the story of Jephtah is supposed to be a warning that you shouldn't make careless oaths, but that's kind of admitting that they're just stories and not actual historic accounts... and if they're just stories, that makes it a bit difficult to read the bible and make a clear distinction between what's supposed to be just a story and what's supposed to be the truth, even god himself could be a metaphor, just a kind of a boogyman to scare the children and make them obedient.

Teaching children murder,s OK if the person has a different religion and living in the land the invisible boogey man gave you ,and he loves the smell of cooked human .

@@justinporter458 they say christianity is supposed to make all this old testament stuff better, but the bottom line of the gospels is a child that gets sacrificed... and mysogyny at its best, Maria became pregnant and only after that some angel told her it had happened, that's the bible's writers idea of consent... I guess the whole idea is to brainwash parents into sending their children to the army so they can expand the empire for the leading classes.

It’s a revolting book, for so many reasons, when read fully.
‘Cherry picking’, (the apologists’ necessity) is such an apt expression, especially when the majority of the tree is so poisonous.

It never seems to occur to the likes of jws, (etc) that using a contrived god as an excuse, is no different to the badge on a german uniform, that claimed ‘god is with us’.
