This happened in 2022, the boy survived and the officer recieved a medal of valor for his heroism. Edit: both the officers got medals. No idea what happened entirely but the boy grabbed a downed electrical line and that's when he's found in the middle of the road. Haven't seen an update since.
@@forwarddrive4066 right after yall got the bodycam thing pushed and noticed that itll catch officers doing good as well as bad. Now all the sudden body cams are a bad thing lmfao. There is something wrong with your brain
As a former EMT, the screams may be awful to listen to but man, they're a wonderful noise, because you know your patient has an airway and he's breathing 💔
I was thinking 'there's no way his brain will be okay after that' and then he started screaming like that. It's messed up. Hopefully I'm wrong about these assumption
For non-electricians that don’t understand the video: 1) The transmission line a few feet above the street was most likely around 7200v or 12470v if shocked phase to phase. Since there’s only one line, the boy was shocked at the lower 7200v. At much higher voltages, he would most likely have fingers or a hand blown off by the arc. 2) This line does not need to be touched to shock you. It may arc, or reach out and touch you like lightning, if you come within about 2.88 inches of it. 3) The arc most likely saved the boys life by blowing him off, preventing him from latching onto the line, as evidenced by the hand burn. He most likely has burns on his feet as well where the circuit was completely. The electricity flowed in through his grounded feet and exited to the wire. 4) Once he was on the ground, he was safe. The damage had been done. The police officer was also safe being a couple feet below the wire. He was not shocked in the video. He was charged with adrenaline and jumpy. There was no actual shock to the officer. 5) An electrician could easily have done what the officer did with no fear since we can assess the danger here is low. However, for the officer to do what he did without even knowing he really was quite safe if extraordinary.
You can see a hole burned/melted in the side of his left sock when he's getting loaded into the vehicle- hand to foot, and whatever the electricity injured on the way.
Very solid and useful info. i've had to jump downed lines during a tornado before, so is it possible if i had gotten within 2.88 inches of them I may have gotten zapped?
That cop didnt take any longer than 5seconds to think and decided his life was worth risking for this young boy. I got nothing but respect for this officer.
All cops decided their life was worth risking even the ones that think they can do something outside of the law. The only differences between cops and civilians are training and permission to conduct what needs to be done. Something cop haters often forget they are human they are both good and bad just like everyone else but they made it their job in our society. I agree with what you said just extending it to everyone with or without a badge that goes above and beyond.

As a pediatric ICU nurse, that was really hard to watch. The way he was crying, that's called a neuro cry. Those police officers, especially the one that put his life on the line, are heroes 👏 🙌 ❤❤👏👍👍🙌
@@mikeabbitt8309that’s completely false. snoring doesn’t necessarily mean a blocked airway. and even then, he had a pulse and was breathing; so why is there a need to perform CPR?? they laid him in best of a position as they could, given he had a backpack on. his face was blurred, so we don’t know if his eyes were opened and moving or not. you can’t rely on EMS to be there. if there is a hospital within driving distance, which for the officers, seemed to only be about 5 minutes, then there is zero use waiting 10 minutes for an ambulance, waiting another 5 to get him loaded on, and then another 5 to drive there. all that does is waste time in which the child could be seen by doctors and nurses with adequate facilities.
I've been in law enforcement for over 30 years, and I promise you that dealing with injured and deceased children is tough. It gets no easier with time. Gotta love and protect the babies!!❤

The cop risked being electrocuted too when he grabbed him because electricity can be transmitted though touch.
I know some people might think it's horrible to hear the child screaming but trust me, as an EMT it's music to our ears. It means that they are breathing, and their airway is not compromised. Glad these officers were there to help him and transport him to get medical help.
It just makes this kind of work extra tough. Definitely hard to not bring it home for everyone involved. Even though he was screaming he might have severe brain damage based on the burns to his head 😭. Might have survived but there might be nothing left 😭

Does anyone know the name of the officer? I feel like as a society we are really quick to judge cops for bad behavior, but we don't reward the good cops. Positive reinforcement
Agreed, but when it comes to kids I'll do anything. we swore an oath. Gotta hold the firemen's prayer near and dear to us. It would have taken way too long to get a power company out there to shut it down and save him. At the end of the day he did what he had to do.
@VendettahHelsing CASIVAC - Casualty Evacuation, MEDEVAC - Medical Evacuation. Basically, cops didn't wait for a medical vehicle to arrive, just put the boy in the back of a patrol car and went to the hospital.
An officer lost his job recently for transporting a 2 year old burn victim to the ER in his police car. Which is the saddest thing for such a hero. When someone goes above and beyond for our children, they deserve respect .
Yeah I thought there was some kind of gas in the air like fentanyl or something. Now I’m seeing burns on the boys head and hands like something exploded? What happen?
He wasn't conscious. That snoring is called 'agonal breathing'. There's a reason he was screaming without saying anything (plus being unconscious for many minutes straight while struggling to breathe properly). He wasn't close to fully conscious, that's just brain + cardiac injuries making respond in automatic ways. He's got brain damage now + heart and kidney failure and went through cardiac arrest in the hospital. Thankfully he's at home with his family, but it was definitely severe life changing injuries. But hopefully the only pain he consciously felt was after he'd been treated in hospital.
No, it's what it means to be a good person. I'm pretty anti government, but cops like this give me some hope that there's a few good people still in government. Not many, but this guy's a shining example of one.
@@tedkaczynskiamericanhero3916 Most cops are like this. If presented with a situation where they can help someone like this 99% of cops would do the same thing. @@js2sgamer951To be entirely fair, I think there’s more than 1% of cops that abuse the system - or at least, passively take part or let abuse slide in the system in the Us. However yes, I think it’s sad that so many people get caught in these circlejerks of watching this abuse and assume its the full story. Some cops, at the very least, joined because they wanted to help protect the community. Some would put their lives on the line to protect people, and go through horrible abuse on a daily basis to do so. The ACAB narrative has always seemed unfairly prejudicial to me, and a bit sad. Just because there IS corruption doesn’t mean you should assume every single person in the force is taking part in it. They aren’t a hive mind. they’re people like us, and yes, the system allows a lot of shit through, and it might need changing, but there’s no reason to project that, without question, onto every single person working as a cop.
I love how he said “I gotta get him, right?” But he literally wasn’t asking anyone but himself and he knew it, nobody said anything and he answered in his own head “obviously!” Exemplary example of a good human being right here
Isn't it kind of mindblowing? We got to hear someone do what we do everyday and yet barely notice. We heard him ask his soul for wisdom. We got to see a man check in with Destiny itself and make the decision to take a leap of faith, to choose to be on the side of Life.
This was the comment I was looking for, honestly not a fan of most cops but this man is a gem of a human. More cops like this and my issues with them go away
Man, those few seconds he's standing there looking at that horrible situation. Followed by that deep sigh and then just deciding "I gotta get him." Can't be easy. Respect!

Officer running his hands through his hair was a beautiful thing to see. A fathers love with a child hurt. Mad respect for that officer risking his life to grab him. ❤❤❤ I see a lot of heated comments. If you read my sentence correctly. A fathers love is a word to describe how a man shows love to a child. Doesn’t have to mean he is a parent. Just as a woman who shows love to a child despite having kids of her own. Be kind to one another. This about the love a stranger showed a child he never met, in a fatherly way.
Any parent instinct Or like other guy said…dont need to have kids to be a hero with a big heart. I have none, but I would still risk myself to save someone else’s, bc no kid deserves that
Everyone with a heart feels that, parent or not. When you see someone in danger, and it hits even harder when you see a child or an animal, an elderly person in need or danger-anyone vulnerable-your basic instincts take over your whole body. It hits for ANYONE, vulnerable person or not, if I see another person in danger or needing help I don’t care who you are , you’re a fellow human who needs help. You just spring into action before you even realize what you’re doing. Even writing this makes my chest fill with that feeling thinking about the people I’ve had to treat in the past when I did medical at different large events and festivals. No one talks about how at any festival or event over 3k where there’s drinking or drugs you have one death every time.. always , always, always a seizure from drug overdose. Always a seizure … Alcohol poisoning sometimes too… those ones usually we can get to the hospital in time…
All the officers piling into a single squad car with the boy to take him to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance is absolutely legendary. Props!
yeah except if he was in a deadly arrhythmia and delayed defibrillation could have cost him his life. They should have taken him to meet ALS capable paramedics on the way to the hospital not to mention the pain and torture this child went throug while not recoeving pain and memory management. But i get what they were thinking.
Yeah wait like 45 minutes for an ambo, dispatchers would treat these kinds of call as non priority since the kid was breathing - and not as much critical priority as someone who is in cardiac arrest, so yeah it was a good call for officers to rush him to the hospital. Even though the officer's actions were extremely dangerous and he put his own life at risk as well. Now I would like to know how the fuck something like that happened and who is liable to get sued for all they got - city ? why was power not cut off - events like these are extreme emergencies, and calls for a crew to come and cut power. For high voltage lines you can get electrocuted within around 33 feet
@@jimmydandy9364that’s actually not true. Systems typically have tiers for priority vs non priority. Priority being code 3 and the other code 2. Code three runs are Code 3 Runs regardless of nature. Just because he’s breathing does not mean they would divert a unit for a cardiac arrest UNLESS the cardiac arrest (or any other priority call) was closer to that responding unit than the original call.
It was the right thing to do for this call, seconds count. That being said, it was also a horrible risk the first two who grabbed the kid took and unfortunately I highly doubt that the kid survived or would not be in a vegetative state. I say this as a first responder. This video should also come with strong graphic warnings, censoring the kids face alone is not sufficient.
His injuries were so severe. He had burns on his hands, head, back and feet. When he began to scream, I felt so much relief. That meant his breathing was working better and he was becoming aware.I am glad the officers did a scoop and run to get him to the hospital faster. Bless that child and I pray his injuries are healing and he is mentally healing. Those officers put themselves on the line to save him. Electricity is such a fearsome thing.
I was going to note the same about the screams being a bitter sweet sign of progress. The silence in the beginning and then gargling was more scary. Not saying I wish that pain on anyone but his responses towards it in the car were a better sign. Hope he can fully recover

once the screams started, I already knew if that happened to me I would've done the same thing if I was that young. Tho, tbh I was actually electrocuted a couple years ago. @@Funkyfuhrer123So the cop was getting electrocuted how then? Because he touched the ground, that's it? Stop being so ignorant and commenting when you clearly have no clue what you're even talking about...
THAT IS NOT THE SOUND OF BREATH YOU MORONS. not until he is screaming in agony by a true miracle no thanks to these idiot cops . There are soooo many things wrong here. This is one of those feel good civil servant stories that departments run with for good publicity. I'm not taking anything away from what the cops did, it was in deed a dangerous situation, but we simply don't give them the training they need! 1. That boy is NOT breathing. Multiple cops say "he's breathing' They report to the dispatcher that he's breathing. He is NOT breathing or snoring. He is agonal breathing which means his brain is being injured due to a lack of oxygen and it's a reflex. It's the bodies last ditch effort to get oxygen to the brain Someone in agonal breathing is VERY close to death. People in agonal breathing often are in cardiac arrest, or suffered a stroke, drowning. suffocation, electrocution, drug overdose... What they needed to do was check for a pulse and start CPR and/or ventilations. The fact that he came out of agonal breathing on his own is a miracle. . Police shouldn't transport. Now I don't know what the EMS response time is in that area, but in most cities with an EMS system it is better to wait for EMS than transport in a police cruiser. Usually patients die in the cruiser on the way to the hospital. The news says it took them 4 minutes to get to the hospital. The ambulance probably could have gotten to the scene in under 4 minutes and started medical intervention sooner. Also if the patient goes into arrest on the way to the hospital in the back of an ambulance they have medical equipment. Oxygen, D-fib, medications, etc. The police cruiser has none of that. You can't even perform CPR in a cop car Police should almost NEVER transport a patient. 3. This took place at the corner of Charlotte and Sharrow streets. Check out Google street view. In the video the wire is four feet off the floor running from the white sign on the right to possibly the porch of the red house on the left. You can clearly see the wire in contrast with the white house on the left. Also if you look past the white sign on the right you can see the parking lot is also taped off with caution tape. Clearly the wire is down in the parking lot, runs across the sign and over to the red house. The boy is no longer touching the wire. The wire is not touching the street. I highly doubt that cop got shocked. The officer grabbing the other ankle sure didn't. Makes no sense. disgusting that the city allowed the electric to still be on when there was a downed wire near the school no crossing guards and no one there to tell the kids going to school that the city is garbage and hasn't shut off electrical to the downed wire from at least 12 hours prior PLENTY OF TIME TRASH HUMANS secondly THIS BOY WAS IN AGONY THAT THE COPS WILL NEVER COMPREHEND NEITHER WILL MOST OF US. The also probably caused brain damage because they didn't do basic stuff that we leaned in school as kids about life saving. Did anyone check for a pulse? He was dying and as this post I am about to copy paste here states IT IS A MIRACLE THAT THESE COPS DID NOT KILL HIM his brother is the hero who used his book bag to knock the wire away out of his hands the boys were walking to school they had no idea that there was a downed wire they jist tried to get to school f everyone in this town except those two boys❤
I was about his age when I got electrocuted by a power line. Sever burns to my hands, (entrance), feet (exit), and where the pipe hit me in the abdomen. Spent two months in the hospital. I'm pretty sure someone else was screaming on the left side, as much as i hear with headphones, who thought he was dead. Also it wouldn't make sense for the police to say "he's still breathing!" If he just screamed his lungs out.
As gutwrenching, as that babies screams are, it means he will survive it means he is breathing it means his brain is registering something it means his heart is pumping it means that he is pulling oxygen into his lungs As hard as it is to hear his screaming it is that small solace it means he’ll be surviving this as painful as it is to hear it means he is alive and I get it. I’m sobbing both from the anxiety of the situation as well as the relief his screams mean
There’s things in life you never forget as a cop. Hell, as any person who’s been in an emergency situation. These officers will never forget the sound of that screaming.
If those pigs were doing their job and making sure children didn't cross the line this wouldn't have happened. Those pigs should be charged with attempted murder
Sad To think he’s 8. My girl is 9. Such precious souls But unimportant note, the boy looked big to be 8 I was thinking 13 Where are we reading he was 8
Being a parent makes this extremely hard to watch, & not tear up. Respect to the officer that jumped into action, stayed calm, to save this young child.
I have been crying since I saw the other little boy trying to get to him. That officer deserves everything good in the world. He risked it all to save this boy and he talked to the boy as if that was his child.
His friend/brother crying in the beginning and him screaming in the police car broke my heart. The officer with the bodycam handled it all very well. Getting both kids to safety and reassuring them. If he wasnt there that kid may have died waiting for an ambulance or maybe no one would have had the guts to pull him out while the wire was live
The wire is like 5 feet over ground. You are safe until you are 1 inch away or so (in case of air, ground is a different story). I understand people are cautious, but anyone with some better knowledge of electricity would know it was completely safe. People should really be better educated about the world around them. Then we wouldn't have situations where ppl are scared to save someone just because of the don't have any real knowledge of the danger...
@@andan2293 I think the basis for the comments from most people is that the officer acted regardless of the potential for harm to himself. It would be great if everyone knew everything but that is never going to be the case. I'm glad the officers were awarded for their actions.
As a former electrician apprentice I can say the fact that this kid survived is a legit miracle, you can see where the current passed through his hands. The stories I’ve heard where this had happened there is such a small chance to survive. Nightmare fuel.
the good thing here in this case is that it was both hands, meaning that the current flowed from both hands to ground presumably through another part of his body, protecting his heart.
My family owned a induction heating business and my fingertip passed across massive generator coil, total dipshit move on my part of course, but my finger touched it a milisecond, a bolt of electricity shot down my fingertip (pointer finger) and out the top of my wrist. The doctor who treated my hand (left a perfect size .22 hole) said had it been my middle finger it could have killed me the same exact moment, the electricity could have shut up my whole arm.
Only emergency responders like to hear a kid crying because it means they are breathing. I broke into tears when i heard him start crying and it brought back memories. Good job to the officers.

From the destruction of the individual to the collective greater good, humanism has prevailed over your gods laws and instructions. Secularism is superior in every way. Would you like to understand where that understanding of humanism is better than deism comes from? Read the bible as if you were one of its victims. Read world religion history from the perspective of the bibles victims. How is deism effecting the world today from the perspective of its opponents. Why is theocracy a horrible idea? See ww2 japan and current middle east/ north African theocracies. Want to know why jesus doesnt actually love me? Because im not a jew. Jesus didnt preach for me or more likely than not, YOU. Jesus said “I come for the lost sheep of israel” is a sheep from another herd who jesus came for? So lost sheep from bobs herd are exempt from who jesus loved. I will break this down further. The bible breaks people down into three categories. Jews, gentiles, and pagans. You would think it would be two. Believers and non believers ya? But who is the third. Gentiles are non practicing jews. Jews do gentiles dont and pagans never did believe in yhvh. So jesus came for “the lost sheep of israel” is litetally saying i came for the bloodline jews that have fallen away by their own choice or situational diaspora. Just a tiny bit more evidence that jesus didnt die for me or probably you and that we arent in his club. Jesus died in exactly the same manner of situation as mlk jr. Jrsus was protesting against the legalism and capitalist exploitation within the jewish theocracy. He died because the jewish theocratic government was corrupt. He was fighting systemic legalism for the purposes of exploiting the avetage jew. Thats how the gospels read. That is the non sunday school version that people dont focus on. Mlk jr was assassinated because he was protesting systemic racism. So you see, jesus didnt die fir my sins. He died for the sins of theocratic authoritarianism. Mlk jr died for the sins of racial authoritarianism. The bible is a dystopian historical demonstration of why there should never be a god. The proof is that you exist as a believer despite the truth being in the very bible you read. That you condone all of the atrocities by participating. Therefore, you are not pro human. You are actually anti human. I challenge you and every believer of yhvh to read genesis once from the persoective of adam and eve. What did they stand to gain by eating the apple that makes them the heros of the story instead of the villain. What is a human that doesnt have knowledge of good and evil? We call that a psychopath. According to genesis, how many victims of yhvh are there? Didnt he curse every innocent man woman and child for the sin of disobedience? Adam and eve should be considered the first documented humanists and be lauded as heros because without them we would all be psychopaths without empathy or compassion. The serpent also suffered and still suffers to this day supposedly. Condemned and physically abused by yhvh for revealing the truth to adam and eve and thus elevating adam and eve as the first human humanists. The abrahamic traditions are the worst thing to ever happen to humanity. Meep your brainwashing to yourself please.

I was thinking 'there's no way his brain will be okay after that' and then he started screaming like that. It's messed up. Hopefully I'm wrong about these assumption
You are.
I was thinking the same thing
For non-electricians that don’t understand the video:
1) The transmission line a few feet above the street was most likely around 7200v or 12470v if shocked phase to phase.
Thank you
Thanks for the explanation it helped

Gotta love it when the police who are literally being paid with our collective tax dollars to protect and serve us actually do their job correctly and without bias and save a life rather than act as the judge, jury, and executioner and take one. Strange that we don't respond and treat firefighters, EMT, and medical professionals even remotely the same way when they do their job. The fact that we specifically feel the need to celebrate the police when they actually do their job says all there is to be said.

Mad respect for that officer risking his life to grab him. ❤❤❤ I see a lot of heated comments. If you read my sentence correctly. A fathers love is a word to describe how a man shows love to a child. “I gotta get him! I gotta get him!” was that pure father’s instinct. God bless the good officer 👍🏼
I definitely know what you mean, but you don't have to be a parent to feel that instinct.
Any parent instinct
Or like other guy said…dont need to have kids to be a hero with a big heart.
Always a seizure …
Alcohol poisoning sometimes too… those ones usually we can get to the hospital in time…
@AndrewRisitano Totally Agree With you!😘👍🏽🥰🥰🥰
All the officers piling into a single squad car with the boy to take him to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance is absolutely legendary. Props!
yeah except if he was in a deadly arrhythmia and delayed defibrillation could have cost him his life.

This video should also come with strong graphic warnings, censoring the kids face alone is not sufficient.

That doesn't mean he is a father. IT is possible for him to just be a very caring, and compassionate man, without having fathered any children. I don't like how people say stuff like this. It implies that any man who isn't a father can't possibly have a caring heart, and want to comfort a child. Yes they can, and they do all the time. It's just the type of human being you are, not whether or not you are a parent.
@@tyffaneelavely8087doesn't mean he isn't either. It could have all been because he is a father. Both are legit opinions and options. Bet it bugs you though

This little boy’s screaming is haunting, heart wrenching to listen to, but they were also a sign to the police officers, heroes, that he was alive.
That's what you get for holding a downed power line. I knew not to do that at his age
More annoying than anything, but hey, that's just me.

@@Funkyfuhrer123So the cop was getting electrocuted how then? Because he touched the ground, that's it? Stop being so ignorant and commenting when you clearly have no clue what you're even talking about...
This was making me tear up. The way he talked to the kid while he was in immense pain, after pulling him out, wow. These are the cops we need.
I never get teary-eyed... this beat me 😢
we have cops liek this, but you never hear about them because they dont make the news
This is how most cops are. They get a bad reputation from the media.

Poor baby! His screams broke my heart! Good job officers for caring for Blake like your own!
I was about his age when I got electrocuted by a power line. Sever burns to my hands, (entrance), feet (exit), and where the pipe hit me in the abdomen. Spent two months in the hospital. I know the pain and fear all to well. Hope the little dude recovers fully. This is the exact reason I went into medicine, the care I received could not be paid back any other way.
That’s an incredible you give back in that way. Bravo 👏🏻

His friend/brother crying in the beginning and him screaming in the police car broke my heart. The officer with the bodycam handled it all very well. Getting both kids to safety and reassuring them.

As a former electrician apprentice I can say the fact that this kid survived is a legit miracle, you can see where the current passed through his hands. The stories I’ve heard where this had happened there is such a small chance to survive. Nightmare fuel.
@9:36 it looks like the current went through that baby's skull and out the top of his head too along w his fingertips🥺
His feet as well, when they're putting him in the car you can see where a hole is burned through his sock
3:28
the good thing here in this case is that it was both hands, meaning that the current flowed from both hands to ground presumably through another part of his body, protecting his heart.

@@highestpeeqs9532 there is no god. There never has been a god. There never will be a god and there should never be a god. Your religion is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity. It never fails to create hypocrisy and strife to the point of destruction.
