I have heard a lot of things about this device. I heard some say that the Wii2HDMI adapter does not go full 1080p instead it's stuck in a 4:3 box. If you set it on widescreen, it will not go full widescreen and instead remain at 4:3. I also heard that in order to get it to full widescreen you have to set your tv manually to do that every single time. I saw a lot of reviews say that the device is broken and unreliable. It has sound issues, it's not true 1080p, it doesn't upscale the games, and that it breaks all the time causing the wii to flicker and glitch at random. On your video, at 9:25, you set the wii to HDTV 480p, and it then at 9:28 it became full widescreen. Did the device do that and did you have to set the tv manually to get it to fill the screen. Hope you can give me more information on this thing. Thanks.
I don’t recommend this hdmi converter. I had one and it had wavy scan lines that are so distracting. Buy the hyperkin or there’s another converter that uses your existing component cables to converter, to hdmi that’s excellent. Like a switch box.
Hey, if your having that issue you may want to try a different HDMI Cable to rule that out as a possible problem. If it still doesn't work try this cable as its a direct connection: www.amazon.com/dp/B072K2DCFM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_0XWW6Y043YXGQBXYVZSA Hope this helps!
Does the audio crackle? I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying that it had audio issues or delayed inputs. I still ordered it anyway, I’m just waiting for it to arrive
Haven't experienced any audio crackle in this specific one, or any issues really. Works just as it would with the original cables, the only thing you need to do is set the resolution. Hope this helps!
I was wondering if you could please help me with this new issue. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. I have a new flat screen smart TV 📺and I'm using a Wii Hdmi converter because the newer TV's don't have the old school plug in cords in the back. When I try to run virtual console injections off of my SD card, they won't boot but will boot with the old school plugs using a older TV. Please help 🙏
If your having trouble especially with a samsung monitor and it says "not optimum mode. optimum mode 1080 by 1920" or something like that then the fix is to get another tv which supports the wii, go into the wii's settings, resolution, and change it from 420i (the default) to 420p and it should work (atleast that was the only fix I found).
the wii is too outdated for most modern routers but if you have a phone with hotspot you can use that or you can get a ethernet adapter (I use one called the UGREEN ethernet adapter)
Since you have the ports for the Component Cables (With the Red Green and Blue), you can just buy them. Also there’s the Hyperkin HDMI Cable for the Wii, it’s much higher quality than the Wii2HDMI Adapter.
Hey, thanks so much for commenting this! I never knew that a cable like the Hyperkin one even existed, I literally just added it to my cart lol. The Component Cable was just more money than I was willing to spend at the time as I wanted to by the Nintendo brand one, and also because I didn't plan on keeping that TV forever. Thanks so much!
I tried to do this on 2 different brand TVs and it worked but, I was have it trouble connecting it to my Samsung monitor and I’m still troubleshooting. It keeps saying on the screen that the connecting is not optimum 60Hz 1080p
I'm trying to set my wii up to a roku tcl smart t.v. and can't get any results. Got adaptor but after plugging it in the wii is just flashing and not connecting to my t.v. What am I still going wrong??
Hey, you will need to connect either headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm jack right next to the HDMI Port and then you will be able to hear sound. Hope this helps!
Hey will this work on connecting to a sm8600pua lg tv?because with the Norma component cables it is really grainy so I wanted to buy this so yea, will it work on the tv?
@@maxcool6946 seeing as component is analog this could purely be an issue with the build quality of your cables, have tried any other analog cables on that tv and do they produce the same result?
Hi there, I bought a similar wii to hdmi converter (basically the same, really good and a lot of reviews aswell). It works fine but I cant get the audio to work. The signal goes from my wii > converter > HDMI cable > capture card input, then from the capture card output to my monitor(without speakers). So I also have a male male aux jack running from the converter to my PC's line in. Still I'm not getting any sound, would you know how to solve this?
Hi, in order to get sound in the event you don't have a monitor with speakers you will need to use the aux cable for sound directly to a speaker. When you connect that cable to your computers speaker port it (which is typically an audio out port) its not able to receive signal but only able to give a signal. Hope this helps!
I would try switching the resolution on the console from 4:3 to 16:9. Even if its on 16:9 already, switch it to 4:3 apply the settings and then go back in again and switch it to 16:9. I had to do this with mine and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps!
@@ReggieTECH my convertor doesn't work at all.. tried all hdmi 1 , 2 and hdmi 3... Didn't show anything.. tried different wires.... Maybe it was a dud....
You could have just used the standard cables. The yellow would go in the green port and audio would go in their standard ports. But hey you got better quality now so that's good. Also the green blue and red video ports are for component video but the green often doubles as a composite input.
imo the half green half yellow rca jack should be a standard, there have been so many times i've taken a quick glance at a TVs io and went "darn this wont accept composite". a disclaimer for situations where the component would not moonlight as composite, you will know (usually a grayscaled image on screen or none at all)

I have been spending hours try to resurrect my wii. Your video was fun to watch and I'm ordering the converter from your site. Thanks so much.
By the way, not all Wii2HDMI adapters are the exact same and have various issues depending on your luck when you buy one
you could hook yellow to green (CVBS/Y) for future knowledge on your tv (I saw the screenshot)
CVBS is another term for composite which is the yellow
Have you done this? And had it work? I'm asking because I'm having that initial hookup issue that was in the video

I tried doing that on my tv, but it still didn't work. I wonder if it doesn't do it to big tv screens but it will work for the smaller ones
