Vintage Collection Boba Fett Reissue VC09 - Star Wars Action Figure Review

- Welcome to my review of the Vintage Collection reissue Boba Fett (VC09). I was pleased Hasbro re-released this figure as it was one that I passed on when I was trying to collect the whole line carded. I had the VOTC version so left it late, in doing so the price went up and there were always other figures I wanted first. So to get him for under £15 is a bonus, plus we get the photo real face deco.
There are pros and cons about the figure and card back, my main gripe is the bubble is too big. Other collectors will have gripes about the paint scheme on the armour not being correct to The Empire Strikes Back. This doesn't bother me so much, all in all its a decent looking figure.

What a great looking figure. Just preordered the rerelease of this. So glad I can finally get this Boba Fett without the 100% scalper mark up.
This is a great figure to have re-released. I purchased this on eBay a few months ago ended up almost $90 Canadian. Still remember opening the original one on my birthday as a child.

I had one as a kid but don't remember opening it. Not like I remember getting Leia, Chewie, Han etc.
@@BossksBounty Me and my brother had loads of em, Atat scout walkers millenium falcon and boba fett twice. But the arms and legs didnt bend. My little boy is 9 now and boba fett nuts

I'm glad they re-released this figure. They've never gotten Boba Fett entirely correct. Looks like a good sculpted figure though. So to those who customize, have at it!

There are very few figures that any company (1:12 and 3.75") have gotten 100% accurate for any character. I'd say this is arguably the definitive Fett figure out of them all. Imports like Mafex have better paint and articulation, but they have shitty plastic capes. Love the soft goods cape on this and the Black Series. At least the holster and guns are 100% accurate on this figure. Black series didn't even get the holster correct. This version specifically is better than the 1st and 2nd release because of the shorter cape, photo real face, and overall better paint and wash on the helmet and guns.

Not too bad love the way he holds his blaster and that he has a pistol in his back holster looks sweet. But I still love my original toy figure from when I was a kid a long long time ago lol. Great video as always

Cool video. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Funny I had the original Bobba Fett when I was a kid. He wasn't that big of a deal to get when Star Wars started; not as big as getting your hands on Luke Skywalker. Funny how times change.
Yeah he is far more popular these days, even though he had very little screen time. Bit like Bossk I guess! lol
I think the figure looks pretty good!!!!! The card isn't perfect but I wouldn't buy it for the card if I was taking it out of the package!!!!!! Overall I think it looks pretty good!!!! Good review!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

This Boba Fett is a great looking figure. Much like yourself I never had the original VC09 but this is the best looking 3.75 inch we have had of Boba. The fact that this figure was suppose to go with the rest of the Fan Channel wave along with Vader, Han, Luke and Leia was interesting as to why he was held back? Was it for the bigger bubble LOL. It's a great looking figure and happy you have him in your collection. Great Review my friend!
no idea on the bubble size mate, strange decision. Not sure why they held it back either! Perhaps stock wasn't ready in time.

Some places have him for £12.99 - very reasonable in this day and age.
A nice re-issue of VC09, I didn't have the earlier version so really happy to add boba fett to the collection

@@BossksBounty they were going for silly prices on ebay and with the bids, I wanted to get hold of leia and Han too so the reissues have been a blessing for me, so I'm a fan of the reissues and hoping for more in the pipeline 🙏

I have the first VC09 (the VOTC like you) and I did not care for the helmet sculpts of any of those. The Force Link Boba Fett from the two-pack with Bespin Han has the best helmet for the 3 3/4 figures IMHO. I was hoping for a new sculpt for this release. Oh well. Thanks for sharing!
I’m just glad they have re-released the figure. Don’t really care about the differences in the armour or whether it is accurate.
Personally I think the large bubble is so much better than the really thin bubbles they had in the first era of the Vintage Collection. I don’t really understand the problem.

Great review, I only bought one off ebay as been a stressful week and wanted something nice to display out of card, also got one for my bf as he saw the review, had the original back when the vintage collection come out, and was my first vc figure, and loved it, his hand fell off due to rough play, tho was 11 at the time so eh, but no, my favourite figure from then and honestly, if i could walk into a store and walk out with one rn i woulda done but it's hasbro, still trying to get the original one, potf 2 and a few others, have the 2004 one from a 2 pack from 2010 and love that figure, just wish I could find the bossk from 2010 legacy/saga/flimflam main line as passed it up, i was a stupid 11 yr old

Yes, I agree, collectors want one hundred percent accuracy...💯✔ I picked up one of the original TVC figures of him last year for my mint on card collection on eBay for $60.00...👌🏼 But I'd like to get one of these reissues so I can open it and replace the one I have now for my Jabba's Palace display...👍🏼 The current Boba Fett figure that I'm using for display is from the Legacy Collection...👌🏼

It's a cool action figure,but I'm used to Boba Fett looking purple colored. At least that's way Kenner would make the mini action figure. The 12 inch ones always looked more gray colored.
The words "zero effort" and "lazy cash grab" spring to mind , why the fat bubble ! still no foil chase variants or unpunched Available either, the first run vc was Available easily in shops and was still easily got unpunched ! this second run is almost exclusively online and will never see pegs therefore should be Available unpunched but no every single one punched , the incompetence of hasblow is unbelievable , I wont be picking this one up as you probably worked out tim Lol, I have a foil chase first run vc fett and this doesn't compare card,wise , great review tho tim 😁
Yeh I would love the foil variant but its sooo expensive.
incompétence too when they offer that stupid fat bubble and in the same time give info that in 2020 they will stop all plastic bubble and/or Window boxes LOL. i m pretty curious to know how they will do all of that without loosing all the carded figures collectors.
@@BossksBounty I picked one up on Mercari for $30 shipped. Dude had no idea it was rare. It's in such good condition that I sort felt bad lol. It's punched, but doesn't really matter to me. I have an unpunched, painted boot variant, and I don't believe there was a way to get the foil version unpunched since it was only the 1st release "Fett Offer" version that was available foil, and those were all sold in stores, not online.

Would love to see a photo of an unpunched foil chase. I have all 4 versions: 2010 Fett Offer, 2010 Fett Offer foil, 2010 unpunched painted boots, and an 2019 AFA graded U9.0 one. I agree it sucks you can't get them unpunched, but does it really matter?)
I'm pretty sure this one has the correct paint job for Empire Strikes Back... also the second VC 09 that was issued on the Return of the Jedi card is a repaint of the original trilogy collection Boba Fett if I'm correct. The red gauntlets were from Return of the Jedi the Green gauntlets were from Empire Strikes Back....thanks for the great vid as always!, been wanting to see how he looked under his helmet.
I think the markings on his hlemet (under the eyes) are what people are saying is more ROTJ - they are dark green rather than black. I couldn't tell the difference to be honest.

I'll most probably pick this bad boy up, the only Boba fett I've got is the original Kenner version, and he's such a great character I would want him for carded and detailed perposes

I was confused about weather or not this Boba was a reissue or the 1st issue that I own , including the foil variant... well nowadays Hasbro repacks everything to stay relevant with collectors , but an average mom or dad shopping for a star wars gift wouldn't know the difference or care ... soo you sold me again Bossk's Bounty.. I just bought one because I feel obligated to own all variations and spend more money on old ideas...But super great video...
Collectors will feel they need it but as you say a kid will like any Boba you give them.

There are 4 versions of VC Boba. 1st release (Fett Offer) 1st release (Fett Offer foil) 2nd release (painted boots), and this 2019 re-release.
This figure looks nice will try to find one somewhere online, the original 1979 figure was one of my favourite figures as a kid, wish I'd kept him but nvm.
I would really like to get the new Hasbro 6" Boba Fett Comic Con exclusive in the original Kenner colours but the prices online are way too high.

I agree the larger bubble is unnecessary and likely to get damaged easier . The big Disney logo below the VC number I am not a fan of. I do have all the Carded Boba Fett variants with the revised paint apps on the boots and gun. Revenge card also

The VC09 ESB Fett is a different figure from the VC09 ROTJ Fett.,which is the same as the VC Prototype Fett. We were hoping they were going to photo tech T.Morrisons face on him?
All very confusing with all these Fetts, I wasnt that impressed with the photo real on this one. They have done much better

I own a return of the jedi OTC and it’s awesome! The colors of this one doesn’t look accurate. And I also don’t like the removable helmet. Overall It’s a great figure though

Good enough for me! I dont own the original so glad to pick this up to keep on card. Managed to get his 6" SDCC exclusive Kenner inspired bigger brother too from Kapow toys - absolutely wonderful figure!

Last week I got this figure in toys r us (in hk they still have toys r us), I had no idea the helmet was removable!🤣 thanks for the info!
OTOH, I think the helmet sculpt proportions are kinda weird. The visor looks too big and the overall shape was off. For this scale, I think the best sculpt is the Han Solo + Boba Fett 2-Pack.
The 2-pack Fett has worse articulation than this one. It's just the cheapo Galaxy of Adventures Boba.
Say what you want but I’m really happy to have Boba back in a Vintage Collection card back since I missed out on the original VC09. I think he looks fantastic!

I feel that they really could have done ball jointed hips instead of swivel
It's 2019, I don't understand why they don't just throw out the swivel legs, the only issue I can think of is the length of the legs sometimes one leg is a bit shorter, but still this stuff should be managed by QA team

I can't really see the problem with the paint job, the gauntlets should be green and the armour generally less colourful for an Empire Strikes Back Boba.
oh believe me people have an issue with it. I was shocked at how nit-picky people were about it.
Beggers cant be choosy ...im not complaining for the reissue, since i dont have the original. And the second hand market is pricy. But i know a lot of folks are annoyed that they didnt do a a retooling or do a new mold. I don't mind reissues on priceir figures.... I wish hasbro would reissue clone armor kenobi for CW season 7 for 2020. That figure along with ashoka is USD $100+ each.......
Hopefully we get that unreleased Legacy Collection Rex too. It'll be even better if they add his Phase II helmet and pauldron.
I am with you on that, I think reissues which help collectors out is a good thing, same goes for the Gamo Guard
By chance do you know if Hasbro is hiring ? Cause I'm 100% confident I can turn around the 3.75 line of figures and almost double their money, here's part of the secret , stop making the same figures that been made a million times before.
That helmet looks small and droopy looking. Rest is solid, paint issue nonwithstanding
Not a fan of the helmet on this one! It's ok, but if they had used the one that came with the recent 3.75 5 POA twin pack of Boba Fett and Han Solo, it would have been a winner!

These Disney/Hasbro Star Wars cardbacks suck! They only show 6 action figures on the back of each card! If they're going to put an old Kenner logo on the front of the card,they need to show more upcoming action figures on the back just like Kenner would do.
They used to but they have to have all the legal warnings etc, its is a shame. Good job we rarely see the backs I guess.
