Imagine playing poker for 10 hours straight, every hand causing you fatigue, mentally tired, adrenaline causing your heart rates going up, etc. Same is with Esports, you are doing your heart getting high rates causing adrenaline and fatigue. Is like if you say F1 driving is not a sport because you are sitting in a car. It makes it a sport because your body is working as same or more than doing Physical movements like football or sports like these. Same as skydiving yoy are just '' throwing your body and doing nothing'' but it is a sport. Sorry for my english but I hope I express good!

The Daniel Negreanu Ad is the only ad I ever let play and enjoy it.
I love how the two of them have completely different ways of playing the game.
Negreanu reads the cards to the point where he's good at predicting the exact cards his opponent has and makes tactical plays based on that. Whereas Minieri reads the cards to, but actively tries to throw his opponent off with a degree of randomness to make himself unpredictable.
It was a good match.
he should of put more pressure in his bluffs by raising instead of just calling especially if its alot at random moments and it looks convincing its more likely to work

What they didn't show in this video was the interview with each player before the match. Daniel had the perfect strategy. He mentioned that Dario has made millions online being hyper-aggressive, and Daniel mentioned using Dario's aggressiveness against him to trap him.

The moment u start having a conversation with daniel in a heads up game u are putting yourself in a position to lose. Coz obviously negreanu is just using it to read u while u are being lured out of your natural element... Then he smacks u in the face when the right hand arrives when u make a mistake coz u got too comfortable talking to him... Daniel is best played when u dont talk at all.

Daniel is my favorite because he both wins and loses very gracefully and is always friendly and funny. He can needle people in a jokey way, but the difference between being a mean asshole vs a funnyman is the ability to take it as well as you dish it out, and Daniel can take it well. I love his personality, and I love his personality always coming through when he plays. Some people are just stoic, joyless dickbags, Daniel is so refreshing.

The first time I ever watched Daniel play I thought he was annoying with all his comments and quirks but after a few minutes I realized he's a really cool guy and seems like a genuinely nice guy. What a legend.

Basically you want to have combos with your cards. There is different kinds of combos and the strongest combo wins.
But how do you know if the other guy has better cards than you do ? You cant know.
The kid often bluffed Negranu and it usually worked. At the end he tried bluffing negranu by going all in (so he has a weak hand, but goes all in. Hes bluffing that he has an amazing hand) and Negranu instantly does the same. And to me the beauty of this is almost as if Negranu was letting him win with the bluffs earlier just to bait him to make a risky bluff. Whenever the kid bluffes, Negranu would laugh it off and fold. But not now. :)
I would have cried myself to sleep for a good week or two if that happened to me.

He knew he would bluff no matter what so as soon as he figured he had the better hand (prolly around 5:00 when Minieri starts looking nervous lol) it was over. He was in his head at that point

See everyone always focuses on Negreanu’s party trick of guessing hands and they claim that’s what makes him an amazing player. But this game is what makes him an amazing player. A tough odd ball hard to read opponent that takes down a lot of people for his awkward style of play.
Fishing for probable hands or blind guessing opponents hands anyone can do to find a tell when you guess right. But to adapt your game to match or beat the person across from you at any time we’ll is what separates the common player from the greats.
This was an excellent perfectly played heads up game. This may be one of my favorite videos of him yet.
Dario made a shit ton of money playing this kamikaze style back in the day. But it's way too wide open to avoid getting smashed in today's game.
which is why none of us see Dario around lately maybe...
I actually love Minieri's style. I find myself struggling to just pull that trigger like he does tho. If I could I definitely think it'd open a new degree of poker for me.

It's only useful in heads up or online formats where you can be anonymous and unpredictable. You're going to get rocked in cash games against competent players.

the guy got pocket aces and kings in less than 10 hands in heads up. there are only so many options you have with the cards you are dealt.

If their positions had been reversed on that pocket 7s flop hand that Negreanu folded, the French kid would not have folded the hand Negreanu had.

he let him get comfortable with the bluffs, picked up on his bluff pattern, and used it against him. You want to get ahead in poker, you got to keep it fresh and rotate strategies until you confuse the heck out of your opponent. Bad luck aside, predictability is your death in this game!

Danny can read 8 out of 10 hands, no prevelence towards who hes playing against. Not only can call both hole cards, but also can call the suit within each card. Telepathic, also very good instincts. Danny puts on the puzzled look, but actually knows much more than he exhibits. Viewed him call 4 consecutive hands, 2 hole cards, including the suit within each hole card. One particular hand an opposing player had 7-spades, 8-spades suited hole cards. Danny initially mentions i feel you have 7-8, short pause, then mentions 7-spades, 8-spades. Opposing player had exact hole cards danny predicted. Not a one hit just lucky call, due to dannys extreme consistency within this trait.

@@Heopful Nah, he's also thinking ahead. He knows he has a hyper aggressive player, he cant even guarantee that a re-raise against a low pair will get him to fold. So he plays strong hands cautiously (waiting for Dario to trap himself), and plays mid hands where he doesnt have to commit much as a hope to draw (which is his usual play). He lets Dario get nothing on a 7-7 that goes trips, yet extracts a 2:1 advantage off his own A-A...and in the process, talks up Dario like a genius for making him check the river.

Tactics...its opens your opponent up to make mistakes, which in turn you benefit from. Negotiating 101, you stay in control by making others think they are in control
don't let his loose mouth fool you into thinking his brain is loose too, seems like plenty of people at the table have made that mistake
Negreanu is not only a natural born player, with amazing insights and intuitions, but his table talk and presence are quite entertaining, too. His trash talk is designed to psychologically probe the opponents, like abducting ET’s probing the unsuspecting humans. 😂

It worked for a while, just blasting people who play tight which was a lot of people at the time. The game evolved and this style no longer worked enough to profit.
When Negreanu folds his hand before Minieri gets to play his 3 of a kind is when I knew it was over.
Mixes it up so well? Guy was playing recklessly. Negreanu's chat was making the guy feel comfortable to bluff, knowing that Negreanu was going to exploit it in the end. Brilliant.
Never look at your cards twice. It shows that it was off suit and low. You can't remember them easily like a pair or A K.

The thing Daniel does better than any other player is reading the flow of the game. Hes obviously good at the %'s game and putting people on certain hands but where he excels is his ability to smell blood in the water and know how to perfectly execute someone who's accidentally flinched. He also isnt afraid to trust his gut every once in a while and it pays off for him quite a bit. Something that someone like Phil Helmuth doesnt do bc hes a strict %'s player who only ever goes with a bad hand if hes in an all out bluff.
