    I also go over tire sizing, how to pick the correct offset, along with a lot more.

  • @Spectt84
    @Spectt84 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Im not being smart ass, seriously just curious. But is there any benefit of running a "staggered setup" on a front wheel drive honda? Maybe to keep the ass from swinging out in extreme cornering??.. I never thought of it like that, I always assumed the benefit of wider tires is for traction on your drive tires.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well because you can run a larger wheel in the back, you can run a larger tire, meaning more grip and control in high speed turns. It prevents the back end from stepping out. The main reason why people do staggered is when they have a RWD vehicle and wanna put the power down without spinning

    • @anthonygonsalves7020
      @anthonygonsalves7020 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On any front wheel drive car, no, there's no benefit to it. It's purely for looks (which is perfectly fine). Milan mentioned "...you can run a larger wheel in the back, you can run a larger tire [in the back], meaning more grip and control in high speed turns." which is true for RWD vehicles, but not necessarily for FWD, as that can contribute to understeer. Front wheels need more traction than rear in FWD vehicles (as you mentioned, Spectt).

    • @jinxedjuno
      @jinxedjuno 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's useful for drag racing, just like the big drag builds use tiny front tires, they do the opposite for fwd so they get more grip in the front

      Offset is the position of the mounting surface in relation of the width of the tire. It's typically measured in millimeters. Let's say you have a 8in side wheel with an offset of 0, the mounting surface is going to be in the middle of the wheel, if it's a +25, it's going to be stick in an inch more, but -25 will stick out an inch further. He explained offset wrong anyway, go back to 12:00. When you add a spacer, you reduce the offset (he was supposed to subtract the 25, not add it).

      @taiquality7988 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Ohana Yes, you will be fine. Plus sizing by 2 would be more of a harsher ride, but as far as the dynamics of your vehicle, you would have no issues except hitting bumps.

    I tried the tire calculator, I've been looking at wheels that have the tire size 225/60r17 and my stock ones are 205/60r16. It shows that It would be off by 0.32 mph or 3.62 kmph, and the variance Is at 4.12%. The offset of my car Is 55mm positive I believe since the wheel Is basically flat at the face and the other one Is 45mm but the face Isn't flat and It's 1 inch wider. So does that mean that I can't buy the new rims?

    Can you help me here please, what is more convenient for me in this case?
    Honda Fit Shuttle 2012, comes with tyres 185/60 R 15 originally.
    I swapped around with the older car I'm selling because those tyres are new, being 185/65 R14. So my question is, which of these two different tyres are going to be more efficient in fuel and power for my car?
    185/60 R 15 (Stock, original)
    185/65 R 14 (The ones from my older car, I just want these only because they are newer, but if not efficient I'd just let them go selling the older car).

I have 2007 Toyota Camry XLE v6 all i want to do is wide tires the factory size is 215/60 R16 . i want to replace the tire to 235/55 R16 OR R17 ? any suggestion that Camry already will take to up 19 or 20 inch rims 235/45 R19 but i knew that passing 17 inch rim it will be uncomfortable and is going to be annoying driving over bumps . what i don't understand why 235 would work on a 19 OR 20 rims but it wont work on 17 OR 16 inch Rims ?! all Costume Tirs websites they say they don't guarantee fit when i chose 235/55 R16 Or 17 inch Rims .. should i be concern ?! i would final my concern so 0.08% diameter variance and speed variance -0.08% .. that does seems to be safe would you Agree ? .. forgive my question but you seems to know what you doing unlike those guys at tire Rack !!

    I understood most of what you said, so thank you. I'm against these stupid thin tires and I hate how my 2015 Explorer Limited 4x4 looks (and rides) with the thin 20s and I want to change them to 18s (the other OEM size) but not sure if that is a wise idea, and I think Explorer looks nicer with 18s. My mileage is 102K so I'm out of warranty anyway. Should I go with 18s? Will the ride be smoother? Thin tires don't ride as smooth.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Basam! If you switch to 18" wheels, you will have a smoother, quieter ride, and tires will also be cheaper. If you have 20's right now, your tires can be the same width, but the aspect ratio needs to be larger.
      Lets say it was a 255/45R20, you might have to change it to a 255/55R18. Those aren't the real tire sizes, but the middle number has to be larger so the overall circumference of the new tire is as close as possible to the original size.

  • @nismoman420
    @nismoman420 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Diameter, not circumference. Another good point to note is wider tires provide better grip yes, but more grip = more friction. More friction = worse gas mileage. It's all a trade off.

    so I bought a 2007 ford explorer xlt with P235/70 16R tires but the door sticker says it came with P245/65 17R does this affect anything on the car and I'm trying to get new rims and tires what does suggest I should get?

    • @onlyifusayplz5407
      @onlyifusayplz5407 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't affect much, no. A very little bit however. Your original rims(235/70 16r) have a 16 inch rim, and a 70 mm sidewall.(the distance between the rim and the edge of the tire) You now have 17 inch rims, which are 2.5 cm bigger in diameter. Your sidewalls are .5 cm smaller in diameter than the original ones, so 1 cm on both sides. This means the p245/65 17R set of wheels are about 1.5 cm bigger in diameter than the ones fitted currently.

    Hello. Quick question.
    I have my stock wheels and tires. Wheel: 5.5x15 / Tire: 185x60 R15.
    I’m about to change my wheels into 6.5x15 offset +38.
    My factory recommended tire pressure is Front 32psi and back 30psi.
    Question is... After changing my wheels, will my tire pressure change as well?
    Thank you in advance. 😊
