Top 100? I could probably do a top 1,000, born 63 growing up with my folks playing 50/60/70’s music but 70’s definitely my favourite,it brings back memories of those lazy hazy summer days, leave home in the morning, not eating until we got home for tea. I really wish I could go back😢.
I generally only listen to music from the 70's and sometimes the 60's I may dip into the 80s but never beyond that. This is when the singers actually sung without help and played their own instruments. I miss the 70's...the music, the clothes, the tv shows (Soul Train) and especially my family and friends who are no longer here 😢
The 90s were a mixed bag. Early 90s for me was where the great music stopped. It all went downhill when the likes of Oasis and The Spice Girls appeared. I couldn't stand all that Radiohead, Nirvana, REM tripe. People seemed to go euphoric over that stuff as if it gave their life some meaning or something. I dont think it was like that in previous decades. For me the 90s was the era when it became trendy to follow certain bands as if by doing so it made you feel like you were in some kind of exclusive club.
Omg what a sheer nostalgia blast. I was born in 59 and these are the songs that played all through my formative years. It’s funny how so many of them triggered beautiful memories and an innocence that is long gone. How I wish I was back then and without the need to have the knowledge I have today. This was my favourite era for sure.
Why do you feel the knowledge is a bad thing for you. I’m 53 and I’m starting to be sorry I know or have seen so much. I think it makes us very mistrusting of others and scares us away from too many things.
Great soundtrack for the best childhood in the 70's and most fun coming of age in the 80's! Reminds me of family car rides, summer days, school dances and nights at the roller rink. Great memories!
I grew up in the’ ‘70’s and remember every one of these songs. These were the classics and it helped that I have a sister who was a teen then too. Great times I miss!
I was born in 62, I have the best childhood memories of this music. Had all the tiger beat posters on my bedroom wall and the life size poster of the Jackson 5 taped on the end of my bunk bed . ( I had to use my allowance that I got from doing chores around the house to actually buy the magazine .) My parents were members of the Columbia Record Club. Thanks to them, I love John Denver, America, Three dog Night, Seals and Croft, Melanie, the Carpenters, Dr. Hook, Elton John, Jackson 5, Eagles, and sooooo many more musicians. I wish everyone could could experience a childhood in the seventies.
Born in 2005, raised on 70s-90s music. I'm glad my parents raised me like this. Nothing can top this kind of music. And it all has that certain tone/pitch that you can always hear in this kind of music, and that it was makes it so great.
Think about it. Such a change between 1970 and 1973. You can notice the residual 60s folk music feel to the music of the early 70s. I was in high school from 73 to 77 and to me, those years will stick with me most. Thanks for posting.
I spent my pre-teen and teen age years in the 70s. Sooooo much great music of so many genres, radio pop, soul, folk, disco, rock ! Looking back and listening to this makes me glad I was alive for it. I’m 65 now. Thanks for putting this together.
Sooo true for the 70's as a kid and being a teenager in the 80's have givin songs I didn't like then a second chance. Music for me has been unlistenable since the mid 90's till now.
I definitely appreciated it at the time - it was the soundtrack to my growing up, listening booths, radio, TOTP, cassette recordings off Pick of the Pops (Not arf!) and learning all the lyrics (which I still know). Unbeatable. I’m a ‘58 lad and I totally loved the 70s
I was born 26 years ago yesterday and the 60's/70's are my favourite time for music, fashion and overall vibe ever, my family say I was born at the wrong time. I love The Carpenters, Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Melanie Safka, ABBA, Janis Joplin, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Ocean... I could go on forever, thankyou for this!😍💛
Definitely a music child of the 70s (born in 63). One of the best times was every Sunday morning lying in bed listening to American Top 40 with Casey Kasem and going to the local record store to get the weekly charts. Early 70s I relied on a clunky bedside tube radio and mid-70s my awesome Dad bought me a real stereo system which opened up the world of album-oriented music. So many great songs and great memories.
That’s amazing. I always have my dad tell me how life was in the 70s. Sounds so peaceful compared to today, the older generations are really lucky to have been in such a great era, I envy you guys.
@@sarahelo009 Ha ha thank you for the comment, and yes those were special times now firmly planted in the past. Easy to have a sense of envy for for seemingly simpler times. Just remember though, back then there was no internet, no mobile phones, no video tapes or DVDs or Blueray or MP3/4 audio/video, no bit torrent downloads or Netflix. In essence, all of a person's recorded musical experience was limited to radio playlists and vinyl singles and LPs if they could afford them. Kids of today would fall over hyperventilating and having seizures faced with such a bleak existence. ;-)
@@nongthip Yes! My generation needs their phones like a baby needs a pacifier. Oh, but I would trade any crummy tech I have to have been born in the 60s or 70s! @@ellap4235 Agreed with you and Daniel Fronc. ONE song by Rod Stewart and it's "D'ya Think I'm Sexy?"? Where is "Maggie May" or "You're In My Heart"!? And if there was one Who song on here, "Behind Blue Eyes"? PLEASE! What happened to "Baba O'Riley" or "Pinball Wizard? Elton John's only song is "Daniel"? Too many here, but I'll ask about "Your Song", "Bennie & The Jets" and "Crocodile Rock"! And shouldn't the only Fleetwood Mac song on here be from the RUMOURS album!? I'm all for "Rhiannon", but where are "Dreams", "Don't Stop", and "Go Your Own Way"!? Oh, and Supertramp's one song is "Breakfast In America"? What about "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger", and "Long Way Home"? Finally, the one song from Donna Summer is a good one, but what happened to "Last Dance" or "Hot Stuff"?
Born in '85, I grew up in the 1990s. The music was good, but nothing like the 1970s. I'm insanely jealous of those who lived through it. This list of 100 songs is just a snapshot of how diverse, magical and downright brilliant the music was back then. By far my favourite decade in music. Great job on the video!
You might not know it but everywhere you went was seriously hung in cigarette smoke. Speed limit was 55 and there were just a few TV stations they all went off air after Johnny Carson.
Born in 65! No need to be jealous, the 90's had great music artistry too with new genres, bands and styles. Even the 00's had good music up to about 09........ What has the last decade given us? Industry made music , purely for profit ; realiity tv musicians that have the longevity of about a year and awful homemade rap from influencers and TH-cam personalities. Be glad you were born in the Golden age (1955-2000) of music when everything was beautiful and new.
Born in the 50's, grew up in the 60's and 70's. I remember all of these songs when they first came out, (WOW) I am getting old, loved them then and still do today, I must like them, I have 99 out of the 100 in my music library. One thing about growing up in that era was ALL THE INCREDIBLE MUSIC we had, songs from the 60's, even the 50's and the 70's. Listening to the radio was awesome, if you found a good station, because they were playing hit after hit, after hit, after hit, after hit all day long, it was GREAT. Thank goodness I have a pretty extensive music library, I would say from 1955 until 1990 I probably have about 97 or 98% of all the Billboard top 100 songs along with MANY others hits that did not reach number one, but were still great songs, so I am very fortunate and blessed that I can listen to all these AWESOME songs anytime I want to.
Right on Greg, you sound alot like me, use to listen to WKBW-am in the 60's, and then in the 70's went over to FM....still have my records....and I especially love the not so great hits, like you say, they played them on the radio, but they weren't top 10, but still great, I notice MusicChoice Cable TV, sometimes plays alot of the lesser known haven't heard in years tunes.....love 'em.
Went thru high school in the 70's . This music with good friends hanging out makes me feel sorry for what kids have to listen to today,no soul in today's music.
Very disagreeable. Again what you’re doing is basing your point off of nostalgia and entitlement. And believe or not, there is still soul and emotion in today’s music. But it probably isn’t your taste. It doesn’t mean it’s bad.
True ,,, I am Rock so i see rock is excuded here as Sabbath ,,Zep ,,, & Ronnie James Dio . My friend and i were about 14 years old when his older brother @ Calif.State Berkley called frantic and said """you have to see a concert coming to Boise next week .!! You must ."" So we did. Bought tickets and not heard of the band . My town then was backwoods country kinda .. The venue had a capacity for several thousand but only a couple hundred of us showed up ,,we all stood on floor front of the stage .Now Even though this band saw that the hall was nearly empty they still played 2 Full Hours for us there . The concert could have been easily canceled..And The Bands Name ? . . . Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention . lol. . wow . : ) Man whatta guy to do that ,, play two hours for us then . . . Frank Zappa was such a good man in many many ways : )

Diane your mum is awesome 🙂, i think one of the best gifts I've given my 5 kids throughout their childhood was a wide of music from classical to thrash metal. 🙂
That is great, you are blessed to grow up listening to these classics. We have 4 grown sons, and 9 teenage grandsons, we raised our sons to appreciate these old classics also, and we also, are pleased, that are grandchildren also enjoy listening to these old classics, we are a music loving family. My wife and I, we always listened to music when our sons were growing up, and music was played when our grandsons were visiting. You have a wonderful mom. God bless you all.
You are so right . The music was truly diverse! That’s what made the 70’s so special . Only the 70’s could have an R&B /Soul singer put out a instrumental song…with disco vibes…played by a complete orchestra..that becomes the theme music for the PGA and the epitome of elevator music! Best era of music ever!
I always feel a hint of sadness with a lot of music from the 70s. I think because that was my childhood and wish I could go back and live it all again, making better decisions in life hopefully.
I was born in 72 but remember very well the music of those days and going roller skating etc. In the 70's all the music was good like Rock, heavy rock, Pop even the country in the 70's was good. There was not any music I did not like. Music of 70's and 80's was the best of all times and there will never be good music like in those days.
Thanks for posting. I was born in 1969. With older brothers and sisters, I was fortunate to listen to the 70s hits on TV and radio. People ask me why I am a happy person. It is because of the 1970s songs I listened to were promoting happiness and kindness. My favourite songs were "Up, up, up in a puff of smoke by Polly Brown", 'Sing' by the Carpenters, Tie a yellow ribbon by Tony Orlando and Dawn", "From New York to LA by Patsy Gallant", 'Rubber bullets by 10CC. Some Girls by Racey and an Australian song here called "Girls on the avenue by Richard Clapton". The greatest music era of all time.
We were naive kids. Plenty of kids are happy today, too. Probably the biggest difference between my childhood and my kids' is that I played outside, unsupervised, all the time. Summer break? I'd come in for dinner and maybe for lunch if I didn't eat at a friend's house. But other than that, I was basically outside - down the street, across the neighborhood, or even in other neighborhoods from 4th grade on. Don't get me wrong, we played video games and watched TV sometimes, too. But I was 5 shades darker and my hair was bleached by the sun. And I didn't know much about what was going on in the world. I was around when my parents watched the news. But I didn't care enough to pay attention, let alone think about it. My kids are much better informed, and we don't watch the news. 😂
@@robertallan6373 You should be proud of it but when you actually get out of your house you will see kids.Kids that are happy.Yes they exist. You are not that special. The songs you listened back then are,not you.
@@Ray_TheRebel Of course the songs are not me or anyone, but they are a part of me, a part of my programming as a human being, as my identity, just as everything else we experience is a accumulation of who we are.
This could be 1000 songs easily. The 70's was when hard rock, punk and disco started. The Beatles just broke up, Elvis was still alive and so many great songs were written worldwide. Yes, I was a teenager in the 70's.
70s really was the best even if disco became little bit too big, among hits there where rock, disco, punk, soul, ballads, all kinds of music. Hip hop/rap I think was created at the end too.

I am so glad I got to experience three of the best decades of music. The 70's for sure, the 80's and 90's!
Don't forget 60's
60's, 70's
Anything before 2000 awesome after junk
Lucky
The 90s were a mixed bag. Early 90s for me was where the great music stopped. It all went downhill when the likes of Oasis and The Spice Girls appeared. I couldn't stand all that Radiohead, Nirvana, REM tripe. People seemed to go euphoric over that stuff as if it gave their life some meaning or something. I dont think it was like that in previous decades. For me the 90s was the era when it became trendy to follow certain bands as if by doing so it made you feel like you were in some kind of exclusive club.
Proud to be a child of the 70s best times ever!!!!!!
Amazing, the food the ice cream, everything was better than this chemical shite.
Hello! how are you doing today?
Omg what a sheer nostalgia blast. I was born in 59 and these are the songs that played all through my formative years. It’s funny how so many of them triggered beautiful memories and an innocence that is long gone. How I wish I was back then and without the need to have the knowledge I have today. This was my favourite era for sure.
Why do you feel the knowledge is a bad thing for you. I’m 53 and I’m starting to be sorry I know or have seen so much. I think it makes us very mistrusting of others and scares us away from too many things.
I'm 1959 too.
1959! My peeps.
Me too...being born in 1959 led to the greatest teenage years in the 1970s. I miss those days and would go back in a heart beat.
I was born in 1959 also..loved growing up in the 70s teenage years was amazing
I am a kid again, born in 1962 love ❤️ 😍 💖 anything between 60's to the 90's. I can understand every word that is being sung. Except Rod Stewart
I’ve just gone to heaven. Now I can look up these greats individually and listen to my favourites. Thanks for compilation
Great soundtrack for the best childhood in the 70's and most fun coming of age in the 80's! Reminds me of family car rides, summer days, school dances and nights at the roller rink. Great memories!
Hi Rutilia, How are you doing?

Hello! how are you doing today?
I grew up in the’ ‘70’s and remember every one of these songs. These were the classics and it helped that I have a sister who was a teen then too. Great times I miss!
I listen to this, and suddenly I'm a kid again. Thank you
I grew up on these songs! So many memories! I'm a child of the 70s!
The best of times!
Best decade for music for sure. We are NOT beliebers! We have taste!

These were the good old days takes me back we all listen to old songs for our old memories
Hello! how are you doing today?
Born in 2005, raised on 70s-90s music. I'm glad my parents raised me like this. Nothing can top this kind of music. And it all has that certain tone/pitch that you can always hear in this kind of music, and that it was makes it so great.
Fantastic collection to listen to over and over again! Really takes me back
I'm just 16 and I just love those songs! I feel like I've lived in the 70s. Best decade of music 💗💗
No surprise how many titles were covered in the 90s and 2000's. Quality music never will die.
Such great tunes and such good times we had!😊❤😊
Love these songs we grew up with...so many memories😄
Think about it. Such a change between 1970 and 1973. You can notice the residual 60s folk music feel to the music of the early 70s. I was in high school from 73 to 77 and to me, those years will stick with me most. Thanks for posting.
I spent my pre-teen and teen age years in the 70s.
Sooooo much great music of so many genres, radio pop, soul, folk, disco, rock !
Looking back and listening to this makes me glad I was alive for it. I’m 65 now.
Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks, this is a fraction of the best decade of music,my kids and grandkids love the 70’s
Growing up in the 70's, you maybe didn't appreciate all the music around at the time but listening to it now...... you certainly do. Brilliant.
Sooo true for the 70's as a kid and being a teenager in the 80's have givin songs I didn't like then a second chance. Music for me has been unlistenable since the mid 90's till now.
i did !
Ian hinds but _I_ did appreciate the songs! Just because you didn’t, don’t tar us all with the same brush!
Here here!
Great collection. Boney M really bring back the memories for me! ❤
I grew up in the 70s. I’ll go back any time
Hello! how are you doing today?
It’s quite emotional listening to these songs. Bringing back memories of my youth when all was well in my world
Thank you for the trip down memory lane....
I could go on forever, thankyou for this!😍💛
You have excellent taste in music, happy birthday for a month or so ago, keep listening to all those sounds you love. All the very best. 👍

@@DarrylSmith1968 Im A 1965 model and I had 3 older sisters so I knew 95% of the songs. I probably had 30% of them on 45s.

Born in 71. Fantastic music in 70’s and 80’s agreed
I'm from 71 too

So many memories!
I feel like it's made people so anti-social and cynical. I only need to have some good tunes, a fishing boat, and my family to enjoy life (maybe I can even take my record player on the boat, listen to ELO and George Harrison, that's on my bucket list for the future! :)
@@sarahelo009 A particular thing I remember from a George Harrison song, "All Things Must Pass". Each generation should deeply appreciate what they have, and then eventually let it move on to what's next...

@@nongthip I love that album! He’s my favorite solo artist, and wrote a lot of songs that helped me realize the bigger picture in life. Despite my negative outlook on today’s era, I’ve met so many lovely people through the internet, like yourself! And I’m just grateful to have the family I have. It’s the person who makes the era worth living in, right?!
Amazingly, this list didn't even scratch the surface.
Ya' got that right. I was thinking the same. And if I was going to put an Eagles tune on the list it'd certainly be Hotel California.
Seriously! "Calypso" by John Denver?? What about "Rocky Mountain High" or "Take Me Home Country Roads"?
@@danielfronc4304 As well as "Desperado", "Take It Easy" and "Heartache Tonight"!
@@ellap4235 "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh!
Born 1961, am one of those lucky kids. Oh to grow up with the best music ever (60s and 70s).🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
999998% agree

Thankfully we were spoiled for choice ❤ great compilation, thanks. My life just passed in front of my eyes.
Boy that brought back about a million memories, thank you
Went thru high school in the 70's .
For 11 minutes I was transported back to my childhood thank you
Definitely remember most of these songs growing up in the 70s,one of my favorite decades
Karen Carpenter had the most beautiful voice in this decade, voice that is very often excluded in lists of best female vocals.
Indeed.
True ,,, I am Rock so i see rock is excuded here as Sabbath ,,Zep ,,, & Ronnie James Dio . But whats funny is a friend saw my music collections and playlists ,,most all hard rock .. , then he laughed when he saw The Carpenters was there too . Miss Carpenter was some kinda angel i guess . Yes she is truly loved by many . A Voice of an Angel i agree
I think Karen has the most beautiful voice of all time.
@@ethermusic4455 Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Carpenters, all excellent music in my opinion, and Karen's voice is something special.
Z.W. so cool this story >> i live in Boise .population 25,000 at the time , Circa 1974 about...

Impressed. I could not do as well for 100 songs from the '30's! Not even close. Come to think of it not sure I can even name a song from then. Respect!
Diane your mum is awesome 🙂, i think one of the best gifts I've given my 5 kids throughout their childhood was a wide of music from classical to thrash metal. 🙂

These songs bring back So many great memories. Thank you 😊
No wonder we were much happier back then than today's kids.
ok boomer
@@Ray_TheRebel Yep and proud of it, I do feel sorry for you though.
Sad to think most are gone now, greatest music ever sadly never to return.
This could be 1000 songs easily. The 70's was when hard rock, punk and disco started. The Beatles just broke up, Elvis was still alive and so many great songs were written worldwide. Yes, I was a teenager in the 70's.
I remember the day elvis died, the lady across the road was heartbroken 💔 Norma Brown.
70s really was the best even if disco became little bit too big, among hits there where rock, disco, punk, soul, ballads, all kinds of music. Hip hop/rap I think was created at the end too.
