  • Today we will learn about the double-acting solenoid valve structure and operating methods! Let’s compare the internal structure and operating principles with that of single-acting solenoid valves and connect to a pneumatic cylinder to activate, to see what principles are used to change the direction of the fluid flow! 😊

Your video explanation is very good, the principle is also very clear, forwarded and shared. grateful!

What a great explanation and animation! So, with a double-acting solenoid valve, the cylinder's rod can stop at any position between the maximum and minimum stroke. But, a single-acting solenoid valve only has two stop points. Is that right?

I don't know if I understood it correctly,
The fact that the cylinder can stop anywhere between the minimum stroke and the maximum scroll can cause this to happen if the fluid is cut off or there is not enough force delivered.
If you intend to stop in the middle, you can stop using a multistage stroke cylinder, and the 3-position valve can stop in three positions.

Thank you for the easy to follow videos. If left solenoid is on having the cylinders rod in the out position and then left is turned off without turning on the right side the rod would stay out since there wasn't a signal to moves right sides plunger right? If so would it be because the left plunger stays left from ongoing pressure from hydraulic pump or would the left plunger go back to the right creating equal pressure traveling thru both sides of the pilot hole?

Great video, but the terms Air and fluid seem to be used for the same thing?

Is there a 3 port double solenoid ?

if none of the coils are operating then there will be no flow of air na? is that the difference between single acting and double acting solenoid?

  • @himalaysharma8

So the exhaust ports(3 and 5) are on Pneumatic Cylinder or on Solenoid value?

Ports with numbers in the video are marked on the solenoid valve.

What happens if both solenoids are activated? Will they be fighting for priority and eventually damage the valve?

      Thanks for the interesting comments.
If electricity is input to both coils of a double-acting solenoid valve at the same time, the device may malfunction or the coil may be damaged if energized for a long time. So, you have to turn both sides on and off alternately.

Hello. If electricity is input to both coils of the double-acting solenoid valve at the same time, the device may malfunction, or the coil may be damaged if it is energized for a long time. So you have to turn on and off both sides.
