      A 3 cylinder engine is smooth as it is naturally balanced, no need two have two balancer shafts that run counter clockwise to the crankshaft to eliminate vibration. GM knows all about building engines without balancer shafts. Back in the Roger and me era when accountants ran engineering their first engine that had two intake and two exhaust valves was a disaster. And they shook something terrible.

      @@observant98 GM actually got their small engine prowness from Asian cars (look up who they bought....) But still, far better than others like you said. And, enough if not more power than you need in a vehicle this size with well under 8 second zero to 60, AND over 30 MPG.

  • @inspector13jjf
    @inspector13jjf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A correction on some of your information of the older model Encores in your comparison. Buick had a Sport Touring model of the Encore starting in 2017 which had the option for a 153hp 1.4L turbo engine. This engine was also available on trims higher than the Sport Touring as well.

    • @4vickiekaye
      @4vickiekaye 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the 2016 and now the 2019 Sport Touring version and both Encores had the 153 hp motor. Obviously I like the car and that engine option was only $250 more. I believe it was an option on the Preferred in 2019. Buick in their "wisdom" is not offering the 153HP motor in the 2020 model. Still better than a 3 cylinder and CVT in my opinion.

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree. They can keep it for China since they love Buick. Otherwise, get rid of it here and everywhere else. Especially since a lot of our Buicks are Opel remakes, and Opel is no longer GM. When the current models get updated over at Opel, Buick will no longer have them. The money saved not having Buick can go into making Chevy and Cadillac better. While they're at it, they can get rid of GMC too since they're just rebadged Chevy trucks. That money saved can go into making Chevy and Cadillac better too! GM is still spread too thin making their overall lineup very blah.

    • @johnhenry267

      Buick sells more than Acura/Infinti/Lincoln in the US. They wont be going anywhere anytime soon because of profit margins. The Enclave is one of the best selling premium suv's in the US that makes a lot of money for GM. It would be foolish to get rid of Buick that sells more than 200,000 vehicles a year in the US at a premium price.

    Why would I want this instead of the "regular" Encore with basically the same engine performance options? (in terms of HP and Torque) I have the 4 cyl 153 HP 177 Ft-Lb torque engine. Why would I want a 3-cylinder engine? Why would I want a CVT? The 2019 Encore has a 6 speed automatic. 9 speed option I suppose is "better", more complicated and if this is GM's first 9 speed, that could be "problematic".

    I love that you state right out of the box the Egg Like look of Buick CUV's.. The biggest Turn-off of ALL Buick CUV's (Buick does NOT make any SUV's) is their Egg Like look.
    My wife wanted a new CUV. Her 2012 SRX was getting long on miles. We looked at and drove numerous CUV's from various companies. As we were in this process a younger colleague of hers had just bought a 2020 Equinox Premier 2LZ. They went to lunch together and my wife really liked that CUV.
    We test drove one, loaded, no sunroof. A feature she has had in so many vehicles she has never ever used. She was sold on the Equinox Premier 2LZ immediately. I intended to buy her a XT4. She declined. Telling me let's save the money. I'm very happy with this car. I really like this car! She's happy. I'm happy. My wallet is happy too. Win. Win. Win.

    My first issue is with the old fashioned incandescent turn signals on an ALL-NEW 2020 upper-end trim vehicle, combined with LED. We HAVE the technology to do 100% LED! Next is the ST badging. That's been known to FORD, same as GT (of late, used on new Challengers. They should've stayed in their own Court & called them "Challenger Rallye").Next is calling this vehicle , "Encore" as you said, it deserves a different name. Why can't BUICK resist naming every Crossover starting with "En_ ".. I don't get it?

      PSA Peugeot Citroen and General Motorsplanned to use EMP2 platform for several vehicles, developed under the short lived PSA-GM alliance.[3][4] In March 2017, PSA agreed to buy Vauxhall/Opel from General Motors. Now they should've just put a regular sunroof in the this vehicoe because it only reaches halfway through the vehicles so it honestly is just a waste of roof space, but we all have our own opinions.

    I really do not want a CUV but this and the Chevy Blazer and the trailblazer are attractive and seem promising. Going into the interior materials, I will say the GM has improved and I will not fault them for some cheap plastics here and there like you did because I have been looking at other cars because I am in the market for a new one and they all seem to have the same quality. For example right now it looks like I will be going tobiy a Honda Civic and I noticed that though the interior looks nice, the interior quality isn't consistent. Seeing that Buick is a entry level luxury or middle grade status vehicle company, I am gonna not doing them for the interior plastics because it still looks good. As for the engine, I am interested in how the top end 3 cylinder turbo performs because the numbers are similar to the the 1.4T that was in the Cruze and older Encore and for what that engine was, it was decent and adequate.

      95% of folks sell their used vehicle before 80K, so what's your point? Any CVT will need major maintenance in today's cars (many have them) by 100K. These are the cheap end cars, and never intended to go over 100K without consideration. What folks that own any vehicle over 100K doesn't tell you is the money they spent after 100K miles (very few but notable exceptions, though lots are liers.) Anyway, the majority who buy this one will get the 9 speed auto anyway. So your point is?????
