    Speed Rating (Maximum Speed)
    S - 180 km/hT - 190 km/h
    U - 200 km/h
    H - 210 km/hV - 240 km/hW - 270 km/hY - 300 km/hZ - 240 km/h +
    Tread Wear
    The tread wear grade is essentially how soft the rubber is. It can range anywhere from 30 for a set of very sticky racing tires, to 500+ for tires that are hard and specifically designed for highway use.
    Traction
    A tire’s ability to stop on wet asphalt. Ratings can be given as AA, A, B, or C. A ‘C’ tire will provide less traction as a ‘A’ tire.
    PROPER TIRE INFLATION
    To make sure you have your tires pumped to the correct PSI, don’t look at your tires, look at the tire placard found in the driver’s side door jamb. It will indicate what your tires should be inflated to.
    If you you have any questions regarding the video, you know what to do. Thanks for watching!! :)

    Do certain tire brands have sharper shoulders than others (a more "square" tire)? Or is it just the fitment of the tire width and aspect ratio on a certain wheel width (to manipulate the shape of the "bulge")?

    It's good to pay attention to the DOT manufacture date(along with the other specs) when buying new tires to make sure you aren't getting old stock. Tire rubber starts to degrade over time with exposure to the elements, and if you don't put a lot of miles on your car the rubber in your tires can deteriorate well before the tread wears down. If you notice a retailer trying to sell you a tire with a DOT date older than a year, you may want to ask for newer stock.

    I own a 1998 Bmw 323is (e36) coupe, I have purchased the same TSW wheels! I'm curious to what tire size you would suggest? I obviously don't want to rub nor buy the wrong size tire and have to sell the tires and buy new ones cause that will be a hell of a task. My car has stock suspension and no over fenders. The car is rear wheel drive and I believe I may need 10 mil spacers in the rear . Most likely stretched tires as well. Please let me know if you can point me in the right direction and thanks for posting these two wheel related videos I learned a lot in the rim video and this video had some useful bits too but much less lol. This one was a tiny bit boring. No offense loved your plastidip texture vid too

There is an arrow on the sidewall that tells you the direction of rotation. Non -directional tires can be rotated in a X pattern

    Not a minute into this video and it's already incorrect! The 225 is not the tread pattern width, it is the tire's overall width: from side wall to side wall. They each have their advantages but, a rounded side wall tire will have less tread width than a straight walled tire of the same size. I don't have the truck here with me, but we have a truck that has 255s that have a wider contact patch than the 265s I have for it. Back when touring tires came out they had quite a bit more tread width than the rounded side walls of the standard tires.

    • @benjaminbuljevic7977
      @benjaminbuljevic7977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      if youre unsure about it you should just stay with the pressure you had before, but usually you will find that with a bigger tire you can get away with more pressure and therefore less rolling resistance because you have more rubber on the street

    I think extra load means the tire is reinforces.... For instance ,if the tire has 4 ply and it's extra load that means it has en extra ply. It could be extra ply of rubber, wire or wherever they used. In other words it's thicker then a non extra load tire

    • @jackiechan_wtf4041
      @jackiechan_wtf4041 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always consult a wheel and tire expert on what size is best suited for your car. But word of advice, never use a tire that can't handle the load of the car (load index) especially if you pile gear and passengers into it.

    • @albertpapikyants
      @albertpapikyants 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your not sure, just put 30-35 psi until you find out the actual recommend psi for the tire. 30-35 will never harm the tire

    I just want to point one issue; in the beginning (th-cam.com/video/iZ7jUs-6lTo/w-d-xo.html), the information related to width (225 mm) measured not at the contact area (tread) of the tire but the widest point of the tire which is sides (cross section) in this case.

    • @albertpapikyants
      @albertpapikyants 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you want to go lower or bigger, you will have to get wider or smaller rim size.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will probably be able to run a 255 in the rear, but if the rim is a different size from front to rear, the tire might look funny / it might not be the proper circumference and your speedometer will be off.

      And have your tire blow out while driving? Just leave them be, not worth it bud.

    My car has an anti theft lock nut and I lost the key. What should I do?

    • @JamesLikesDonuts
      @JamesLikesDonuts 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I lost mine too, you can probably buy a new key or just go to a tire place and have them break it and get a regular one that's the same as the others on your tire.

      It is also a speed rating, meaning the tire is rated for 240+ km/h, but is irrelevant because of the Y rating, which means its rated for 300 km/h.

    Hey Milan,
    What if I changed my stock wheels from 14" to 16"
    Do I still follow the tire pressure stated in my owners manual?
    P.S ... I love your videos!

      Use the recommended tire pressure stated for your new tires from the manufacturer

      +Devindran Rajasingam yes. Tires vary from one manufacturer to another. Go with whatever your new tire manufacturer recommends

      i dont agree, the reason why is because you should use the owners manual as different cars have different weight distribution. so my car has 59% front and 39% rear.. so my manual says: 39 psi Front, 36 psi Rear. some cars have 50% 50% weight and use 32/32. it all depends on the car not the tire it self. 5:57 in this video.

    The sticker in your door jam is not for the tire you showed. Beyond that, I have always contended that you should run tire pressures recommended by tire manufacturer not vehicle manufacturer. Vehicle manufacturer takes in consideration ride quality. That's why Ford almost killed Firestone tires because they were recommending a lower pressure than Firestone on Explorer's that were having blowouts and rolling over. Several people were killed because of Ford's stupidity. I have the stock size tires on my pickup and run the max tire pressure marked on the TIRE. Always check pressures cold. Maybe a slightly harsher ride but better wear and MPG.

    You skipped Z in ZR. What does it mean? People dont trust these numbers and when you skip it it convoluts the validaty of all your videos. No pun intedend. I respect the rest of the info though.

    Every time I get new set of Tires they inflate the tires by the tires manufacturer instead of what the car manufacturers said on the Sticker on the driver side door that make me mad 😡 because they are not known about what the car manufacturers Recommend they don’t know what they are going.
