    Nice ... I just added the Harley cooler for my Forty Eight...and it is a solid 20 degree cooling and sounds great and I feel a better response twisting the throttle.. went about 100 miles yesterday and never went over 200... I think coolers are the way to go with any air cooled engine.

    Several concerns.. one yes copper is softer but a better conductor for heat transfer and better for removing heat. Another issue is location. Putting it on the front gets large flow of air, aerodynamics 101. Airflow under bike tucked up in with flat blades opposing the actual airflow and not getting good airflow. Lastly the heat temps are hotter the closer you are to the asphalt. In sure it's an upgrade from nothing but definitely there are better choices and solutions.

    Watched your video prior to my purchase/install. Way less hassle on the install, excellent quality components & peace of mind as opposed to the other types out there including HD product. Only item i couldnt see was if the return line ran over the top or bottom of the front motor mount. I tried it both ways & chose over the top of it. Great video Gary & a great magician on a few of the fittings swapped out. No slight of hand there LOL !!! P.S., Your ex must be a gypsy with all those knives LOL !!

    just installed an oil bud on my 2012 HD ultra limited...this was a literal pain in the ass...make sure you receive ALL of the parts in the kit...although, the kit does not contain an inventory list...call Bud (the guy answers his phone) and inventory the parts kit BEFORE you breakdown the bike...lesson learned...I was missing three parts, which I discovered after breaking down the bike. Bud shipped them...a week delay.
    If you have crash bars and lower fairings like I did...they are totally in the way, so that'll be a pain point. Removing the OEM oil filter adapter hex bolts - had to take-off the heat shield to get to the bolts.
    Bottom line, get a jack stand, inventory the parts w/Bud over the phone BEFORE you break down the bike, and be prepared to spend MORE than 90 minutes on the install.
    So far, glad I did it.
    Two-week update...no leaks...engine ran way, way cooler (Virginia July weather) on the local mainways...significantly less heat while waiting at traffic lights. Bud said it'd keep the oil about 20-30 degrees cooler...and I would have to agree. If your upgrading you're engine to high-output / high-performance...highly recommend protecting it from high temperature using the Oil bud kit and a Lenore cooling head fan, Mobil 1 V-twin syn oil. FYSA...the new Harley Syn Heavy 80W-140 gear oil in the primary and tranny works awesomely...finally, I can find Neutral without issue.
    Is the Oil Bud worth $700...Well, I'm glad I installed it on my 2012 FLHTK ugrade: HD SE Stage V kit (92500037A) w/259 cams, S&S cam plate and TC3 oil pump, 10-5-1 High-compression pistons, high capacity rollers tappets, high flow fuel injectors, 110 big bore cylinders, CNC ported heads/high-compression valves, SE rocker box / HL arms, SE compensator, 58mm throttle body, SE HF air intake, 53A regulator kit, Baker tensioner, SE clutch pack, new inner lefty bearing,complete tranny overhaul and upgrade new M8 transmission, Rockford Fosgate Stage III stereo w/400w amp, Ciro wireless phone charger, Oil Bud cooling system, Lenore head-cooling fan, and a great engine TUNE after break-in...and best of all...my wife didn't leave me after it was all done!

    It's an intriguing product. I'm curious though since I have a street glide, live in a city and only seem to get overly hot in traffic, does it have a sensor to start pumping like UltraCool does when the bike hits a certain temperature? If it's cool out and on highways the bike does not need to be cooled any more than it is and if it's cooled too much it's not good either. So having a sensor would be optimal I think.

    • @LateNiteVTwin
      @LateNiteVTwin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      There is a thermostat in the filter housing adapter, and it regulates the flow through the cooler. It's not just a throw a cooler in line type of product.......anytime you can drop oil temps in an air cooled engine, the better.

    hey buddy, with the oil cooler add-on, does that add to the oil quantity required to keep up adequate oil pressure? more distance for the oil to travel...? thx

    • @LateNiteVTwin
      @LateNiteVTwin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      GREAT question! Yes it adds more capacity, and no, it does not require more pressure to push the oil through. Since Harley has a dry sump system, and this is basically in line to where the traditional cooler is routed, it has zero effect on the system to "try" and keep up or require a higher volume pump to make it work. That was a great question btw! Hope this answers your question.....

      I'm not saying anyone is steering anyone wrong. I prefer the Oil Bud for many reasons. I don't like my oil coolers mounted right behind the wheel, to many replaced due to damage from road debris. the other is that the upper frame mounted ones are not pleasing to the eye, and force hot air across the legs. I'm not endorsed by anyone here. I make these videos to help this community along. I film what I feel has worked for me and my customer base in the past, and feel I can share. If you like the Jagg product, by all means, any oil cooler is better than nothing.

      Hi Eric! So, this is an OIL BUD oil cooler. Many reasons I go this route. One, it's hidden away under the frame away from road debris damage from the front wheel, two, you don't see an ugly cooler on the frame anywhere. three, it has 600 times the colony surface than a normal oil cooler. Capacity is double that in volume of a normal frame type cooler and that even helps because if you can have more oil that has been cooled, the engine will always run cooler. Oil Bud is out of Helena Montana. He sell his coolers directly from his web site.

    Awesome product. But I have one question. Is it still possible to use wide band sensors with this adapter? It seems like there are not enough space between sensor bung and adapter.

      Did you ever get an answer to your question? Cause I have the very same question

      @@bullast2046 Nope. But I was able to install this cooler on my RK2000 with a Samson True Dual and aftermarket wide band sensor. I can't say anything about other years and models :( Hope it helps you.

      @@666SeeR999 I appreciate the response.. I’m leaning away from the Oil Bud cooler because it requires drilling through the frame.. thanks again.. peace

    How do you like this oil cooler on your bike ?
    Looking at a oil bud or a ultra cool. In the fence so just researching both the best I can. Oil bud is $700 ish can’t really see it / ultra cool $500 ish installs between down tubes in frame above or below regulator.

      Hi James, I'm a big OIL BUD fan. I have used every oil cooler under the sun in my repairs and upgrades, personally and for customers. I have to say, my 117" twin cam has never run cooler. I like the fact it's under the chassis, not behind the fender. I have a few dyno shops/ engine builders locally and they swear by them. Let me know what way you go, and how it works for you
