There’s one lost media that I see no one ever mention which is the live-action reference footage from Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Specifically the ending fight scene where Prince Philip fights the dragon. At the time it was still a challenge animating people, especially in an action scene, so they shot footage of an actor dressed up as the prince with a prop sword and acted out the fight. The animators used this as a reference when drawing the character fighting the dragon. We only have a couple of still pictures from the reference footage. The whole thing is either in the vault or lost all together. Considering we have the reference footage from Walt Disney’s first film Snow White with that being 86 years old, I’m leaning more towards the footage being lost all together.

That Nine Inch Nails album is released but as stated on a press release stating "The Fragile: Deviations 1 will not be available on any digital services and only available in this format while this limited run lasts." I have it on vinyl and have the digital copy among many others. Luckly the album has been uploaded on the Internet Archive and on TH-cam as well, so anyone is able to listen to the album. Just a little additional information about the Asterix and Obelix movie. The real reason for not ever hitting the cinema is because of the right issue. The studio which did the movie never had the right from Goscinny and Uderzo. They only discover it once it was finished. They refused to give the right and asked to be destroyed or at least not ever released. After that incident, they created their own animated studio named Idefix Studio which created the animated movie based on Asterix and Cleopatra.

About the Control Denied second album, there was indeed quite a bit of progress made on the recording and seemingly, the manager of the band, Eric Greif, had the master tapes of what was done of the album by the time of his death in 2021. Some years ago he mentioned wanting to finally finish the project and even got around to recruit members of the band to record their parts. Unfortunately, due to legal issues that couldn't be resolved, the project couldn't continue and it was shelved.

That would go for pretty much all rotoscoped animation ever.
@@J0SHUAKANE the entire scene and likely it's originals were traced over colorized cut down and used for the scene directly rotoscoped aside from maybe the trailing and heading frames of the dance it'll.probably be all that survived

Wow. Talk about perfect timing. Just yesterday I was introduced to this series for the first time, and I noticed it took a LONG time to make videos about this. And I was like, "Man, I wish this series could be made sooner. It's so interesting." LITERALLY a day later, AKA today, I see a new video about this pop up. Now's THAT's what I call convenient.
The tracks itself are a collection of instrumentals and alternative instrumentals of songs from The Fragile and songs from the recording sessions for the Fragile that went unused even with one of the unused tracks being later used for a Saul Williams track, a friend of Trent Rezor.
37:50 never expected to see something I made on this video but here goes: it wasn't 24 hours, it was broken up into 4 parts but each part was 24 minutes, and the reason why it was never uploaded again was because there were samples that would have been impossible to clear, and because of that they never let me upload it again
do you still have it
@@markbarrios1998 somewhere but i am not in a rush to go and look for it atm
Thanks for the clarification!
So should you ever… SoundCloud is fairly lenient with samples so long as you avoid monetization 👀
There are a few abandoned mines in the US midwest that are used to store old media, especially films. I think one is covered on the show Modern Marvels.
I used to live up between Quincy IL and Hannibal Missouri. Along the salty muddy banks of the Mississippi river up I'm the hills about 150 200 feet or so is a two lane private road practically ascending this cliff side drops off into iron mountain documents and archives an almost 100 acre salt storage facility

But for real though, I love these iceberg and lost media videos you make. They keep me addicted for hours!

ok now the Dillinger Escape Plan clip from the Hellfest 2004 entry is badass! Thank You sourcebrew
When you mentioned Canimals, i got really happy, i watched the show A LOT during 2019 or so and i never see anyone talk about it.
Anyways, top tier video
i remember watching that show probably in 2015 or something.
Completely caught me off guard when I heard Hollywood Undead on this ice berg. They have a lot of unreleased songs before their first album (Swan Songs) that has yet to be released to the public.
The interesting thing about the filmed segment of Roberts doing a DDT to Hogan is that it might have aired on local television, but that may or may not have happened and there is no footage available.
I'm so proud of the way this channel has grown. I've beem watching since the bery first video and coming back and seeing how he's grown makes me so happy. keep up the good work man!
37:18 idk if anyone’s pointed this out on this video or the Yoshimi one but I think this is referring to the shirt Sematary wore in a promo vid for an EP of his which is an unreleased red long sleeve version of his merch. As far as I know no other red long sleeve Sematary shirts exist so I have to assume this is what it’s talking abt
Seeing Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu on here was surprising to say the least, I’m a huge fan of the band and seeing them live in May. I wasn’t even aware of the book

2:06 alright, so the story goes that someone on a facebook meme group posted that he would rob some kid playing pokemon go, just because they were edgy douches who hated anything popular, and that he would leave a spray a meme graffiti on the ground for the news to see, and he did, making it reach the news and then the original meme group which is where that screenshot comes from

Omg I’ve been looking for someone to mention NIN just do it in a lost media video!! It was cut from the album because the producers thought it was too dark for an already dark and violent album, gives me goosebumps to think of what it may sound like!!

R.I.P Doritos Crash Course 2. I use to play it a bunch with my friends when I was in 7th grade.
as someone from philippines, i can recall there was an advert for the simpsons (1:47:12) that they were airing on cartoon network
one thing to add is that i remember it bing advertised way past 2006, something around 2009-2011, something around that time frame, i can't really comment for 2006 since i was a toddler and i memory's quite hazy during that time period
43:40 These recently came up in the Illuminaughti debacle. He deleted some because english is not his first language, he was a teenager, and he did not know the cultural connotations around certain words due to learning English from media and the internet, not knowing there was a difference between swears and slurs. So once he did learn that, he deleted them because he didn't want to be associated with that, even on accident. Literal heated gamer moments, ya know?
46:20 So, here's an interesting thing about that Coinblasters mascot. In 2021/22, a bunch of Crypto people tried to make a 'Crypto Island' called Cryptoland, like an Island resort for Crypto fanatics and an accompanying NFT collection. They used the EXACT same model as the coin in that AD as their mascot in their trailer and as the NFTs.
Update: Coinblasters MIGHT be a fake ad created to mock the Cryptoland people, I'll update this if I learn more.
Seeing la Sacre du printemps (the rite on spring) was awesome, the footage shown is of the Jeoffrey Ballet recreation in which following accounts and sparse notes, recreated the ballet and was later confirmed by notes following the death of Nanjinski’s assistant
People have to explain in depth what SCP is now, I feel old....
Basically just an offshoot of creepypastas that became their own form of storytelling, in the form of all the stories being part of this foundation that keeps an eye on strange beings and objects in the world
It’s not like SCPs have gone anywhere. It’s more likely for older people
SCP has gotton a lot more popular in this new generation though
@@the_mariocrafter oh yeah I know that, I just felt the creepypasta comparison would help explain
SCP, or Secure, Collect and Protect were a foundation made to protect humanity against evil folkloric creatures, or protecting these creatures from us.
1:15:15 crazy that those videos were privated 8 years before minecraft even existed. Ahead of the curve.
1:31:54 I'm sorry to break it to you, but we didn't have VCRs in 1953. If the film still exists it's probably in an attic or shed somewhere. Old BBC programs have been found in such places. The BBC also sent a lot of their programs to other countries so lost BBC media has been found all over the world in the most random of places.
Not sure if anyone's said this, but at 40:12 it actually does mean gateway tapes. The gateway tapes were tapes created by the government to shift people into other realities - similar to the state of the "shifting" communities nowadays. They are often pointed at by them of proof of shifting - maybe there's a longer version of them that are lost.
god i wish you had uploaded this yesterday, i was working on a master grade gundam kit and this would've been the perfect thing to watch in the background
i was working on a gameboy colour pcb yesterday and thought exactly this when I saw the upload, i feel the pain dude
21:04 Between "I didn't know Windows existed in the 1980's" and now using "deleted" to refer to destroying physical film in the 1930's.... oh boy...
I would imagine the amount of media and videos that were lost when Justin TV abandoned its terms of service to become twitch are incalculable
Film often gets(got?) stored in salt mines due to the salt absorbing any moisture that might cause damage.

There are even some reaction videos of Boku no Pico that are now lost. I remembered one where it had a drawing of a bunny was holding a flower to censor the graphic scenes.

I LOVED SILLY SONGS WITH LARRY! E-cards were the 00's predecessor to Gifs, for lack of a better description. It was a basic flash/javascript (I know nothing about computers) thing that you'd get emailed to you, and it was animated, and I very much remember the Larry the Cucumber one!
Also, those Evanescence songs aren't really lost. Good thing about being obsessed with her as a teen in the Limewire days was the ability to download any obscure thing you could find. I have a CD with a mix of those songs, and October is absolutely beautiful.
When you mentioned doritos crash course 2 being lost my eyes widened immediately this is the ONE piece of lost media I own, I own an offline playable version of Doritos crash course 2 I used to play it tons not that long ago likeback in 21' so I know I have it on my series x and I can at least release footage of it

1:53:00 the toybox is archived in the strangest way. TH-camr Ratlobber did a video about strange bootleg version of Garry's Mod and found one called "Garry's Mod 12 SSR" which he took notice in given that the download size is over 40 GIGABYTES and the reason for that is that it includes, and I shit you not, an archive of the original toybox.

I've been slowly deconstructing it and testing each add-on in my version of Garry's mod off and on for the past year or so and preparing to upload everything I can to the internet archive
It's honestly been trippy, a nostalgic trip down memory lane by the same time an exploration of some digital catacombs that I've only vaguely been aware of
And granted I do believe that there are pieces missing from this archive and their pieces that do not function in the current version of Gmod and maybe corrupted add-ons but it's still a sizable archive and according to the note it's everything that was on the GMA toy box the day it stopped working

Dm me I have a prize for you 🎉….
the demos are official songs. Schuldiner was Death, he was Control Denied. It was his projects, so he decided. Nobody else would write songs since he kicked the rebel members who toured europe without him. He was making demos and when you hear the demos you know how it would sound with Control Denied 1 production. But they count equally since the USA medical system took the life of Schuldiner (if i kept Terry Schiavo alive as a vegetable AFTER thedeath of chuck ever since she was a vegetable in the 1980s when chuck wrote "Pull the Plug", you must afgree it is undeniable the medical system costs in the USA killed chuck)
I wish there was a little more info on some of these... why did he destroy his own book of 22 poems???
Maybe the poems reminded him of something worse, given that he survived Holocaust.
Or the poems remind him of what he had done during that time.

1:45:16 I remember reading somewhere that in the 1790's someone had figured out a way to take photographs, just not be able to print what it was onto something physically. So maybe for that entry someone had taken photos of the event but were unable to develop them due to not being able to.
Photographs have been around for a long time, the developing chemical was already discovered by the 18th century
What wasn't invented until the mid 1800s was the fixer chemical, the one that actually makes the photographs remain in the material and not wither away when exposed to light
The photographic evidence of the balloon trips most likely doesn't exist
