The 'don't walk under a ladder' one makes perfect sense... if you're walking under a ladder and whoever's up it drops something, it'll land on your head.

I'm the furthest thing from superstitious. I spill about a pound of salt each month, I break glasses all the time, I walk under a ladder every time I walk into my work, my neighbor has a black cat that likes to walk by my house all the time, if superstitions were real I'd be dead.

Not necessarily true; there are many factors, these superstitions are REAL.

If a blackbird enters your house (thru the chimney or vent), 3 deaths are coming up (family and/or friends) within a few months. Same thing if a blackbirds nests in your tree. This really did happen three times in my life. Crazy but true.

I have roots of puerto rico, connecticut n vermont. So over the years i remember sayings like: dont sweep after midnight or the devil will come, everything back then referred to him for almost anything, like. If you point a knife at someone while talking n cooking they would say: dont temp the devil lol. If something never happened to you , you would pretend to knock on wood, as a good luck charm. You would make the sign of the cross and say something like: forgive me ( if talking about the dead)the crossing of the cross is so you can be forgiven. Lol, some people still do these things.

But what if black kats don't cross your path? You cross theirs! (Smile). Yes, late great maternal grandmother once told me of black bird superstition. She was multi-ethnic, including black & native American. If bird enters house, circles 3 times, someone was gonna die. She also once said death passes 3 times over a woman during childbirth. Don't know if she really believed this.
