This happens more than you'd think. I grew up with a stepdad who was the only father I'd even known. When I was 15 I came home from school and found my mom crying on the couch. She told me she'd just been diagnosed with cervical cancer and my stepdad wanted us out of his house. That'll mess you up in the head real quick.
This is beyond disgusting. I hope OP gets better, and the FIL was right for what he did. With Isaac's excuse for being forced by his MIL... If that were the case, why didn't he move in with FIL? That makes no sense. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you", as they say, and both MIL and Isaac bit FIL's hand until he swiped. FIL is a hero here. I would've done the same thing he did. Not much disgusts me more than a spouse who abandons their mate because they get very sick. You know who does that sort of thing? Narcissists! They love only themselves. There is a man here whose wife got deathly ill for months and spent a lot of time in the hospital. While she was so sick and at her lowest, he got involved with another woman - who was also married. They divorced their spouses and married each other. I knew the woman and she was about as narcissistic as they come. They were the talk of the town for quite a while. The other thing that sickened me was that people didn't shun them. Because they were counted among the elites, they seemed to be accepted even though people talked about them behind their backs. Idk why anyone would give them the time of day, which to me seemed like their stamp of approval. People like the ones in this story are disgusting.

I believe this story, my ex-cousin-in-law delivered divorce papers to my cousin while she was in excruciating pain (the unfortunate results of treatment and pain medications being counterproductive to each other). My uncle paid for the best and most ruthless lawyers that money could buy. That fact, a long with fact my aunt was the daughter of a highly popular influential former judge in the region that mentored and supported a great many of the, then current, legal professionals in the region, in my uncle's words "reamed that scumbucket and will continue to do so until he is dead and forgotten." Sadly, my cousin, uncle, and aunt have all passed away now, but they were great people. I know the ex had to pay until she passed and that it destroyed his fortune, career, and reputation and forced him to move very far away.
You are so right. It is so difficult watching someone you love fighting this horrific disease. Unfortunately I had to watch my husband succumb to cancer the MIL and Isaac are horrible excuses for human beings if that’s what they’re supposed to be.

Moving the tv to the bedroom for someone with cancer could have been a kind gesture, but the MIL ruined any chance of that interpretation by laughing and turned her statement into another jab hinting at poor prognosis and no hope., which then became a cruelty towards someone dealing with such serious health issues and the emotions that go with it.

i know a few people who went threw similar shit and getting away from the stress and into a supportive environments for them to start to actually get better.. in one case he was told he had 9mo... its been over 2 decades, when his kids found out why their parent broke up and what mom did to dad.. she lost her kids, they refuse to talk to her, infact the state ended up forcing her to give up primary custody as the kids wouldnt speak to her at all and kept doing shit that caused her to call the cops on her own kids... (petty shit that pissed her off)... what really f-ed with his ex and her horrible mother was that her sister moved in with her ex before the kids got her so mad she kept calling the cops on them... when she found out her sister was taking her place as her kids mother figure.. omg she lost her shit so bad she ended up in jail... the ex-mil was shocked when she found out her husband and her ex bought a house... she was pissed, when the ex's found out what house they bought... well both wanted to live in that house "forever"... the owner actually made them a lease to own deal for less then market value after hearing what went down, the owner hated the ex-wife due to decades of harassment... they went to school togather... mans still alive and ended up having several more kids with his wifes yongest sister.. whos.. like a younger, cuter, and mirror opposite of her sister in values... cheating aint ok, neither is abandoning a loved one when shit goes south... oh, dad ended up getting with one of his ex's friends who had tried to tip him off that his ex spent decades cheating on him, to the ex's ire, this gals less then half the ex's age.. they became "friends" due to work and family social connections, the gal admits she was always into older men.. and felt bad for him, more and more fell for him because of how she saw him treat his family despite how bad the wife treated him... to his face and behind his back... when the divorce went to court it was infact, over 30hrs of recordings of the ex talking shit about her husband and family the gal recorded and submitted that ensured the ex ended up on the losing end of the prenup her and her family insisted on... LOL
