through our link? Thank you! 👍😁😎⚓
@@TheRcSaylors Thanks for the reply. I have taken the X off my list. Still trying to research and see if I will go Kraton Or Outcast. I clicked your link. It took me to Horizon and said page not found.
XMAXX all the way👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼🤗 DO NOT RIDE THE BABY ON THEM lol I let my grandkids sit on my XMAXX and ride them up and down the driveway lol 6&8 years old (: let’s see some basing videos
This is a joke. “We’re trying to be open minded here” While you openly bash Traxxas body durability. Y’all might want to look up the definition of bias.
The irony is the kraton 8s chasis bends everytine you jump it and needs to replace q major body component. The xmaxx will maybe break an arm after 10x the bashing
Hello, I am writing to you from Gran Canaria, thank you very much for the videos and for showing the articles, in addition to the information you give us. I just sent for the Traxxas x Maxx but I didn't know the arrma kraton, (and I think it's a better car) A personal question; If you had to buy one of the two, which one would you buy? ... Thank you for your help!
Search TH-cam more on the Xmaxx! It's a lot better platform! Unless u plan to race on the track strictly. That's where the difference lies. These guys dogged the Xmaxx before even trying it. They praised the Kratons before even trying it! It's obvious they were paid by arma to do this! If u researched the Xmaxx enough U'll see its a lot more durable!
Agreed very bias 😒 me and my son love our X Maxx’s man they are so tough. We are saving at this time to purchase the Kraton’s. We can’t wait to get these Rc’s I know there totally different and have their weaknesses part of the fun and enjoyment is fixing and upgrading them. but can’t wait to enjoy them both. Thanks for you time and effort I appreciate all input.
Jeff, I'm honestly really surprised by this comment! I thought we were cool. So, we've always been clear that our channel is opinion, based on our experience. Let's say you bought an Arrma and a Traxxas on the same day, and you drove them pretty much exactly the same, but your Arrma broke on day one and your Traxxas was still running strong! If your friends asked you about your experience, you would tell them the honest truth about your experience to help steer them in the right direction, right? So, I would hope that you would give us the same opportunity to share our experience. Traxxas tried to send their lawyers after us for calling a truck a Baby Xmaxx. It was taken out of context, and we didn't even say anything bad about Traxxas either. We spoke with TH-cam officials, and an attorney and everyone agreed, we did nothing wrong. Traxxas apologized, but only after our due diligence. Now, how is our having an opinion based on an experience any different than yours?
@@TheRcSaylors ok I’m sorry for my comment, I didn’t know Traxxas did this to you. I just thought you didn’t like them for no reason and I apologise, Traxxas treated you really badly. I’m sorry for my comment if I had known what Traxxas had done I would have never said those things
Thank you very much JF! That is why I took the time to fill you in. We like Kevin Talbot a lot too. Have a lot if respect for what he does for the hobby and industry. We aren't saying this about Kevin, because we don't know this to be true regarding him, but a Lot of people out there are sponsored by Traxxas. They have great products, of which we own a few. We just don't morally agree with how they run their business, and think it is worth letting others know occasionally. Thanks for hearing our side of the story as well.
NO FREAKING WAY!!! YOU GUYS GOT AN X-MAXX! I THOUGHT U GUYS HATED TRAXXAS WITH A PASSION! Love you guys, I've been watching for a while on my other account, and I love all your videos! That Kraton IS AWESOME! Not really a fair comparison though. HEAR ME OUT, OKAY? Don't COME AT ME WITH TOXICITY IN THE COMMENTS! The X-Maxx is a monster truck, while the 8s Kraton is a Truggy. The X-Maxx is no spring turkey, in fact, it's a 4 year old design, The Kraton is BRAND NEW! Also, the motors are different kv, the X-Maxx is "MAXX" scale, which, in Traxxas' books, is approximately 1/6th scale. So, sure you can have a preference (and I TOTALLY GET why you'd prefer the Arrma!), but they are two different animals altogether. And yet again, great videi!
Eh, maybe if you ramp it at a skate park. You know what is more important than bending a chassis at a skate park? Knowing where your hard earned money is going. Traxxas has a history that they try to hide. You should do some research before giving them any more of your money. Morally, we strongly disagree with their priorities. If you can sleep at night, while supporting them.. more power to you I guess.
Now that the Traxxas XRT has hit the scene, that would be a fair comparison. The X-Maxx is clearly a MONSTER & the Kraton seems to be more of a truggy. Both VERY cool just not really comparing apples to apples.
You guys do know plasti is better then steel for bashing stell is good for racing it keeps the car rigid and stable but isn't good for taking a bard landing
@TheRCSaylors I try to like your channel, but your hurt feelings (from what Traxxas did to you) are making your comparison videos biased. Your viewers deserve completely unbiased comparisons, please. Please don't see this comment as an attack, I send my love to you and your family. But I'm begging you, don't review Traxxas products if you're still so hurt by them. It's hurting your channel's credibility. If some egotistical marketing executive at Traxxas made the (bad/wrong) decision to try and flex their corporate muscles against your channel, don't take it out on the Traxxas engineers who build a tough and reliable product. Please.
EH, the plastic chassis is better. You'd think the metal chassis would be better until you go bashing and bend it. The X Maxx is a lot more durable in many ways and cheaper to fix when it does break as all RC cars do.
Wow guys y’all have hit the big time there I have to say I’m more a armor person than just have more metal parts than the Traxxas but both are awesome great video can’t wait to see them go head to head, good job guys 👍
This is an apples/oranges exercise. Aside from the scale, they have little in common. Why does everything have to be a "competition". Which is better? Total clickbait.

A truggy that identifies as a monster truck being compared to a true monster truck is not direct competition. Sad. Very sad.
Okay now bash them and see which one can take the most bashing before breaking 👍💯.
Just kidding That was for you Nate. Lol 😆😅😂🤣😁😋
Don't underestimate the advantages of plastic..... flex is good when bashing and aluminium only bends once!
Solid point. And plastic parts are cheap!
You can bend metal back too. Plastic only breaks once
@@el34glo59 if you bend it back, its gonna be weak as hell and will just keep bending. it just breaks lol
$22 plastic chassis that rarely breaks or a $100 metal chassis that bends on the first jump....you decide lol.
@@trailblazen lol.. yep..love my arrmas but I loooovvveeee .my maxx and my x maxx ... both have awesome products but definitely the xmaxx over kraton
Well said man.
Here are the parts you will have to buy after already spending almost $1000
ARA320582 - Center Tower
ARA320592 - Brace Mount Pin 67mm (2 pcs)
ARA320593 - Chassis Brace Bar 164mm
ARA320594 - Chassis Brace Bar 211mm
ARA320597 - Rear Lower Chassis Brace
ARA320477 - Brace Rod Ends w/Pins and Retainers (4 pcs)
I am not bashing the kraton 8s I love mine just as much as my x maxx.
Backyard R.C. Channel thanks for your unbiased well written description. Was contemplating between the two.
Trey Man my guy I’ve know you 15 years and this is a language arts essay. Totally agree plastic over metal chassis.
xmaxx chassis cost a 1/5 of the kraton and way more durable
Best comment yet! Kevin Talbot rules
No one punishes a vehicle like kevin talbot he's who I base my purchases off of if they can survive that bash I'll be ok lol
Arrma fanboy/girl in this video. Totally biased and not a fair shake.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Arrma’s 3s/4s lineup. But I am just not impressed with the Kraton 8s. Even as a Arrma “fanboy”, the XMAXX would be my choice.
I know Im debating on getting an outcast or Notorious! They look nice. But idc for the Kratons!
Strong plastic can be better than metal sometimes.
I'd rather have a plastic chassis on the X Maxx for flexibility. Metal chassis on my 1/5 scale gas truck. Two different uses.
Yeah you are write while plastic bends it bends back while metel stays bend and also plastic is also lighter and cheaper to make - credit Kevin Talbot
Metal bends,Plastic bounces back but less durable,The Kraton looks beautiful!!!!😍,The XMAXX looks mean,Thanks Saylors for making it such a hard decision to choose from 😂.
The Kraton is gorgeous. Just by looking under the hood alone I'm biased towards the Kraton. Cant wait to see the comparison.
@@rcasper1809
Obviously you dont have a clue WHY they dislike Traxxas. They always give honest reviews on products regardless of the brand.
Traxxas did them very dirty in the past. They have only given initial opinions so far. Don't jump to conclusions. I haven't. Simply commented on how good the Kraton looks.
Depends what u do with it.
I got an xmaxx and it Never brakes it’s is durable
Traxxas Xmaxx by far I have both
That’s what most say that own both. I have a traxxas stampede from 2001 and it’s plastic and the chassis never broke.
Finally somebody that has both and that is not biased
PLASTIC IS MEANT TO FLEX WHICH IS PERFECT IN A HEAVY VEHICLE... ALUMINIUM WILL BEND!!!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY IN THIS HEAVY VEHICLE
Pay all that money for plastic!!!! Traxxas garbage!👎
You said it
I would have a metal body u can straighten it out once plastic is cracked it done. I have a slash I replaced of much plastic as possible and paid lots for as not to break A arms stuff like that the rear bullet proof very costly.
Disagree
Nicely put, I totally agree. I own nether and clearly seen a biased review with a ton of hate on traxxas.
I would go for the Xmaxx parts cheaper
It's a shame the issue you had with Traxxas really shows in your comparison. You two are so biased. You said "You've heard things tend to break with the Xmaxx and that it comes pre broken for you" proves my point and you talk about doing honest reviews. What a joke that is. All rc's can break parts but the Xmaxx is a proven reliable and durable vehicle. Time will tell if the kraton will be as durable. By the way comparing the 2 is goofy anyway, the only thing they have in common is their both 1/5th scale
Droneman27
Yeah I’ve heard that, people wanna compare them, but they aren’t the same style truck. I mean, I think you could compare them both as a 8S basher
None of them are true 1/5 scale. If they where the original, full size. truck would be 12,5 foot long.
For the same price “I” believe XMAXX win all the way! Time will tell i guess ✌🏼😎👍🏼
Interesting. I would have been 100% more confident in a steel chassis. Good info.
@Robert Hipp That's a very generalized statement and not necessarily true. And you can also tweek metal back. Once plastic breaks, that's it
Xmaxx seems like it's better for all around bashing
The x maxx is more off road rough terrain, and will perform better over larger
Rocks, roots, mud. The chassis design tells the difference. The high centre chassis helps with larger obstacles. The flat chassis will get hung up. The flat chassis helps if you case a jump a bit, and minimizes tumbles on track.
Matthew Smith 🤣 did you assume they knew difference 🤣🤣🤣
RC944jim here’s the straight truth. The XMAXX is the best RC monster truck right now, and the Kraton is the best Truggy. Both amazing in their “separate” categories.
Just watched Kevin Talbots video, and he even says they serve different purposes.
Troy Remy what happened with them and Traxxas?
@@27pugsly
Long story short, the channel was built on reviewing a lot of cheap RC's with budget friendly options in mind.
This is the U.S right?🙄
@@27pugsly
They were a much smaller channel when this happened too!
I'm new to the RC scene... What's the background story on Traxxas?
@Edward Knight I believe I heard him say it, yes.
Xmax can handle more abuse and parts are actually cheaper. Kraton handles better and flies better.
Like your videos guys. Just got my xmaxx last night and my brother is supposed to be getting the Kraton 8 s soon. Can't wait to be able to do a comparison for myself with the 2 trucks.
How’d it go? You like the xmaxx better than ur bros kraton?
@@staccatoglock Both are good tbh my play style does fit better with the xmaxx however.
I’m getting the Xmaxx with the traxxas batteries and charger. Traxxas is better
Meh. If you like sinking money into parts then yes, Traxxas is better.
TheRcSaylors I have a lot of traxxas rc cars and I really beat on them and nothing has ever broke, but with my arrma rc’s they brake so easy
Those Traxxas parts are at every RC shop...I have a Notorious and a Granite 4x4 BLX and am always having to wait on parts to be shipped, with my Traxxas vehicles I can drive 8 minutes down the road to my LHS and get what I need right then..
I charge my smart batteries with a Traxxas charger
Y'all always show the love towards your supporters and that's awesome!
I think the Arrma Kraton wins this one. Your little dog is so cute!
Now we want to see a side by side bashing comparison! I've seen both in action, and I will enjoy watching y'all put these through the pases!
Plastic is better than metal in these applications in many ways... 1)cheaper
2) plastic elasticity...instead of bending and denting like metal it flexes and absorbs impact 3) weight savings....biggest thing for me is the impact resistance
Ive had 3 Xmaxx's and hand down they are monsters had many arrma's and they too are monsters.. both great rigs but I do like the style of the sure size of a monster truck the xmaxx over the Kraton.
Early squad where you guys at (:
Here!
The Fam Jay Crew Here I be, ready for this EPIC SHOWDOWN!!! 😆👍🏼
Great content as usual. One of the greatest ideas and definitely one of the best videos you've ever produced. I'm a huge fan of the rest of your content especially your drone views of racing, but this definitely tops them all.
One of the coolest comparison videos.
Thanks Jeff! 👍⚓😎
I just like the look of the Xmaxx better. Not a fan of the wing on Kraton. Would like either. If I was buying one tomorrow, I'd go X.
Thanks for the great content and keep up the good work!⚓👍⚓
Thanks for this video! You know that I'm pretty focused on airplanes but I like many like watching videos about other RC's. 👍
Roger Wilco just look how basic Traxxas looks 😭
Those 2 trucks are awesome! Excellent video Nate & Abby!! 😊⚓⚓
Xmaxx is way better. It take a beating way better than the kraton. The first time you hit something hard its bent. Plus you can do huge wheelies with the x maxx. X maxx ,Way better truck
Totally agree dont know why everyone thinks metal is so good on rc vehicles all it does is make the vehicle heavy and does not flex
Will need to do a tug-of-war between them two!!
899$ for xmaxx at my local shop
You guys are about to have too much fun!!! Those big rigs are awesome.!
The plastic on the xmaxx bends and gives where the metal on the aarma will just bend and stay bent!
Arrma is probably heavier as well. I do like that that stance is wide though.. I own an Xmaxx and love it
I own the $500 Arma Kraton v4 6s And I love it.
God bless
Ah! Please get the E-Revo 2.0. Please! I have one and I absolutley love it.
Both amazing trucks, I'd personally go for the X maxx I love the way it moves and handles.
Xmax been out for years. Tested and proven years ago
Yes, we know and are very clear and open about that. However we wanted to share our experience with it, and just enjoy life.
I picked up some of those Lipo savers you recommended. They work great and have already warned me in 2 of my batteries. Thanks again you guys are great!!!!!
The xmaxx is way better and more durable
M Ld traxxas is over priced plastic garbage
James hanks sr Plastic is a lot better than metal most of the time
James hanks sr arrma chassis suck
I'm a arrma user, and I have no doubt that for hard bashing the xmax is the king. But for speed and race track the kraton runs rings around the xmax
Nelson Marques I agree the Xmaxx is more durable but the kraton is going to be better around the track
Witch one is making you more money? What if it's traxxas will you change your feelings about them?😄
😂😂😂
Traxxas is a toy.
Wow! But ya know what will blow both of those away?! The new Losi deser buggy Fox edition 1/5 scale in orange black !! Holy 🤬!! You guys gotta get that soon !!😃😃😃
We have our eye on that one! It looks sooo good
TheRcSaylors awesome 😊 can’t wait!
you better be very careful what you say about Traxxas or any other brands anymore everyone is out to sue everyone
Metal is heavy an bends an that pretty chassie won't hold up with some bashing an feel like u are pushing armma jus a liiiiiiiittle bit
I'll take that pretty metal
Yeah pretty weak at my lhs everyone they sold came back with pretty bent chassie
The armma would probably win due to its wider wheelbase and lower stance but it be cool to see
@@rattlehead7281 I don't know. I'd guess the XMaxx on loose surfaces and grass due to the big knobs on the tires. Like you say it'd be cool to see even though I don't think it'd sway a protentional buyer one way or the other.
@@BillKisel on a loose surface the xmaxx probably would win but on tarmac probably the armma. Personally though I prefer the xmaxx
@@rattlehead7281 It's all good, get what you are able and enjoy the differences
@@davidfanara6093 couldn't have said it better! Have fun rc'ing
My e revo 2.0 didn't come with wheelie bars either but it was the first thing I had to add
Shorter wheelbase.
Great comparison video! I like the X color scheme better!
Can't wait to see a drive comparison video!
I see the link. Thanks a bunch!
It isn’t hard to remove the traxxas connectors and solder on your own connector. I learned how to just to do that.
RC On The Trail and the Traxxas adaptors for the old Traxxas connecters will fit the new Traxxas connecters.
That is so cool that your wife is on board with the love of this hobby.
Thanks! We have been really happy sharing a hobby together 👍😁😎⚓️
x Maxx❤❤❤
Oh look everyone it’s an oversized E Revo. Yeah it’s cool but all they did is take one of their already built platforms and made it bigger. It’s not a ground up design like the X Maxx was. Don’t get me wrong I’m not crapping on Arrma I have 2 of their trucks. I’m just saying the hype was overrated.
its an all new platform, nothing is shared with the 6S
I wonder if he feels the same way about the Traxxas Maxx? Could call that just a scaled down version of the Xmaxx and not worth the hype as well?
@@JakesFamilyRC except the maxx IS WORTH THE HYPE because the xmaxx is an AMAZING basher.... arma cant compete with it
Being scaled down is worth the hype. Making a bigger slower more fragile kraton IS NOT WORTH ANY HYPE.
And the aliminium on the kraton isnt even 7725 or whatever they said it was
Based on my interpretation of the Internet:
Wanna bash hard and replace an ESC?: Xmaxx
(Thou shalt buy a Hobbywing Max6!)
Wanna bash hard and bend a chassis?: Kraton 8s
(Thou shalt buy a M2C chassis!)
Lol I agree
But the reasoning behind it is beyond logical
despite ppl belief that metal chassis are better than plastic....I need to tell you that you are not exactly correct.
My Outcast chassis bent 3 times. Same jumps with X Maxx, no issues, hmmm
Well...... the chassis on my Dodge Ram Diesel 3/4ton (1:1) pickup is certainly made from plastic, because it is so much better.
@@pmgilliam Nono. The plastic chassis trucks are Fords. Our Cummins rigs use iron. Mexican iron, but iron...
I think I'll buy Kraton 8s. Since I have limitless roller i can swap the esc n motor when I do upgrade ..
I own 1 Kratson and 2 x max and kratson breaks easier then x maxx not to mention x-maxx parts are way cheaper to buy then kratson parts. Also the frame on kratson is nice but bends too easy. But to be honest they are two different rigs Traxxas is a basher.
I think of the kraton 8s more of a giant erevo. Better handling racy truck and the xmaxx is a basher
You are right
You are right
You guys make me want to get into the RC hobby so wish me luck getting into it
In my honest opinion the xmaxx is way better main reason being it's plastic that bends and bends back easy but arrmas metal is pretty bad and bends waaaay to easy.
Lol

This is a joke. “We’re trying to be open minded here” While you openly bash Traxxas body durability. Y’all might want to look up the definition of bias.
and ARMA doesn't do wheelies. ( not designed for wheelies) it's a racing Truggy. god ah! hence ARMA no wheelie bar...
The irony is the kraton 8s chasis bends everytine you jump it and needs to replace q major body component. The xmaxx will maybe break an arm after 10x the bashing
It was supposed to be a comparison, not somebody else's biased opinion, ridiculous !!!!
Ahh all the new people to rc who watched this is gonna waste there money on arrma from this biased and untrue review.
Finally the e-Revo is mentioned great job 👍 love the channel
You need a little trailer to pull Popeye around on.
Which would you prefer? I can’t decide which to get between the two..
I prefer the kraten 8s because of the style and price
Xmaxx end of story..
Agreed.
Kraten for me
Only one way to settle this. Now I need to buy a Kraton. 😂
Xmaxx is more durable than kraton. Kraton chassis also bends and costs $99 to replace
@@TheRcSaylors can't agree more. The history is very sad
Now that the Traxxas XRT has hit the scene, that would be a fair comparison. The X-Maxx is clearly a MONSTER & the Kraton seems to be more of a truggy. Both VERY cool just not really comparing apples to apples.
I like arrma but the xmaxx is king
Please.
Facts
They don’t like the criticism. @TheRCSaylors did my like me saying they are Anti-Traxxas. Glad I’m not the only one who could see it.
I see still have the Traxxas connectors, what connectors or battery connector converter are you using on your non Traxxas batteries.
