I am a huge fan of Johnny walker godfather of radio and tony Blackburn no one ever replace them Johnny walker I am really going to miss him he is such a brave man for what he is going and his family
Mate that was a brilliant tribute and broadcast by yourself too buddy… thank you for sharing those very special moments with us. I think I may go and tape JW show onto my Sony RR tale recorder from BBC sounds before it disappears.. very moving to hear Johnny he sounded very emotional and who wouldn’t be. Those of us who were alive in these last 5 or 6 decades were very fortunate
My mother told me apparently in the 60s when I was in my high chair in the kitchen mum used to have Radio 1 on and she said the only one I used to bang a rhythm to in the high chair to was the Johnnie Walker show 📻🎶⭐️⭐️ 👶 keep well Johnnie 🤞
so sad he was great i loved his shows so very much i have listen to him for yesrs i have his book too he all so raced stock car racing too what a legend
Hemming 49 and yes his interviews are legendary. The book is so good. He was very different to many 1969s DJs . They would agree. In many ways he was a music producer
tinge of sadness listening to this today, tilly up north, not ashamed to admit i did shed a tear or two😪 lets see what whispering bob harris will do with the show, 😁another legend in his own rite,
i remember the lady kent boat, taking day trips to see radio caroline, and radio london, from a breakwater at walton on naze .listening to johnnie walker doing his evening show, with the flashing headlights in frinton,Johnnie walker playing, duane eddy because theyre young his signature tune, brilliant times.
I remember Johnnie from pirate radio days. I made a point of listening as much as I could back then and refused to listen to Radio 1 for years afterwards. If my memory serves me correctly, Johnnie did a special show the day after Otis Redding died.
Roger "Twiggy" Day is still doing a daily show on Boom Radio, he started his pirate radio career on the same day as Johnnie Walker on Swinging Radio England..
So I believe. Ridger is amazing. Sadly I am work at that time. This video was documenting jonnys last broadcast. It was amazing he ended on Caroline. Brought a tear to my eye
18:18 Stevie Womder Mr Know It All the sort of music I remember first time around that Johnny used to play…. Ahh I’m going to miss him, definatly one of my favourite DJs ever.
Thank you Johnnie Walker for all the entertainment you brought us over the years, Sunday's won't be the at 3pm to 5pm, Happy retirement God bless. Its sad now the only decent D.J on the radio is Tony Blackburn and we know the brilliant Bob Harris will do a great job from next Sunday on Sounds of the 70's but it wont be the same without the brilliant Johnnie Walker.
