The rules that you are talking about only applies mostly at 3rd world countries in which you need to be married to a local or citizen of that country to own properties or countries that protect land ownership from foreign investors. I'm a Filipino-Canadian born in Cebu but left when I was 13 yrs old. In Canada one can own a property or propeties even if you are not citizen just a landed immigrant status gives you the same rights as a naturalized or born in Canada Canadians except voting. Same rules in the U.S. pertaining to property ownership, I know coz my parents live there and they are only green card holders with Canadian passport. Further more it is in the Philippines best interest to keep foreigners from owning land without any Filipino backers. Or else our country would be owned mostly by foreigners or by the Chinese and the average Filipinos would be renter's in their country. It already started by letting foreigners own condos without having to marry a Filipino or Filipina.

Cut those coconut trees within the surrounding areas of your property. And replace them with fruit bearing trees ( mango/ jackfruit)or hardwood trees like Narra they are very good for soil stabilisation, go to your nearest DENR and ask for some seedlings..😊

This will protect your home from violent tidal surges as you're all well-aware that Siargao is right smack inside the typhoon belt of the Philippines. Consider using AAC blocks to reinforce the walls, both peripheral and residential, as these are sturdier, durable, and more long-lasting than regular blocks.

Unlimited supply of water, you can make first a manual water pump underground, locals know how to do it, its cheap, no worries, just buy the manual water pump in your hardware store. Make also an outside comfort room ready for a mini pool for story🤙😲😍, while having a road goin there, order some mini stones spread goin thorugh the main road., stones are cheap 1 truck full of stones maybe only 5k pesos.
just my opinion, if some water are freely flowing on your lot then its a bad idea to build a house. you have to check the integrity of the ground. check where the water is coming from?? what if heavy rains comes??? flood water???
When i think of "tiny homes" i usually dream of having a "container homes". Considering we our a typhoon weathered archipelago. Consider also some earthquakes here and there. So to me container homes really make sense to use here in the Philippines. Congratulations guys to your new home.🎉❤😊

That's actually mineral water that has not gone through filtration/osmosis etc.. don't build through it. Can make the land soft . Best wishes!

ooh exciting-my favorite thing buying land a designing house and landscape. For landscaping you start with function-leech fields-if applicable, walkways to and from, siting garden in sunny area, carport area, dog run- etc- so first you list the different functions on your land, some of those things will need to be sited in particular areas-ex garden in south but near house door/kitchen

We have two adult children now, one getting married in less than a year, the other is doing her PhD, they love their career in the UK. This is one of the reason, I can't return for good in the Philippines, perhaps half and half a year back. I have already a house and would like to spend more time in Ph even before my retiring age. I can't stand the winter and cold rainy days. I almost would love to hibernate during these months. Anyway, all the best to your plans and having a home in Ph.

Excellent choice on a tiny house. I was thinking of the same. And a smart house at that. I have put smart plugs, smart lights on my place. My tv just turns on and off on schedule. So does my plugs. Turns on my rice cooker in the morning and evening on schedule

Unlimited supply of water, you can make first a manual water pump underground, locals know how to do it, its cheap, no worries, just buy the manual water pump in your hardware store. Make also an outside comfort room ready for a mini pool for story🤙😲😍, while having a road goin there, order some mini stones spread goin thorugh the main road., stones are cheap 1 truck full of stones maybe only 5k pesos.

just my opinion, if some water are freely flowing on your lot then its a bad idea to build a house. you have to check the integrity of the ground. check where the water is coming from?? what if heavy rains comes??? flood water???

When i think of "tiny homes" i usually dream of having a "container homes". Considering we our a typhoon weathered archipelago. Consider also some earthquakes here and there. So to me container homes really make sense to use here in the Philippines. Congratulations guys to your new home.🎉❤😊

That's actually mineral water that has not gone through filtration/osmosis etc.. don't build through it. Can make the land soft . Best wishes!

ooh exciting-my favorite thing buying land a designing house and landscape. For landscaping you start with function-leech fields-if applicable, walkways to and from, siting garden in sunny area, carport area, dog run- etc- so first you list the different functions on your land, some of those things will need to be sited in particular areas-ex garden in south but near house door/kitchen

I came across your blog ages ago, and you were only new to the Philippines and now your building your house there, that's lovely:) I'm a fili-brit and I can't wait returning for good in the Philippines. We have two adult children now, one getting married in less than a year, the other is doing her PhD, they love their career in the UK. This is one of the reason, I can't return for good in the Philippines, perhaps half and half a year back. I have already a house and would like to spend more time in Ph even before my retiring age. I can't stand the winter and cold rainy days. I almost would love to hibernate during these months. Anyway, all the best to your plans and having a home in Ph.

i suggest that you should have a two story house if can afford it. Have a long stick always when wondering on a wet areas, snakes maybe around. =)
