    Another way to do it is duplicating the track. And then on the second track delete everything but the word you want delayed. I find it saves time and it's easier

    • @disciplethepoet
      @disciplethepoet ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @stillgotyourmom why would it sound metallic with the same source and the same delay only on a different channel.
      Nope

    • @stillgotyourmom
      @stillgotyourmom ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@disciplethepoet Sure! Cause you have the same frequencies clashing also with hall and echo on its gonna make an unpropper bathtub like sound. No real producer will use the same track to copy paste. Either you take one, around 5 that you pan to the sides too or you take many many tracks that you arrange, cut and edit like for ex Drake they did it with 20 tracks or some singers that are very thin. Never duplicate a track is a rule!

    I Like the compressor trick better because u don't have to use any automation,
    The compressor will just throw the delays in all the gaps and duck out the effect while the lead is playing and it sounds equally to what u just did with the automation

    Another simple way to do this is recording your vocals next to a hangar. Have a mic inside the hangar. Print the lyrics, give them to your assistant. Highlight the last words of the lines. Your assistant opens the hangar door just at the last words and closes right after during recording. Works perfectly.
    Btw I heard you can also use the ducks around the hangar for compression but I don’t know how to train them yet. Next project!

    the beard fits you well sir, thank you for the content I improved a lot from mix to mix song to song, thanks to the information you provided such as "making place for the vocals to fit into the beat" etc. keep it up exposing us the magic of music-engineering

  • @MixingGBP
    @MixingGBP ปีที่แล้ว

    When I want to be in total control of the delay, I'll copy the last word I want to delay for as many times I want to hear it delay (3 or 4 times), then I'll create new tracks for each of those copies and space them out to whatever sounds good, 1/4 beat apart for example or whatever. Then I'll reduce the volume of each region until it sounds like the delay I want from a plugin. There's zero percent chance of bleeding to the next phrase because it is simply copies placed in the space between phrases. I don't always do this due to the extra work, but to my ears, sometimes this is the best way to get that clarity between phrases. Yeah, I know I could get this properly from a plugin or just use one track plus automation to house my delays, but I like the visual aspect of my way.

    Nice video. You can do the same by copying the vox to another track, but it’s critical to remove the copied parts from the main track so no wave cancellation occurres. Both methods are good, it is really how one prefers to work.

    I am new to the channel, I just cant seem to follow this properly. First I just created a second track and went through the steps, but realised you were referring to a SEND. So I then created a send and created a TRACK for the send. Anyway, completely lost and it sounds really weird. When it plays I hear the delay on the end words but it is really noticeable when the automation drops back down. I am a novice attempting to learn, and may need to get your course i think. Great Channel, Hello from AUS. :)
