The Zhiyun Crane 3s is an impressive gimbal and will replace the Crane 3 lab. But do you need to upgrade to the Crane 3s if you already have the Crane 3 Lab? If you are considering buying a Zhiyun gimbal and have been waiting for the Crane 3s, but don't need that much power and the extra weight of the Zhiyun Crane 3s. How about the video transmission and control from the ZYPlay app. I know the Crane 3 Lab has both included in the standard version but how about the 3S?

Hi Peter. You shaw the S1H on the crane 3S... but on the web site it seems that some compatibility are not yet ready. Does the S1H work fine with the commands from the crane 3 S?

Hi peter, for a camera 6k pro with sigma 18 35, I think the crane 3 lab is a good option for less weight and that helps to hold it longer but the 3s is a bit more modern. What gimbal do you recommed for this camera? Thanks!

Hi, yes the battery time is the same on both gimbals 12h. There is no difference between the 3s and 3SE other than the handle. 3S has the screen and buttons where the 3SE has a standard screw on handle. i preffer the 3SE VERSION.
Hello, I owned a used Crane Lab. But it comes without the baseplate, so I cannot attach my Camera (bmpcc 4k). What can I buy to get the same function of the baseplate including the possibility to mount the servos for zoom and focus.
I own both . And I still prefer the crane 3 lab for my run and gun stuff. I use the crane 3 S strictly for my car rig nothing else. It’s just a lot heavier and annoying to carry .

Does the crane 3s also handle lighter camera’s like the Sony a7iii with zoom 24-75mm. I’ve heard that the gimbal will vibrate with too light camera’s.
With a smaller setup like that I would go for the Weebill s. The weight of the crane 3 s is no joke.

Thank you for this tutorial, I am having problems with my Crane 3 Lab, I've upgraded it to V1.90 and then I attempted to upgrade the Servo Motors (Max & Lite) but there is a Yellow light that continues to blink. Have you experienced this problem or can you offer me any assistance? I can't seem to find a number for tech support in the US for this manufacturer.

I upgraded my Servo motors a couple of weeks ago with success. I did get the yellow blinking light which I understand is normal but then went to the menu system on the crane and selected the corresponding motor to that which is plugged, eg if the lite motor is plugged while the yellow light is blinking, go to the light option on the menu and select to upgrade. follow that same step with the max.

Hey! I got my crane 3S in the mail the other day, and it's awesome! but also very confusing. I'm coming from a DJI and MOVI background and those ones are very easy to set up and the apps are amazing for calibrating and making adjustments. but with this one nothing seems strait forward. I got it to use with my c200.
I've noticed so far that my follow button doesn't seem to do anything. and on calibrating the gimbal I am unsure if am supposed to do it with the c200 on the gimbal or off the gimbal, and how to do that. do you have any tips or tricks or reasons why I might be having problems with it?
if you can I would love to see a guide with setting it up for bigger cameras, and troubleshooting different things. like what all the buttons do and such.
Alright, I can defintly do a video like that, but to get you going, the 6 side calibration has to be done without the camera on. Update you gimbal to the latest firmware v1.77 that will get rid of some miner issues and shakes. The Zhiyun APP is so bad, compared to DJI, wich is super easy to use.
The follow button on the handle will only work if you connect the max follow focus motor. hopfully this will help you a bit. Pete
Have they updated the app since release? Heard it was very underwhelming, but it's been a year so I'm wondering if I should dive in on this or the ronin s. I love shooting underslung, but that seems to be the only category where it's crane 3s is better. Everything else is tied or goes to the ronin, the big win being the app. So have they improved it since?

You should consider checking out the Crane 2s it is incredibly smooth. I will soon do a video of how to use dualgrip and underslung for the Crane 2S. What camera are you using?
Everybody talks about the max. load of the Crane 3s which is absolutely a pro for this model. It ´s cool that it can handle a Arri bla and the Red blub but nobody is talking about if it is realistic to carry the combination of a heavy gimbal with a giant and heavy camera for more than 2 minutes. I mean it is cool that the next Zhiyun gimbal will balance a hole motor cycle on it but will anybody be able to hold that in real world situations? In my opinion the Crane 3 Lab reached a kind of limit of weight that makes sense for a handheld gimbal.
I have said this so many times. The Crane 3s is too heavy. And fully loaded it is impossible to handle.
Yo, love the info in this video and helped me make a decision. I feel like both of these are a bit much if I'm only gonna use a phone or mirrorless setup.
Btw, one thing I noticed in this video is the low frequency thumping noises when you put something on the table. I'm guessing the mic is setup on it? You could get rid of this with a low pass filter in post. Just thought I'd share because when you have a sub it's definitely noticable :D

I have a Weebill Lab for my Sony a6500 and I am planning to get a Sony a7iV and a Zhiyun Crane 3S thanks to your video.
I am amazed on your setup. Awesome! I didn't know you could add a monitor. I have tried in my Weebill Lab, but impossible even though it is light. I would also like to maybe add a mic receiver if possible. Ideas please. 🙏
What monitor is that one?
Allright great. If you want to add a mic, the best way is to add a cage to your camera and mout the mic on the side of the cage. Then the mic will follw the direcrion of the gimbal and camera. For just monitoring, the small hd focus or Atamos Shinobi are great options. I would go for the Weebill S instead of the bigger Crane 3s when you are rocking the Sony a7IV. The Crane 3S is pretty heavy. As reference, I used to use the Crane 3 Lab with my GH5 for most of my gimbal work, but now I only use the Weebill S and it is great.
Peter Makholm Thank you so much for yoir quick reply, but I have tried to mount a monitor in my Weebill Lab, but it falls forward or backwards. No chance to stabilize it and it’s way below the workload limit. Is that problem solved in the Weebill S?

Dewayne Kennemer hi, You should definitely upgrade your gimbal, but the crane 3s is overkill for an A7R3. You will get tired of the weight of the gimbal. I would go for the Weebill S. It is my favorite gimbal. I have a series of videos about the Weebill S
Peter Makholm awesome question/answer. I’m coming from Crane 3. I thought about the weebill. However, with the difference in cost between the weebill and this new one. I think the new one would be a better choice (future proofing). I currently shoot on a A7iii, a good choice I’ll upgrade to a cinema cam in the near future.

You will need an extension plate. You should take a look at the Crane 2s instead.

The wobbling effect is gone, but I still think it is a heavy gimbal. It isn't any smoother than then crane 3 lab.

You forgot to mention the important fact that the Crane 3 Lab has the image transmission module already included. If you want to use this on the Crane 3s you have to spend more than 100 bucks on top for the external transmission module.

You say the Crane 3 can handle 4.5kg payload, and then right after you say it won't handle your fully kitted out S1H which is only 3kg. So what's the deal?
What I mean is you can't have the monitor and handle on the cage of the S1H and use it with the CRANE 3 Lab as you can on the CRANE 3S. The crane 3 lab can easily take the S1H with cage alone.

Dalton Randall because the monitor and handle will be in the way when going in to sling mode. It can handle the weight.

Jim I wish there where one. I don't have any strings attached to zhiyun. The gear I bought my self or where provided to me by the good folks at Focus Nordic. But Zhiyun should consider paying me I know they are watching. But the good thing is that you get my honest opinion about the product.

Tried to watch this but the amount of noise you generade everytime the table is touched is unbearable. Please mount the mic somewhere not on the table next time
The mic is not on the table. The rattling is not from the microphone it is the gimbals that rattles within in the locks.
@@PeterMakholm You generate a low rumble boom that is very loud and jarring in headphones. You can get rid of this by rolling off your lows. You'll still sound natural, but the great video quality will have great audio with it. Great comparison though. Helpful to understand the differences.
A gimbal comparison without test footage seems kind of useless to me. Basicly everything you said is written on Zhiyun's website. So please make a video with some test footage side by side. :)
I hear what you are saying. But this video what more a comparison of what will you get if you upgrade form the Crane 3 lab to the Crane 3S.
If you're excited about getting this product then I'm going to let you know now DON'T BE! it's not ready to scale. DO YOUR RESEARCH! and not from Zhiyun either but from the non sponsored customers. They will tell you the truth. Most people who've had problems with it have had to fight very hard WITH NO PAYOFF! A disappointed realization. Hope that other people comment and speak up about his as well.
Have the issues been fixed? I'm looking to do 3S, but I'm starting to lean to the 3Lab due to its now cheaper price and good reviews. I heard nothing but issues with 3S.
Update> If you have a problem with the Crane 3s (it doesn't work) and you don't have the time to deal with ZHIYUN customer service (Which runs on Hong Kong time zone) then it's not worth your tim. Get your money back.

I have a problem with ZhIyun's Business Operations/Communications/Liability Management. If you are here to know if you should buy the crane 3s then i'd say this, if you're still reading then you MIGHT want to go ahead and get it. Specs are Accurate although, = there is a minimum weight.
The Crane 3s designed to hold a lot of weight (a little over 14lbs.) Awesome!
As far as the software,
There's a lot I could say. it needs a lot of work(accuracy/layout/anticipations/ new features/better performance). Look there's no other gimbal in this range of specs and price. What you need to know longevity wise is it's a pain to deal with the company and the software. I hope the updates fix issues. (It Won't) the hardware is great! (not the Software) worth looking into for yourself! (100%) ask more questions. Should I make a video about it?
@@jafarisampson9249 Thanks! More people doing videos, the better! I ended up getting the 3 Lab, because it was almost $400 cheaper for the Master vs the Pro. I wasn't sure if it was worth the $400 dollar upgrade, as I'm running a minimal BMPCC. The biggest worry is I haven't heard much update for people with vibration issues, have you had any of those issues?
Forget either product. The support is so bad, the app is bad. Just had a chat online as the company aren't supporting the new Sony A7s3 or the Canon R5. These guys are a joke. No point buying a product if the company supporting it are useless!

@@PeterMakholm Yep. I'm gutted as the product is reasonable. But I guarantee DJI will offer support almost immediately for all new cameras. Its annoying Zhiyun seem to not even care about the users. Really poor service.
