There are a lot of really good iracing community painters. I painted hundreds of community paints between 2011 and 2015 and was a beta tester when trading paints was rolling out their new site. I still make them but only every now and then and have some Photoshop tutorials on youtube for anyone looking to get into it. At any rate, don't discount a painter on iracing just becaue they don't charge, there's a lot of passion in the painting community

The livery really isnt bad. Yeah, its very simple, but hes not using basic templates, and it does look very realistic for a spec Miata entry as well. Its one of those things where, Id like to have something more fancy myself, but always end up looking at liveries like that and thinking "man thats clean".
Re: the starting issue, the car won't slam shift out of neutral. After the grid timer finishes and the start light graphic appears, shift into 1st with the clutch in.
@@OCRacing This is true of about every car. You want to be in first before the lights go green. In cars with a clutch, hold it in, give it some revs, and release the clutch when the lights go green. You can set up AI racing to practice standing starts.
As a designer I must say its pretty generic and easy to do. On rear we can see that he just outlined the polygons (someone who tried to do liveries knows what I mean) But, since you paid only $15 it looks really clean including that technical task was 100% completed So I think this design definately cost at least $15 I believe that this designer will grow up fast

As soon as you said you got that shifter specifically for the MX-5 I was waiting for the moment when you realize... I went through essentially the same thing, except I had even had it working with a manual shifter and was dumbfounded when all of a sudden the shifter stopped working. I guess lesson learned. Read the flippin' release notes for the updates! I ended up finding the exact thread you were looking at in the video after much cursing and head scratching. Anyway... If you're looking for a car that's got a manual transmission and is pretty fun to drive, the Ford Mustang FR500s fits the bill and the Production Car Challenge is a multi-class series that it's used in weekly. You may end up having to get some tracks if you want to run the whole series, but take a look at it if you're interested in running the Mustang.
Not sure about your career as a sim racer, but you could probably do quite well in the film industry. This is the most entertaining iRacing video I have ever watched, and I’ve watched a lot.
I really like the race footage edits. Also if you need a livery that’s personalized there’s very few people that do it for free. If you’re happy with what’s in the showroom go for it, but trading paints is definitely a must.

I tried to get my H pattern shifter working with the MX5 and found it was sequential. Now, if only Jim from CrewChief tells you "Oh, you're up the wrong way", then we are 3 for 3. I used to paint liveries and they can genuinely take DAYS to complete. $15 for your own personal is not that bad, really. If you one day could spend a little more and get 3-4 different options you might get something really incredible.
If it makes u feel better, there's a series on Iracing that does a full season only in nordschsleife, altho u gotta purchase the other part too, and u can race the miatas there
Great video, I just got my first FFB wheel a few months ago and have been watching ever since. I wanted a new look and totally forgot about Trading Paint. Can we talk about Cameron getting passed, then rear ending you in the turn and going off track while everyones hard braking in front of you. Explains iRacing alot, leave it to the guys who spin out or can't keep lines or adjust accordingly to call you names while they ruin your iRating.
As another fellow racer and somone who has made a few of my own livery for my cars, they are a pain and take some time to make and get just right, I think you got a pretty good livery from there
@@petergriego and if you jump between full numbers you get an extra .5 SR, so if you are 2.9 and you win 0.2 SR in one race, you actually get +0.7 (they want to prevent that you hop back below 2.0 just one race after) - this is also the case downwards by the way.
Your livery is pretty good. When we think about the thing after its done, it could feel it was very easy to do, but of course it would hold you for much more hours on doing it instead of driving in the sim that is the best part :). I believe it was a good investment. Congrats!

Going well dude, iRacing is the place to be, once you get over the cost of it. One thing to look at is your braking, looks like you are going full pedal into the braking zones, are you running load cell? Never really want to be over 75% as those babies will lock up!
Lights go red, push in clutch, put in first, give it gas. Lights go off/green, dump clutch , floor it and go. The amount of gas depends on car. If your tires go up in smoke, you gave it too much. lol
I wish it didn't take an iRacing video to help me find you, but I'm glad it worked. Edit: also the Miata is manual but this model doesn't actually have a shifting lever... It uses paddles. 😬
FYI, you need to have the trading paints downloader running anytime you have the sim running so that the paints for other racers load on your system. Otherwise you just see the boring default paints
Don't feel bad about those starts, happened to me a few times, especially when going to sequential from H-pattern. With H-pattern you can pop it on first and hold the clutch and as soon as the game allows it'll put the gear on. Also, do yourself a favour and try the Formula Vee.
I was wondering why I the H pattern didn't work but I wasn't bothered to look it up. It's been 2 months and I haven't touched IRacing after the first practice session I had with the MX5... but now that my Aiologs Sequential shifter came today, I definitely have a reason to play IRacing again!

This might sound specific but just trying to be helpful: During the race you make a comment about getting back on pole just before that humorous use of the will buxton clip. Pole is only qualifying, if you manage to get in to the lead after the green flag it's not considered getting on pole. Love your videos man

Just so you know, that guy weaving back and forth in front of you is breaking the rules of blocking. You could make a short clip of him swerving back and forth and send in a protest. That type of driving is not tolerated on iRacing.

Honestly that livery is pretty good. More unique than spamming the same 5 liveries onto every car and it has a nice club racing feel.

If you didn't realise the Fanatec shifter is sequential as well, give you more immersion instead of paddle shifters

Perhaps you need to clutch in to engage first lot of racecars with sequential require manual clutch for launches.
