    I’ve made this shirt 3 times now - it’s become a firm favourite. Like you I lengthened the front but by 2 inches. I also made the front opening slightly smaller, I just used dots further up, for me the opening was just a little low. But - I love it. Thanks for your video, love it! 🐾🐾

      How much further up did you go with the dots please?

      I went up three. It meant I didn’t have such a low opening at the front! 🐾🐾@@LuzMartinez-if1dw

    My grade 9 home economics teacher would be so impressed with the inside finish of your shirt! Your version is lovely. I think I might have to buy the pattern. I would definitely make it a few inches longer. I would also want to draft a long sleeve as we are coming into fall. Thanks for your very detailed review.

    Hi Michelle, I'm a C/D cup and I had a disaster the first time I made the Patina blouse. It was way too big on the upper bust and shoulders. So I sized down with the Donny shirt so it would fit on upper bust and then used a FBA method from the Helen Closet blog which was written for the March top which also has a dartless bodice. It keeps the sides seam length but added 1 inch to the centre length. The fit has turned out perfect.

    This is on my cutting table right now Michelle so I appreciate your video even more. I am on team trace too and am using the white lemon fabric Lady Mac Elroy from Beyond the Pink Door. Your comments about the drape are so helpful. The cotton fabric I'm using will be boxier but if I can get the fit right, I may actually cut into some Tana Lawn I have had for some time as I love the way your shirt drapes. I have had good luck with Friday Pattern company patterns before, especially the Square Neck Top but have now added some pounds so may need to retrace the pattern if this size doesn't fit right. Take care. Love your cheerful videos. xx Karen

    I agree this is a lovely pattern and so easy to make. I have a D/E cup bust and found it fit OK without my usual full bust adjustment but I do think I will lengthen it, perhaps by 2 inches, when I make it again, because I will make it again for definite.

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  ปีที่แล้ว

    Your Donny is stunning Michelle. I love the details of the burrito yolk and collar facing. Is there a bust dart? I didn't see one on the pattern piece. That's the only snag for me to make one as I have a fuller bust, but I love yours and I love cotton lawn. Thanks for the review Michelle 😊

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  ปีที่แล้ว

      No bust darts so it does ‘hang’ from the bust but thank is the style of the shirt which is why I think it is a good option in a soft fabric with some drape x

    Lovely review! I’ve made one Donny and have another shirt and two dress hacks planned. I added a little length but was limited by the amount of fabric I had. In the future I plan to add at least 2 in of length, and bring the center front seam up by 1 in. Hoping it works for me!

    My bust difference is 10 inches. I have a very small rib cage and huge bust which makes fitting interesting! On the whole, I'm an hourglass figure so my bust and hips are roughly the same, my waist is 10 inches smaller than my hips and bust but I'm short at 161cm and very heavy at 100 kilos. So a stumpy hourglass!!! In some ways I fit ready to wear and patterns quite well but it depends on the design.

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it can be quite hit and miss with the sizing, I think a lot of the time it is trial and error so I just dive into what I think is right and thankfully more often than not I manage to pull it off 🤣👍

    Your Donny shirt looks amazing! I was able to purchase a big 4 pattern for only $1.99 and it looks basically the same as the Donny. However, the inside finishing is not like the Donny and the instructions were awful. Despite that, it turned out nice enough, but sometimes it’s just worth spending a little more to get a better product.

    Thank you Michelle for the lovely Donny shirt review. I’ve seen a few other vloggers wear the pattern and everyone seems to love it. I really like the fabric you used and the top stitching is virtually invisible which looks very classy. Do they have you do the “burrito “ method for the yoke? It looks like it would lend itself well. I would definitely add length especially to the front and I saw someone else said they raised the front v a bit… ❤

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the yoke is done using the burrito method so it’s a lovely finish. I found the front V ok for me but I think a lot of people would lengthen 😁 thanks so much for watching x

    Great video - love your version and it looks fabulous on you! I've made two Donnies now - both in viscose linen which worked a treat. As I have some mahoosively high waisted trousers I wanted them to go with, I kept the original length and it is perfect for what I wanted. The only change I made was to raise the front dot by about 1.5 inches/4ish cms, and it sits just right for me now. This is definitely a pattern I will be revisiting many, many times 🥰

      @@angelabyrne1530 yes, dead easy. As I mentioned above, I simply raised the dot by the required amount and made exactly as per instructions for everything else.

    @ritaadler-everett5392 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've had the paper pattern for about a month now and can't make up my mind about what size to make. My measurements fall into a med, however, I'm only 5'3", so I think I should definitely shorten it. Being shorter, I feel like 7 inches of ease everywhere is maybe too much for me. I hesitate to go to a small though for fear that the shirt will then be too narrow across the shoulders. Has anyone else used the finished sizes to base their shirt on? Thank you.

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you could potently size down, my measurements put me in a mix of medium and large and decided on the medium as it was a boxy fit. The 7 inches sounds a lot but when it is on and draping it doesn’t feel too much for the boxy style x
