I got this set as a companion to my Ducati Panigale and honestly I really like both of them. It is bizarre how they compare and how relatively different they are. In terms of functions they are basically the same - 2 speed gearbox, working steering wheel and front and rear suspension, the notable difference being the kickstand for the Kawasaki as comared to Ducati's paddock stand. The Ducati really amazed me by what can be accomplished with purely Technic build... well there are a total of 5, if memory serves, non-Technic parts = two katanas, two clear round 1x1 tiles and one 2x3 tile, all attached via Technic elements. Meanwhile, Kawasaki is much less hesitant of using System parts, and they pop up in quite a few places, but to a good effort. There's a noticeable increase in detail, with things like brake handles, footrests and more detailed seat being included on the Kawasaki, but probably the most important difference in terms of parts is a new windshield piece used in place of Ducati's vinyl windshield. It also does away with the rubber band powered gear shifter mechanism. On the other hand, the Kawasaki is noticeably more hollow, which is probably due to its inline 4 engine as compared Ducati's V4. While you could fairly easily fit a V4 engine inside a frame of a motorcycle in this scale using the classic 2x4 cylinder bricks, it wouldn't be possible with inline engine, as it would immediately make the bike way wider. That's most likely why they switched to a smaller sized new 1x1 pistons and complementary crankwheels. The resulting engine works well and is visible when handling the model, both of which are good things, but it is also quite noticeably tiny and leaves quite a bit of empty space within the bike. That's probably why they decided to skip perhaps the most obscure function that the Ducati had - the quick release bodywork panels, which let you display the bike with exposed internals - you cannot really do that easily with the Kawasaki and even if you do, I'm afraid the model won't look as presentable in its "naked" form. Still, I ended up modifying my Ducati after getting it, giving the fairing more complete shape, filling some gaps, improving the seat area and also, perhaps most importantly, giving it a front brake caliper and fender. The Kawasaki, has got all these upgrades, except the front brake caliper and front fender, out of the box, so I guess it shows overall evolution of this line. Line that, I'd say, is more interesting than the big 1:5 motorcycles, not only Ducati and Kawasaki have basically the same functions in smaller form, they are about 1/3 the price of their larger brethren and seem both much more playable and much sturdier, with the BMW M1000RR and Yamaha MT10 SP feeling at home really only when mounted on their stands. I'm still going to look for a way of adding the front brakes and fender to my Kawasaki, though, but I feel it is the only upgrade it needs. I don't like the Batcycle personally. It is accurate to the movie version, but even the movie version I find simply ugly.
Also, I figured out a simple way to reduce the wobble on the brickbuild part of the gas tank. Just use a spare 1l tube piece on the front pin of the 2x2 modified plate with two pins on the bottom.
@@adrianbarbour5098 Tried it twice, first time I had problems fitting it in, the second time it went in perfectly. I had one other person saying that my solution worked for them. The benefit is that i have wanted to make a boxer engine but the lego piston parts are too big. The older fake engines would not come back because they wouldn’t fall down. So this allows the piston to come back and forth

Wow. I only have the Batcycle, but the pistons in this... Amazing. Thank you for this kind of review. The transmission works just like my real life Honda: clicks in first, clicks in neutral, no sound from neutral to second. :D
@RacingBrick, i seem to recall the ducatti launching at €55, not €70, that price came from the price hikes a year or two back. Generally speaking, im not a big fan of the new engine parts, they are still not a proper representation of the real thing, and if it leads to price madness like this... If i find this set cheap enough i might buy it and convert it to a 2 cylinder with the proper engine bits.

Very true. You can get the All Terrain Vehicle for the same price and you get more functions, better engine and better gearbox. But I still kinda like this motorcycle because it looks quite cool.
omg finally, this was so hyped up for the motorcycle enthusiasts like me. I love it no matter what, the price kinda um increased compared to the ducati, so I'll have to save up for later maybe bricklink is a better option
As much as I enjoy the scale of these bikes, this one looks insanely intermediate next to the others. The gear box looks to have a better functionality than the previous two bikes though the new engine solution isn't much of an improvement over wither the pushrod or piston driven engines. Bike looks fantastic though and nice to see a better windshield piece for this scale. Looking forward to the space set reviews.
I JUST finished building this set. I did not have any problems with the gearbox changing throughout the gears, though when shifting upwards, it gets stuck a little bit. I think you might have made a mistake.
I added some engine grease on the + shaped gear shifting mechanism (the same stuff I use on my real Kawasaki motorcycle) and it shifts WAY smoother now.
I think these new engine parts will solve issues of the old style either sticking in place or not falling back down due to friction but as some have mentioned the lack of noise is a detracting point for them
Thanks. Ordered mine yesterday. I collect Technic motorcycles and have all of them. In the standard scale the Ducati is the best one although that might change once the Kawasaki arrives. The batcycle whilst well done was pretty boring. The previous Batpod was a much more visually impressive model.
I have Ducati and got Kawasaki yesterday. To me they are both equally great. Kawasaki has this great kick-stand, much, much better than the stand for Ducati. Enjoy your build when it arrives!
Of the three recent small motorcycles, I only have the Ducati, but I really enjoy it for it's gearbox. I was excited for this set upon seeing it would have a similar gearbox, but to me it looks a bit too wonky compared to the old solution. I think I agree that this motorcycle looks better, but I will probably wait a bit before picking it up.
It's a nice model and certainly fits in with the rest of the Technic bikes that we have had at this scale. However, I do wish that they had made more of the engine. Afterall the fact that the H2R is supercharged was always one of the big marketing points of the bike and it doesn't really get much mention here.
I had to get it! Interestingly it even has parts made to look like the supercharger and supercharger intake. Weirdly the pistons move in a crossplane configuration, which I'm pretty sure it's wrong
The new engine parts feel awfully specific, I don’t get why they didn’t use the old cam pieces with axles as pistons, or maybe the recent 3L frictionless pins.
I believe they added these parts instead of using old cam pieces with axles since the axle pistons don't work when at an angle and cars sit upright but motorcycles usually lean and the engine wont work if they added axles since the axles will be floating causing the engine to not work.
3:19 That L-part in the stepper mechanism isn't meant to get pushed down. It should be pushed upwards with each gear change. Fix that and the stepper works fine.
@@RacingBrickThe stepper is just there for resistance, so how it moves is irrelevant to gear changing. But the problem you show in the video only occurs because that L-beam is wrongly getting pushed downwards. This might be due to the alignment of the flexible rubber bit on the other side, but if you adjust it so the L-part only moves upwards when gear-changing in either direction, it all works perfectly.
I have trouble shifting from first gear into neutral. The knob gear is supposed to push down the lift arm, but instead it usually just runs into it and won't budge. Occasionally it pushes down the arm as intended. Okay I removed and re-attached the rubber piece and now it works better.
Seems like there's quite a bit of friction with those new engine pieces? Feels a bit like a solution for a problem that didn't really exist. That said, I can imagine the pieces being used for ather applications where gravity alone wouldn't do the trick. Overall a decent model, and I might get it as a companion to my Ducati (which I liked much more than I expected), but it doesn't seem to be an improvement over that one.
Add some scrapes to the fairings on that bike and it would match the 250 Ninja rode by someone I knew that laid it down from a wind incident. This crotch rocket prostate checker does have the typical 4 banger inline engine that most sports bikes have. I would like a sound block instead of a Batmobile light brick. Now that I think about it, why not add a lime green light to the bike and add a sound block for the engine RPM exhaust note? That would be neat. It looks like they used a cam shaft for a crank shaft. Oh well. Those clicking engines actually make a sound that almost sounds like the firings of the spark plugs of the real deal, with a little imagination. LOL I did buy this set, and I own the BMW 1:5 and the Yamaha 1:5. I ride the 1:1 bikes, cruisers, no sport models. I don't mind building the sports bikes. I own the Ducati and I've built the Batcycle, and I am honestly confused as to why you prefer the Batcycle. The Ducati was a landmark in that it was the first Technic motorcycle ever to have a gearbox, and the fact that they left it out of the Batcycle felt unfair. To me, the Ducati is the most satisfying Technic motorcycle ever built. I also own the BMW M1000RR, but I find myself returning to the Ducati when I get that building itch because it's technically challenging with some delightful functionality, without being overwhelming.
This set seems pretty disappointing. However I am excited for more Kawasaki licensed sets. Hopefully they will make a Kawasaki dirt bike out of system peices.
If they can put a proper gearbox in this, why can't they do it in that huge Mercedes F1 car? Anyway I didn't know this set was going to be a thing, but it looks like one I might want to pick up. I'm not hugely into motorcycles but Lego motorcycles are fun, and I really liked my Lego BMW motorcycle set from a few years back, as well as my Vespa sets. Been wanting another Technic set with a transmission as well, and I'm curious about those new engine pieces.
The transmission in this set is actually bad. It jams when it doesn't need to and if you test the Kawasaki, sometimes 1st gear will cause the wheel to somewhat get stuck. Although they definitely can fit one into the Mercedes, I think its because of costs and laziness.
It really bothers me that the engine is incorrect... either they got it wrong and you followed them, or you just got it wrong 😂😭 piston 1 &4 should be up when 2&3 are down and vice versa
@@RacingBrick yea, the manual is horribly incorrect on the accuracy of the engine. From left to right, (in any facing direction) it should be up, down, down, up. Just something I noticed and I'd fix myself if I got one😂
For those who don’t know, the H2R is THE piss missile sport bike. Surprised they didn’t make it in the scale of the M1000RR with how famous this bike is, but I don’t mind the lower price point over something like that. I honestly love how it came together, but wish there weren’t so many exposed red/blue/yellow pieces throughout the model. When will Lego use color matching pegs🤦🏻♂️ as an impulse purchase, now I have to find a place to put it in my very overcrowded Lego collection
Hmm, it looks good but this range of Technic motorbike sets has just become far too expensive now. It's particularly awkward when the older but much larger Technic sets can be had for not much more than this Kawasaki set these days. It does feel a lot like the new pieces were introduced deliberately to avoid the feeling of déjà vu from the Ducati set in terms of the build process. I still have the Ducati and I'm still happy with that; I've not gone for the Batcycle due to lack of interest, but that is currently almost HALF the price of the Kawasaki set in the UK which is absolute steal by comparison. As long as you like the look of it of course!
I don't see how these new pistons make sense because you could never transfer the movement the other way around like in a real motor, from the pistons to the wheel and axel. So it seems a lot more gimmicky.
I'm still not a fan of these bogus solutions for small engines. The cam itself might be interesting, but with only 1/2 stud difference between top dead center and bottom dead center, maybe not.
I believe such a famous bike with the title of superbike deserved a far more large scale build with more detail. Much alike the M1000-RR. certainly not worth $80
I have a Ducatti bike and I think, that new Kawasaki is just another bike in this scale - nothing more. Gearbox - the same. Suspension - the same. Wheels - the same. Engine? I prefer classic one on Ducatti. Windsreen? Ok, Kawasaki won here. But Ducatti has a nice easter egg with samurai blades :-)
Honestly I think this set might be the weakest of the vehicle sets in March. The new pistons are pretty interesting, but i still prefer Ducati way more.
I find this new trend of replacing proper crankshafts, pistons and cylinders with some tiny cams and axles really lame and cheap from Lego. Are we supposed to believe some yellow pins moving up and down on cams represent an engine?
I don't think there's a problem with this until it is done with existing LEGO pieces. There were no proper pistons, rods and cams for small-scale vehicles, so there was an approximation with small beams, the old large cam piece, axles with stop or pins. LEGO is always a simplification of real-life mechanisms, if they use what they have in the inventory to replicate a function then it is fine. But the new parts don't make the small-scale engines more realistic at all, the only benefit is having moving "pistons" if they are placed sideways or upside down, I don't think either that can be called a real progress.
@@RacingBrickYeap, I would rather they build a 1 or 2 cylinder engine in the same place with proper cylinders (like my old 8422 motorcycle) instead of a 4 piston engine out of axles, and I wouldn't care even if the real bike has 4 cylinders. They can't claim they try to be realistic by implementing the original engine layout, when each cylinder is just an axle moving up and down. They have been doing this even in large models where there is no space constraints, like the Tow Truck or the Land Rover Defender.
I don't think the price is justified, and someone is going to tell me that's the price for the new molds. My response: the new parts aren't worth it. The new circular parts are not in system so it'll be a nightmare dealing with them, the new pistons don't offer much more realism than any previously used representation, and while the windscreen is actually cool, it won't be used ever again for any other model because of the specificity of the shape. All in all, it's a good set, it has all that you need for a technic motorcycle at this scale, but the price is way too high, I'd take it for 60 max, 50 is OK...
I have the ducati and I also got the kawasaki but I it is not as good as the ducati in my opinion not worth and the price is a killind machine Whoever has the ducati just dont buy the kawasaki
I thought it's technically just a Panigale in another colour, but it's absolutely different snd now i'm gonna buy it. Ps I've bought Panigale for 35$ 2 years ago. Prices have increased so bad for this 2 years... ☹️
Love motorbikes... This is ridiculous... Looks ugly. Most Chinese sets looks better. Lego is really disappointing. Price is ridiculous too. This "thing" is not an h2r... Is a bike that crushed against a wall...even Panigale was ugly...prefer set without licenses if these are the results..

That's not what the manual says :)
@@RacingBrick yea, the manual is horribly incorrect on the accuracy of the engine.
From left to right, (in any facing direction) it should be up, down, down, up.
Just something I noticed and I'd fix myself if I got one😂
to be honest why do they keep adding colorful random pieces, it literally looks like I build the bike out of my spare pieces
No Harley?
For those who don’t know, the H2R is THE piss missile sport bike. Surprised they didn’t make it in the scale of the M1000RR with how famous this bike is, but I don’t mind the lower price point over something like that. I honestly love how it came together, but wish there weren’t so many exposed red/blue/yellow pieces throughout the model. When will Lego use color matching pegs🤦🏻♂️ as an impulse purchase, now I have to find a place to put it in my very overcrowded Lego collection
The new colour Lambo is here🎉
Hmm, it looks good but this range of Technic motorbike sets has just become far too expensive now.
400km/h are Production Bike World Record - 0-400 km/h in 26 sec
Kenan Sofuoglu / Osman Gazi Bridge -TURKEY 30.06.2016
No one ever really shows the bmw r1200 gsa next to the new ones
Needs brake calipers.
Why why why there needs to be a front mud guard this and the Ducati look bear and open.😢
Finally ❤
They should have this kind of windshield on the ducati. I sold it just because of that stupid windshield "holding" by 2 swords.
I don't see how these new pistons make sense because you could never transfer the movement the other way around like in a real motor, from the pistons to the wheel and axel. So it seems a lot more gimmicky.
I was literally about to sleep then this video pops up
Literally??
Good
I'm still not a fan of these bogus solutions for small engines.
The cam itself might be interesting, but with only 1/2 stud difference between top dead center and bottom dead center, maybe not.
Good pick for sale price, 80€ is too much imo
I believe such a famous bike with the title of superbike deserved a far more large scale build with more detail. Much alike the M1000-RR. certainly not worth $80
And It Should Have Had A Front Fender. Lego Keeps On Denying They Exist At This Scale
But Ducatti has a nice easter egg with samurai blades :-)
who knows the average time taken to complete the building for a guy ?
Balash can you do me a favour and sort out that black spot on your table. I keep trying to wipe it off my iPad. Ta
It’s my birthday today
Happy Birthday!
@@RacingBrick thank you
Honestly I think this set might be the weakest of the vehicle sets in March. The new pistons are pretty interesting, but i still prefer Ducati way more.
this may be the closest to owning an H2R that I’ll ever be 😅
Spoilt again by having no front mudguard 🙄 You forgot the BMW 1200gs which is the same scale
Yayy
I think I like the BMW bike better.
I mean, it's not really comparable as the BMW bike is drastically larger and drastically more costly than this.
@@AHYL88Yeah fair point. Maybe that's why....
im watching max verstappen pull away
Annoying that the gear selector is still effectively facing backwards.
The only improvement this kit has is the paper bag
I think the one from cogo is better. The green part of it is IDENTICLE to the real one.😅😅😅😂
For this set, i would pay 30$, fine, but 80? Tf
vroom
Its too small... they should have made it as big as the BMW and i would have bought it instantly
Ducati >>>>> is more functional and it has a good engine
Kawasaki...
hello
yoooo
the old ducati looks better lol
